Wow it seems the konami ID page is still mucked up. I've been trying for the past 3 days or so and I still can't seem to register.
edit: FINALLY! Once I got my email it took forever for it to take my confirmation. I've got a bad feeling this BS isn't just for the beta. I hope they get hammered for not using the standard PSN name/pass. Whole thing is just stupid.
Well I hope you guys can register soon, because the beta will start in about an hour, apparently. I know it's Sunday and not Monday, but just like the download, it appears the beta will start by their (Konami's) time zone. So here's hoping, and keep trying to register!
Edit: Of course, if it does go up at about 5:00 PM CST, and going by how things have gone so far, I bet we'll have a hell of a time just trying to get connected to Konami's network with our Game ID's and into a server.

You know what's bullshit? I started downloading their update for MGO yesterday using peer to peer and it's at 40%. Let me say that again, my PS3 has been on for 32 hours and the download is only at 40%. What the hell is up with that?
I've not been able to play any other PS3 games because the download won't run in the background. Thanks Konami.
Edit: I'm of the opinion of that if a game's structure isn't ready to go to OPEN beta then it shouldn't go to open beta. Konami obviously isn't prepared server wise. They're putting all of there fans through a lot of hassle.

Well I'm just tired of hearing that response. Why doesn't someone have the right to be upset when something doesn't work the way it should, especially when problems could easily have been foreseen?
They sent out a specific number of codes. Not everyone who pre-orders is going to get one. They knew the maximum numbers before hand, so they should have been prepared for the traffic. Hell, I spent five days just trying to register. WickerBasket has left his PS3 on for 32 hours to download a small update, an update he's only 40% on at. And since you can't run the download in the background, he can't exactly go and play some of the other games on his system.
Once we're finally able to login with one of three of our IDs, who knows if we'll even be able to get into any of the servers. We've only got a very limited time to play the beta, and if people spend a majority of that time unable to register or connect, well, they'll be upset. It's not like I'm foaming at the mouth or anything, cursing Konami, so don't get me wrong. Just because you're upset doesn't mean you have to be stomping your feet. I'm just saying, people have the right to be a little upset, and it's disappointment more than anger. We just want to play!

Maybe we shouldn't get our hopes too up, technically this isn't supposed to start until tommorow.
But it IS tomorrow. Maybe not for us, but for Konami, and it's going on their clock. It was the same for the download. The slip said download on the 17th, but it went up on the 16th because for them it was the 17th. :P The site even says the servers are online. So we should be able to play today, if the log in system ever works. But who knows. I'm not going to make too big of a deal of it, anyways. I do have some homework to do.

Has anyone here been able to login? I keep getting "Unable to connect to server.(090B:00000001)". Also, I never did get a confirmation email when I made my konamiID. I think it said in the instructions that one would be sent, but I've checked my email, including my spam folders and still see nothing after a few hours.
There had better be a fucking clan option after all of this.
If they don't have one I am going to freak. Going out of our way to make all this, they better be offering something unique that they can't do with PSN accounts.

This thing is a mess and I think I can safely say that if this beta is a sign of things to come, I'll be staying completely away from it (and I say this as a MG nut). I'm not talking about the server uploads, I can understand that they may have completely underestimated the demand (though they must've known how many US and Japanese gamers were in the beta), I'm talking about the other shit.
The Konami ID thing is absolute bullshit and the patch is retarded. Why the hell isn't the patch downloaded when you boot the game up, like nearly every other PS3 game? I'm pretty sure Sony hosts those patches and I find it hard to believe they'd do any worse than Konami.

Well at least I was finaly able to get into the konami ID page. Well at least they extended the beta till november.... Wait a minute I thought the game came out in freakin' June.
WTH konami. Still loves me some metal gear.
At least I got broken mirror to keep me ocupied till they get everything smoothed out.
If you check the European pages it says those are delayed as well. Only the Japanese arent getting the delay.
Apparently the problem largely came from too many Europeans overloading the servers because they just made the beta available to EVERYONE instead of having to get a code to download it.

Konami Europe are incompetant, didn't you know? They just love to forget that MGS sells better in Europe than it does in the US or Japan.
Harakhti: There's no way in hell Sony would let Konami provide DLC outside of the PSN service (since they wouldn't get their cut of the royalties). If Konami tried it, Sony wouldn't let them release the game.
And as much of an absolute mess MGO is, I think Kojima (and Ryan Payton) has enough brains to realise that raping people with DLC is a real good way of totally fucking off the fanbase beyond just a shitty beta.
