They need a full rogue gallery present for one. Epic boss battles, possibly taking place across the city where plausible (GG, GG2, HG, Venom, Carnage, Ock, etc.). Mysterio seems more like a contained area baddie. I guess depending if it was done well, Venom and Carnage might be better in enclosed areas to simply for the fear factor though chasing or being chased (well) in a finale would be exhilirating and not in a "We need to get to doc ocks base in record time but if you dont have max swinging or don't do it perfectly on an exact route you're fucked" way.
Some environment destruction, not on the scale of the Hulk and destroying buildings but if enemies could slam you into a building or vice versa and you see some actual impact and feedback, that would be awesome.
Full supporting character gallery, preferably sans the MJ relationship. Don't care if its hinted but it needs to be independent of hte movies and preferably the comics because it always seems to boil down to race missions with her OR/AND the villain uses her as a bargaining chip. What hapenned to end of the world/city and your constant doom hanging over you? Its a tired story-line thing, in most areas but especially in Spider-Man, it was the finale of every single film.
Cameos.
Unlockable costumes and I don't mean Venom suit without restrictions.
A 12#/Teen rating. I mean do we know who this is aimed at yet? Friend or foe people or normal people?
the fact that you want carnage in a game pretty much invalidates everything else you've said.
If you want to have the game be the exact same as Spider-Man 3 or Friend or Foe because I want a full rogue gallery in there including characters who can cause large scale threat, then thats fine.
hey that's cool. if you want to put the worst character ever created for the spider-man universe in to a game, you go right ahead.

(Black Cat is also what the next Spider-Man movie needs. Eliza Dushku.)
Yesss.
If I knew how to draw, I'd draw up some sketches of Faith in black leather with white and black hair.
If I remember the commentary right, in the movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back the black leather outfits the women wear for the heist were actually modeled after the Black Cat's costume. If you wanted something else to go off of that is.

Please don't give me a reason to see that movie. Kevin Smith films are alright but I really hate Jay and Silent Bob.
It just seems like they already have the black suit in there with all of the tendril effects and crap, so all they'd need to do is make a skin and a model, and maybe toy with the hit detection animations.
So are you going to tell me why this is laughable?
I realize there is more to is than what I said, but honestly, the meat and potatoes of it is there. It's not like they'd have to completely redo the game to add him as a playable character since he would play and handle exactly the same.
Oh, sorry, I thought you were being ironic. :S
Stuff like this is decided way in advance and it really isn't that simple. I'm assuming you were talking about Venom?
Venom would animate completely differently and have an entirely different moveset. A whole new set of voices/sounds would have to be created, and his moves would have to be balanced so people wouldn't just play as Venom the whole time. We already had Ultimate.
My point is that it really isn't as simple as you make it out to be. If you were arguing for an unlockable Venom costume that Spidey wore then fair enough, but a new character requires a rewrite at the design document level.
You do realize that Venom is the primary antagonist in this game, right?
And I'm talking about him being something you unlock for beating the game or doing something ridiculous not from the get-go.
I'm not saying they can just snap their fingers to make him playable, but a lot of the assets are probably already there, and you'd think they'd put two and two together in the design stage and realize that they could add more replay value by recycling some assets like that.

i don't remember the MAXIMUM WALRUS story arc, inform me.
So 1up launched a new podcast to replace EGM Live, it's called 1up FM. I listened to their debut episode over the weekend and the middle segment is a lengthy interview with Chris Sholz, the head of Shaba Games. I didn't even care about this game until I heard them discuss it, and now I'm very interested in it.
podcast is here and it's definitely worth listening to the interview with Chris Sholz. They even talk about the ill-fated Grind Session and how Shaba ended up being stuck developing extreme sports games for ten years. :P

Man.. These guys are really boring compared to the guys on that show that did the David Hayter interview.
So as someone who doesn't really keep up on the comics (though I'm starting USM), what's so bad about Carnage?
I was under the impression he was a popular character.
"okay, we've got venom right, check this out
what if we make another venom, only he's even more crazy and he's red, then, we make a whole big crossover about him and it ends up being terrible, then, we'll keep him around any time we want to make venom look like less of an asshole"
"Sounds great, write it up!"
