Medical insurance

So I may be getting a new job depending on how my interview goes. I have to wait 6 months before I can sign up for the company's medical insurance.

Now I'm relatively healthy so I don't foresee any doctor visits anytime soon, but I want to have at least something incase I get in a car accident or something sends me to the hospital.

What medical insurance could I get in the Seattle area that I wouldn't have to pay out of the ass for? I'm not too knowledgeable on insurance since I've always had medical coverage.

normally car insurance covers medical costs, minus the deductible involved in car accidents. That being said your previous employer sometimes has a supplement insurance where you can keep your current coverage at a much higher cost.

Well I don't drive all that much...just using it as an example. I cycle more often then I drive.

I could ask for COBRA through my employer but that's 500 bucks a month. Bleh

what you want to look up is "catastrophic health insurance"

it's not for check-ups or doctor visits, it's for use in the event you have a major medical event. high deductibles.
