Everytime I logon nobody is playing.
Where is the DEEP CROW?! It's nice helping my teamates, but I currently feel as if my E. Locators and other support moves are being wasted on pubbies.
Once I fix my host problems, I'll do my best to keep up a regular night, to keep some momentum going.
Me and some friends have lately gotten really into the game again. We been playing online almost nightly, so I'm usually on then.
Wanna add me on PSN? I wish I could check the roster when I wasn't in game, to see who is playing.
Whats the normal time that everyone logs on at?
Anyways, now that I finished MGS I am gonna spend today on MGO and playing the other PS3 games I just got. Exciting stuff, I love my new PS3. Though, only 2 of my friends own PS3's, everyone else I know has a 360. Not that I care, it'd just be nice to have a few more IRL friends playing with me.
I'm adding you guys to my friend's list.
My tag is brownchiclets, so don't be surprised when you get it. I'll probably be on through out the day, and tonight for sure.
It feels kinda sad to have 100 friends on XBL and 0 on PSN
PSN is "Klyka"
Thats exactly how my consoles look right now. XBL is social butterfly, while my PS3 is loner central.
I've only had it for a few weeks however.
edit: Holy crap, when you find a good host, CQC is so fun. Way more than the last MGO.
Got to play a SNE mission too. I didn't play as snake, but I did have a smart team of players. It was pretty badass moving in squads of 3 or 4. Each man facing a direction covering eachothers flanks. Between SOP and the minimap, this game makes it too easy to coordinate with strangers. I love it.
So did anyone find out what happens as you level up your character? Do you ever earn gear? This is absurd they won't let us change our gear, or even the color of it.
And $15? I'd be hard-pressed to buy that expansion for $5.
They should make the MGO that came with MGS4 a "Sampler" and release a $30 booster later on. I'd be okay with that if it had a ton of new stuff. I know they were initially planning on doing that, but people brought up points like "Halo 3 has a Single Player and a multiplayer and it's one game" and nothing can be said to argue with that..
Right now it's playing like a slow Counter-Strike. I have to spend half the game trying to collect enough DB for the next gun. But then once I start unlocking the good stuff, the game ends. Or if everything is unlocked by the host, then half the guns are pointless because the other guns are all superior.
Or then you die and lose all your points anyways. I don't really think MGO was suppose to be MGS4 Online but a seperate component that was just included with MGS4.
Far as clan leader goes.. pretty much everyone is on the fence about the game with only a few people really enjoying it. Im one of the fence people. However, I'd be fine with admin duties if thats all thats required.
I find myself enjoying MGO immensly when I can find a non laggy room.
Seriously, if you have a DSL connection DO NOT host a room for 16 people. I'm not dying as soon as I spawn, I somehow seem to be dying BEFORE I even spawn.
Really though, I am enjoying this game. It's a tactical shooter, I don't see why it should be the same pace as CS. Seeing how Metal Gear has put an emphasis on tactical, I appreciate the gameplay being based around positioning and trickery.
It's like everything I wanted out of the first MGO but more. Now I just need some damn people to play with. I'll even buy the pack when it comes out. I just get this feeling I am missing out on a huge chunk of the experience by not playing with people I can support.
ah, the dreaded backlog. I have one to tackle myself since getting the ps3. But I just have so much fun playing MGO. It's especially fun at my low level because the pubbies are playing it like CS or COD4, running and gunning. This of course makes it that much easier for me to setup some fun traps or CQC setups.
I think people find the pacing in this game really off because they aren't playing it slowly or methodically enough.

What really kills it for me is the lack of team communication since almost no one has headsets.
Me and my friends have resorted to setting up a Call of Duty lobby room in our 360's, and chatting through that since 2 of them don't have headsets, and mine is pretty crappy quality. It's amazing how much fun the game becomes with teamwork.

I've met exactly ONE person with a mic so far in random games.
Out of the hundred or so people I've played with, ONE had a mic.
SOP does a pretty good job at filling the void, but nothing beats voice com. If it helps your friends, alot of places are selling old budget bluetooth sets for 10-20 dollars now. I get a little feedback in my cheapy one, but for the most part it works good, and the ONE user I met said he can hear me just fine.
Holy crap PikaPuff. Fun games despite the lag.
Like I said, I got a Fios connection, so as soon as I figure out why my draconian firewall, ahates MGO despite opening up every port, I will host some greasy smooth games. Especially if you are on the west coast.
When you first joined Pika we had a pretty entertaining little duel. Coming in trying to land CQC, then running for cover, trying to out juke one another. This game is all about mind games, I fucking love it.
Now does hawkeye along with all of the weapon+ skills require you to hit your target to rank up, or can you just run around shooting in their general direction?
Little more info about the GENE EXPANSION for Europe. It's going to cost about £8 (around $15).
15 is a little much, I'd be happy at the 10 dollar mark. There still seems like a good deal of content.
Special characters were insanely fun to play as in the first MGO. It's cool seeing all the grunts follow the hero, its like having instant in game charisma to your team.
If this was 10-12 bucks it would hit my sweet spot as far as add on's go. I don't feel like I can fully judge the scope of this one until we all try out survival.
I want MGO to be my favourite online game. I'm a god-damn whore for the Metal Gear series, but so far MGO is just "pretty good". I want it to really hit it's fullest potential.
I'm hoping with these updates, it'll be able to achieve that.
I feel as though lag kills this game. Even with a good connection in a medium population room I still find myself having tremendous lag problems that have yet to happen with any of my other PS3 games.
-Getting stabbed from 10 ft away
-Killing someone only to drop dead from their bullets 5 seconds later
-Using CQC on someone only to have my own stamina bar hit zero and pass out despite the game showing me on top of my target strangling them
are all issues that happen on a frequent basis, not to mention getting shot from bullets that apparently have the ability to take 90 degree turns around corners and what not.

I've been in a few horrid games like this. I just leave and try to find a host with a better rating. I think MGO needs to do a better job a realizing who shouldn't host. Expecially chumps trying to host 16 people through their tiny connection while downloading bit torrents.
Edit: So after fucking with my ports for a bit, we're still making no progress here at the house. Gotta set up a DMZ on an entirely different network. Which means one of the ethernet cable's in my room need to be reheaded.
In english: Tomorrow I will begin hosting a dedicated server. Unless I log on, in which case I'll be host player. I got a fat connection and if you are one the west coast or near, you will love it.
Any specific rule sets anyone wants?
well this is fun...
After not being able to buy the expansion last night because the servers are overloaded I tried again this morning... like 8 hours later. Shit is still down. I didn't think there were enough MGO players to cause this kind of pain.

I just think Konami is really, really bad at this thing.
Like, what other game makes you buy add ons through the web? I downloaded Warhawk expansion pack without any hassle.
May be time zone incremented release. I am on a military network so my IP may be east coast... even though I can see the pacific ocean out the window lol

The only real requirements for Clan Leader is playing MGO and not being a dick enough to disband.
Also- since I love wasting money, if no one else is going to risk it, I'll take the pluge and get the ex pack

PS3 is so utterly fucking borken when it comes to updates.
I can't even get into the my konami page to buy the expansion... I think the horrid Rock Revo presentation today killed konami's servers.
