Uwe Boll: Quits?

Look, I've never posted in these boards, but I've been with Penny Arcade from the start. I love everything about them, and I share many of their hates. Perhaps two of the foremost on gamers minds are Jack Thompson and Uwe Boll. For the most part, Thompson has become a harmless little psychopath, forced to have another lawyer sign whatever he wants to sue in order to prove that it is, in fact, for a good reason. However, the other half of that equation still plagues us with bad movies, bad scripts, bad attitude, and most importantly, bad use of games.

But, he made a fatal error.

Recently, Uwe Boll said that if there were a million votes against his making movies, he'd stop.

Unfortunately, finding the manpower for 1 million votes is tough if the word really isn't out there due to Boll's less than stellar popularity.

But we, the readers of Penny Arcade, number far more than 1 million. We are a collective, indeed a force of nature, in which we have achieved a many great things through sheer numbers and passionate disapproval of those things that would mock or destroy our most coveted pastime. Now, I understand Uwe is most likely blowing smoke up our asses, but what if he stuck by what he said? I figure that's chance enough to give this a shot... So, here it is.

Spread the word, tell everyone you know, please, please, please, vote away this monstrosity. I post this here because this is a crisis to movies, games, and an announcement that is long overdue to stop the blatant misuse of properties that deserve to be treated with care and respect. With enough votes we may be able to rid ourselves of the one true thing that mocks us openly.

I figure it's better than just finding him and hurting him, right?

1. I'm pretty sure the mods locked the last one of these to pop up, so don't be surprised if this does as well.
2. Someone has to be out there making bad cinema. If not Boll, then who?
3. I don't harbor the delusion he'd actually go through on his promise if they managed to get a million sigs.

I enjoy Boll movies*, much in the same way I enjoy watching crashes in Burnout. I want to always be able to crash in Burnout, and I always want to be able to watch Uwe Boll movies. Thus I won't be signing.

I don't see why everybody thinks this is going to work, especially after the stacking the deck against the critics of his movies before punching their faces in.

If anything, even if the petition reaches a million, all we get is Boll braying about how he's the most hated filmmaker on the face of the planet.
