I'll try again tomorrow or this weekend. Then I'll start up with the new female character. Kind of annoying since I've almost reached lvl3 (master?) for my assault rifle and knife skills on my guy character. I wish the skills would at least transfer, even if other stats won't.

Sadly I keep getting automatched to rooms with old maps. I'll auto join a server later.
Ok, so Kojima puts this huge emphasis oh powerful female characters, like the boss, or big mama.
So how come all the female soldiers have just gotten out of high school? I wanted to play as a badass wartorn grizzled old female. But noooo, I am just a cute little girl. Where the hell is my skipping and hopscotch animation?
Edit: Played some sneaking on all the new levels. Got to play as Akiba and Meryl. Akiba can't go into the SOP, but he can pretend like he is. When you hit triangle, he waves back at the team, or does an awesome pose. If your health or psyche drop low, you WILL shit your pants. He can't CQC. But his rifle has like no recoil.
Meryl is just badass. She can snipe with the deagle and kick ass. Also when you hit triangle she rests her hand on her hip and shifts her weight all sexy-like.
Both characters can equip and unequip balaclavas. Don't ask me why I find this exciting, I just do. Being a ninja on a moments call is important to me as a player.
I haven't played the new maps myself yet but I ran a dedicated server last night only using them. If anyone is interested I may host a new maps game tonight.

This week's Survival Battle Cancelled
Please be made aware that the "Survival" games scheduled for the weekend of 18-20/07/2008 have been cancelled.
We would like to apologize for all inconveniences caused.
Official Survival matches are held in the Survival Lobby.
Only players who have purchased the Expansion Pack will be able to join.
In Survival, you can go to battle with a team of up to 6 players.
Recruit members, put together a team, go through the entry process, and Survival will start.
The battle will continue until you win a set number of matches in a row or your team loses.
All members of your team will receive “Rewards” for winning matches.
You can trade in these Rewards for gearat the Reward Shop found under Personal Data.
The more matches your team wins in a row, the more Rewards you will earn.
How you perform in matches played in the Survival Lobby will affect your level, score, skill growth, personal stats, clan stats, and grade.
It should be noted survival can only be done like 3 days out of the week, during a set block of hours.
Ugh. That's terrible. Especially for those people who don't have a lot of time to play. Now I have to be sitting on the machine at a specific time on a specific date in order to enjoy the game fully? Bad Konami, Bad! Almost guarantees that I'll never be able to customize my character.

I don't think you need to play Survival to get reward points. I don't even have the expansion, and I have 540 reward points.
I wonder if you have to find your teamates, or will the game randomly pair you up with them if you don't have enough for a full team of 6.
It's like a matchmaking party type system. Which actually seems quite intuitive.
I guess they limit the days it can be done to keep people from getting too many points? I don't know the logic behind it honestly.
Survival mode seems like a welcome change, but the fact that it can only be done on Fri, Sat, and Sun during prime time hours is more than odd. In fact, it's stupid.
A bunch of new features outside of the expansion have been added. New skills, new clan features, various fixes to drebin prices and what not.
Not to mention we have gotten a brand new game type for free.
Still after this fiasco, people won't remember or care. This has left the ultimate of bad tastes in alot of peoples mouths.

Oh, you can't access them. Supposedly you use reward points inside of the shop at Konami's website. But when you go to it, it just takes you back to the main page. I am assuming it is down. Like everything else in this clusterfuck also known as an expansion release.

2 questions for those playing longer than I.
How do you take screenshots with the 2nd controller or keyboard?
How the hell did you guys level your knife? I have a real good CQC ratio, and I kick ass at it. But now that I am using the knife I am getting owned. Even using auto lock. I always seem 1 step too far and get headshotted. Is this supposed to be harder than CQC? Any tips guys?
equip the camera from the item quickmenu, then hit L1(?) on a second controller to take pics. You'll lose your interface while you have the camera equipped. You can still aim thanks to the camera reticule though.
I leveled up my knife skills by stunning and crouch knifing. I don't do the one-hit stab kills that you can do while lying face down on the floors much.
And yeah, this whole thing is pretty fucked up. I STILL cannot buy the expansion, and it's driving me nuts.

When I bought the expansion it was through my PC browser. Oh and checkout after punching in credit card information I got an error screen. I checked my credit card acct but activity didn't show up yet. So I logged in and I had the expansion. So I guess it did charge me.

Anyways, after toying with the knife I got a good technique that incorporates the ease of CQC.
Do a normal grab, switch to knife while grabbing, (give em a quick scan if you got it), let them go. As soon as you let go, crouch, lock on, ZZZZZZTTTTTTTTT. Knock out.
I haven't perfected it yet, but it seems to be working a bit easier. Obviously its a bit more situational as far as use goes.

L1+R2 autoaim for stun, then L1+HoldR1 for death stab. The range is a little more ambiguous than CQC. You get used to it.
The Stun Knife is actually very powerful. Equal to a lot of the good weapons.
