I really wish there was some sort of setting you could activate to have the SOP system always be on. Nobody seems to use it when playing outside of clans, and having to re-establish a link once you die is a royal pain. Not to mention not having an established link to the SOP system makes half the skills useless.
Plus there's nothing more fun than going through the trouble of getting a scanner into one of your enemies only to find their team isn't linked up.
I kind of wonder if all these randoms I'm playing have it on, and I'm killing people more through actual aiming ability while they get a lock on me.
Seems kind of ... cheap. Maybe I didn't try it long enough to get the hang of it, but I can play just fine in FPS mode with "Remember View" flipped on.
No. Since auto-aim isn't defaulted to on, no one uses it.
Makes leveling Narc a bitch, I'd say I see about one person an hour with auto-aim on. Which means maybe 1 out of 50 players.
And auto-aim with an smg is really powerful. Same effectiveness as aiming headshots. With a lot less work. I run aiming straight, and suddenly lock on to someone sniping from a roof that I didn't even see, papapap, he's dead, walk forward still staring at the roof, and suddenly I'm locked onto someone at the bottom right, who just turned a corner, papapap, killed, run past grass and autolock on a dude laying on the ground in the grass, pappap, etc
It's meh to me. Other team is 100% invisible, but their weapons are 100% visible. So just look for the floating knife/handgun and ratatatatatatatatatatatat
...but I guess I should add something a little more relevant: so master blades is way too much fun.
Shame you have to pair it with CQC for best results (I like runner with my blades ).
Nah you only pair it with cqc for awesome neck slashing results.
Best results is auto-aim on, L1+R2, stand still+x, L1+hold R1. aka stun 'n stab. If you get close enough you don't even have to crouch.
I liked when I first played and got like 3 or 4 head shots in a row with the assault rifle. Fun times.
Then when I was leveling suryeror and SMG and getting 4-5 kills in a row from so far away all pap pap pap pap pap as they slowly try to run. fun fun.
or when I was leveling cqc/scanner/pistol and would grab, poke, choke, headshot.
then leveling trickster/quarterback and standing on the drebin point and spamming nades/magazines
leveling runner and getting 3 SOP bombs in a match
then leveling hawkeye and hating my life.
uh. yeah. I forgot what I was talking about.
Wait,
So to slash someone's throat, all you need is the knife and cqc skills? Then do you just Triangle during a hold?
I used the stun and stab to get master blades mind you. I actually find neck slashing more effective because people hate to shoot at you while you have someone grabbed. They're almost always too afraid to get that SOP lock and if not, the lag will generally give you the kill. Because there's a delay between the knock-down and the crouch, you have plenty of time to lose a kill that was so close because there was a buddy who rounded the corner at the right time. This is just in my experience however.
Plus, I just refuse to use auto-aim...I'm just a stickler on it.

My ex stole my ps3 when she came to get all her clothes and shit.
Oddly she left all the games, blu ray movies, and even the usb charge cable.
Stupid whore.
No MGO for me for a while.
Sure you can, track her down, tranquilise the dog, sneak in and blend with the environment, infiltrate her premises and get it back. Snake Style.
:winky:
Seriously though, that is just wrong. WTF.
Anyone have tips on how to wash this lovely sloth badge (for being susceptible to head shots) that I've gained? But then again it seems like a lot of people I play with have sloth badges...

PSN: ohvermie <- ADD ME FOR STREET FIGHTING ACTION!
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
I find auto aim is fantastic for when your knifing someone or have been thrown to the ground.
What gets me about this game though is the firefights are just so random, not to mention 80% of my kills are me killing someone at the exact same time they kill me.
Is there a guide somewhere online that doesn't just list the skills -- like the official site? I need to know what they do, what they're best paired with, etc.

Noobs ITT.
Few questions:
Most of them I think I understand.
Hawkeye is a bit unclear though.
*Is it the rate from which you change from third to first person that speeds up?
*Or is it actually how far your character zooms in on iron sights? Like extended zoom?
Anyways I just finished playing my first 4 or 5 matches. It was a blast. I seemed to be landing those miracle headshots pretty easy, as long as you burst in the general area, BAM HEADSHOT. I also kept CQC+ on.
I spent most of the match watching snipers flanks and CQCing people. Something is so satisfying about throwing a guy to the ground and headshotting him.
*With CQC+ I can put them in a hold by holding R1 like usual right? I've only been throwing them so far out of overexcitement.
Also I love how the snipers LOS shows up on the battlefield. Its awesome knowing if your sniper is covering you in the street or relocating, without even using voice com.
Hawkeye is extended zoom. my level 2 feels like a sniper scope on my ak now.
But it's a horrible skill. please never equip it ever. ever ever. never. level it last, if you must. I'm hating life right now trying to master the skill.
Do any other skills besides 'Sixth Sense' take up only one slot at level three?
I pretty sure NARC and Monomania take up only one skill slot although i have not gotten to level three with them however, but i still know for a fact that Monomania takes up only one slot at level two.
PA has a clan right? I'd like to join if there is one. I want to start playing with other people regularly since I'm the only one of my friends with a PS3...
Deep crow is the clan name. I had to search for it for a little (it should be in the OP I'd say)
I've been getting more and more into MGO so if any of you in the clan see me on, join in or message me and we can start something. TDM is my mode of choice
Has anybody else had major trouble constantly switching shoulders in the middle of a gunfight? The Playstation controller's sticks are so horrible.
Not at all. In fact the only reason I know that hitting the stick does this was that I tried it yesterday in training because Uncharted does that. You're really getting too intense with your sticks if you're constantly switching shoulders... or your controller's fucked, because I've never had that problem.
Switching shoulders is really useful for "slicing the pie" around corners and is an essential survival technique. Always have your body closest to the wall. If you have your body away from the wall and your aim going toward the wall/corner, they can see and hit you before you can hit them.
Also, if you equip a grenade and spam R3, you look like Donkey Kong.
Also, I am getting very frustrated with instant headshots as soon as anybody sees me. What is the secret?
Now this problem I do have. I dunno, people are just good freaking shots, for the most part. I was saying in this thread that the other day I had a horrible round that just made me quit for the night. I literally didn't walk more than 20 steps total the whole round. Every time I even got anywhere I'd get 1 shot'd from across the map with some guy and his submachine gun.
Don't use Iron Sights unless you have an XM Assault Rifle or Sniper Rifle (the XM has a Red Dot sight, and all the Sniper Rifles have scopes). It takes too long, and you can easily get headshots shooting "from the hip", as it were. You need to maintain your mobility while you are shooting, as well. I generally line up the two "bottom dots" of the square around the enemy's shoulders and spray while strafing back and forth. Use short bursts, don't hold down the full auto. Certain weapons are better for headshotting than others (auto-pistol, P90, all Assault Rifles, etc.). You're not really aiming for the head, you're moving the cursor in the area around the head, if that makes sense.
It also helps to get the drop on other people. Heh.
Honestly, I really like the auto-aim... it levels the playing field for folks who can't get consistent headshots and makes for a much more challenging game for me. It also makes the default 0 DP SMG Skorpion a god (lock on at around 15m and does great damage, compared to the P90).
The auto aim is worthless in my opinion. Even with the max lock on range you have to be within spitting distance of someone to initiate a successful lock. Not to mention your sacrificing three skill slots and people can still kill you from across the map in one shot with a pistol.
While were at this I'm also not a fan of the one hit kill headshots. Sure with a sniper that's fine and all, but when you can get sniped from across the map with the pistol the game is no longer about skill and is only about who has the best connection.

Someone mentioned in the Kotaku comments that its 1500y in Japan, 15 bucks here.
3 Maps, San Hiernymo Power Station (finally a outdoor map), Underground Waterway and City of Sorrow.
2 characters, Johnny and Meryl.
A "survival" mode where you can earn points you can use to buy gear at the "Reward Shop".. or something
Female characters
another character slot
Also factoring in that the 15 dollars thing is just a guess based on the Japanese price, keep your fingers crossed they'll make it a bit cheaper when it's actually released over there. I wonder when they'll actually get round to releasing it in America and Europe.

Pistols and SMGs lock on at 14-15 meters (with about 1 more meter with each level of Lock-On for a total distance of 17-18 meters). Everything else is terrible to use with lock-on (max distance of about 3-5 meters, depending on the weapon). You don't HAVE to use improved lock-on when auto-aim is on... it increases the distance, but only by a barely significant amount.
Again, when it's on, it levels the playing field, giving folks without the headshot skillz a chance to kill things at medium range. At close range, it's all CQC and Shotties anyway, but only a few close quarters maps and game modes support this type of play well (Base Control, Defend the Ga-Ko, etc.).
You also cannot get sniped across a map with a pistol... they have a maximum effective range (around 30 meters, I think... I was disappointed with the Deagle). I have seen some impressive shots at that range, though, but you can't sit behind the billboard in the Middle East streets map and shoot people all the way down the street.
In the beta, all weapons had the 15 meter lock-on range, which made shotguns with solid slugs very deadly. You never missed (even if they rolled), you took off half of their life with a single hit, and knocked them down. I'm glad they toned it down a bit.
The 15 dollars is for the extra character slot + the expansion, I think. If you get it without the extra character slot, I think it's 10 dollars, but I'm not sure. All of the websites describing the expansion are in Japanese. :-P
Meryl and Johnny Akiba are available as a special mode on some maps (like "Drebin Points enabled" or "Headshots only", etc.). They are the "leader" of each respective squad. Johnny apparently CAN crap his pants (or at least that's what people are saying), which leads to him running around with a stinking cloud behind him.
The Underground Sewers level has running water! And you can swim AND drown in it!
I've been eagerly anticipating the underground waterway map ever since the MGO trailer was released way back when. Hopefully it will be a good place for some decent firefights without the interference of snipers nailing you halfway across the map with the M14 or DSR Consider the expansion bought Konami!
uh, i've sniped across the map at people in towers with my pistol
Could be just the Deagle, then, on the Middle East map. That's the only one I've tested. Me and a friend sat across each other on ground level on that map on the long street and basically emptied clips in single precise shots at each other, standing, advancing 1 meter each time we finished a clip (reloading the game when necessary).
Just finished up MGS4. Holy shit what a ride, what an ending. Holy Shit. Holy Shit.
Anyways, I can join up games just fine. I also have NAT at type 2.
When I try to host a game however, I get an error. 0693:00000001. And I can't start the game.
Anyways, I opened up the port in MGO and what ports I could find that PSN needed.
I'll toy with it a bit more. Any more headaches and I'll just put it on a DMZ or something.
