Pre-crash, someone posted either in an AC thread or a desktop thread a high resolution image of the AC world map in computer graphic style that you get to see in the background of AC5's briefings. Would anyone happen to have that still kicking about?
I really like the Assault Records, it's pretty cool reading what these pilots do, like the one that ends up working on Stonehenge or the one that moves and opens a shop in San Salvacion.
What I don't like is the cutting of some planes from AC5, but I'll live with it.
Well technically didn't some of these planes not even exist in 1995?
Err, besides the concept stuff obviously.
Yeah, the F-22 and the F-35 obviously, and I think the Su-37 wasn't the Su-37 yet(no thrust vectoring), and the Su-32 wasn't either, I think they were both shown in 1997.

For the sake of fun, I'd rather not have all of my favourite plans taken out for the sake of realism.

This has probably been asked before, but does anyone still have that world map from Ace Combat 5?

Just unlocked the [spoiler:cacd2b3c91]Falken and Morgan. The Falken rocks the Morgan's face pretty hard. Carries more ordinance, including double the laser blasts that last longer, and seem to take targets out quicker. It also has a fucking awesome cockpit.[/spoiler:cacd2b3c91]

I've got a book on my bookshelf of Millitary Aircraft, and it's from 1995-1996, and it hasthe F-22 listed with a great amount of detail, so.... I think you're wrong on that one.
edit: Wikipedia says you're thinking of the unveiling of the first "production-representative" craft:
so I finally bought a PS2 as a reward for finishing the semester, and the first game I bought was AC5. I've wanted to play this for so long, but I've hesitated since I didn't want to buy a 2nd console (first is xbox..soon to be a 360)
I'm loving the game, I'm curious as to what some of the slang does mean...for example shack on the target. That reminds me. I know the phrase "five by five" means everything is OK...but is there an origin to what five by five means or is it just something made up for Aliens
The inclusion of so many historical American and Russian fighter jets kind of makes me wish they'd drop this whole fantasy universe and just go full out with a Cold-War era Earth Ace Combat.

Eh, it allows them to take liberties with history without actually taking liberties with history.
I have alot more fun when I can believe the countries are actually at war, than if its some conflict in the past that I know never happened.

Is there a soundtrack out for this game, or a torrent to the soundtrack?
Because the song from the very last mission is stuck in my head.
Check the OP.

ok, this may or may not have been answered already, but what the hell are those little icons under the plane type? Like, first it'll be a bunch of minus signs or something, then they all turn into plus signs, and then diamonds. I'm confused as to their significance.

sweet, thanks and bookmarked...heh..thanks to context, its easy to figure out what Fox One/two means, but its cool to know what it actually refers to
is there a strat guide out there for AC5 besides the intraweb? manual doesn't do shit to explain experience and skill rates and whatever....need INPUT!!

That shows the number of kills racked up with that craft.
Get enough kills and the icons will turn into Pac-Man and ghosts!

Well, I wasn't but now you've put that thought in my head.
It retains the shift you just made, so you can keep moving it until you're ready for the next mission.

I'm going to hell.
Hold L2 and R2 for "Autopilot," which levels your plane.
[spoiler:2f07c3a475]My full name? Patrick James Carr.
My lady friend even always calls me Patrick James.[/spoiler:2f07c3a475]
I thought that was all kinds of awesome.
[spoiler:a9f1e11872]He gets laser'ed =\ but I sort of saw that coming... [/spoiler:a9f1e11872]

Enlist in Star Citizen! Citizenship must be earned!
Shack on the Target? I think AC made it up.
thanks...but do you know what the five refers to? Five what by Five what? I've always wondered about that.

The F-22 is not exactly the same as the YF-22.check it
Either way I'm glad the F-22 is in the game.

Alot of chatter was in 4 if I remember.
http://www.tailhook.org/AVSLANG.htm
By alignment, I meant mercenary/knight... thanks though
I'm hoping AC4 doesn't have any artificial roadblock BS to deal with, since I'm looking to pick it up.
Mercenary = blow up all the Yellow targets.
Knight = ignore all the Yellow targets.
Soldier = blow up half of the Yellow targets.
Because the song from the very last mission is stuck in my head.
Check the OP.
And is it just me, or are most of the tracks in that link slightly slowed-down versions of the in-game tracks?
I've been getting Mercenary on every single mission
"Low-life mercenaries! Only you would be so cowardly as to shoot down a plane that's out of commission!"
