Questions....
Why is there the WB logo on there? Something like this should only have the DC and Midway/MK logos.
And I hope to god this isn't just a simple comic-crossover.
There could be stuff like movie costumes, which would bring the WB into play.
Actually Batman didn't shoot people too terribly often and they had phased out the gun thing entirely within two or three years of his introduction. The only vaguely notable person he shot was the vampire Monk, if I remember right.
I was exagerating. I only honestly remember him shooting one time.
But he did used to KILL people plenty. So did Superman. I remember a comic where Superman accidentally snapped the neck of the bad guy, and just shrugged it off.

Hmm...?
Ed Boon's personal website has been running a countdown, it just expired recently and now there's this weird image up.
You can go find the original Street Fighter 2 for 30 cents at some kid's flea market and have a better fighter on your hands than Deadly Alliance.
Now come on, that's not fair. You could say the same of practically any fighting game. There are still those who swear SFII is still the best fighting game ever, and there's merit to that claim.
That's why I said the original SF2, which I don't think many will claim is still among the best. Subsequent iterations like SSF2T, yes, but the original is pretty flawed by comparison. It relies as much on nostalgic value as MK2 does.
But, hey, we can also include, I don't know, King of Fighters '94 or even Eternal Champions, both of which you can get for Virtual Console. They're simple, flashy, and EC even has fatalities. I can go on if you wish.
MK is the last remnant of a time when bad fighters roamed the market, and somehow it has still managed to be successful; presumably because of its strong brand. Except you'd think by now that they would have the competency to actually craft a somewhat good game. But their strategy remains the same; ship out a shitty fighter in a package of decent graphics, good visual design, a boatload of impressive fatalities, a fuckton of unlockables, and even other games like kart racing, chess and a whole action/adventure mode to hide the fact that they're not very good at making fighting games. They're actually pretty good value for your money, if you consider how much time you can spend with them before having seen everything, which is pretty much the point of the new MK games. This still doesn't make them good fighters, though.
Edit: I totally forgot to give props to Shaolin Monks which was, for all intents and purposes, a very good game. They should make more of those.
Why aren't people getting it?
These games, they are not for you.
There is room in the gaming market for casual fighting games, and that is most certainly what MK has always been. Yet any time a fighter gets released that has anything less than the most unforgiving of mechanics, people talk about how much better King of Fighters is.
It's not the same kind of game. It's not made for the hardcore. It's the Call of Duty to KoF's Operation Flashpoint. Both have plenty of reason to exist, and one isn't necessarily worse than the other.
My friends and I have a blast playing MK games against each other. That's because that's what they're made for: people to have fun without being punished. I'm sorry that some people don't understand this, but there are people who play games who don't want to memorize intimate details about a certain game to enjoy it - they just want to pick it up and have fun.

I hope gorm is industry slang for "Green Arrow's fatality is he shoots your head off, William Tell style", and rotor wombat is the codename for Midway and files means they submitted it and everyone was fine with it.

Can't say I saw this coming. They said they were ditching the story after Armageddon along with the majority of the characters (save for stables like Scorpion and Sub-Zero) and doing something completely different.
This certainly qualifies for completely different.
Then again this might draw in some folk, since there hasn't been a DC fighting game in a dog's age.
Then again again, this is going to piss off most of MK's fanbase.
I think the main problem with MK is that the controls are more casual-oriented, but most casuals are turned off by bloody decapitations. So maybe this new tamer game will actually work, I dunno.
I just...can't see how this is a good fit. I want to, and the idea of batman destroying goro is appealing, but I just can't see anyway this will turn out well.
...as gamers, we've historically set aside premise, story, graphics, and a whole hell of a lot as long as the game is awesomely fun...
...but seriously, what was the last good Mortal Kombat game? UMK3? What was that, like 12 years ago? I have no problem with MK vs DC, I have a problem with the fact that a good fighting game hasn't come out of this franchise in over a decade.

Agreed, I would like to be excited by this, but the 3D Mortal Kombats have all stunk more than a stable full of horses with very loose bowels.
I don't know why everyone's so down on the MK games. Mortal Kombat Trilogy was about ten years ago, and that was good. Mortal Kombat 4 was good. The Mortal Kombats since 4 have been sort of derivative, but not bad.
Granted, nothing has been as good as Mortal Kombat 2, but it's not some horrible series or anything, even if it's not exactly relevant anymore.

I love how people are saying the 3d MK's have sucked but don't give any reasons for it, I still think that MK Deception was easily one of the best Mortal Kombats released, it just had the a decent fighting system, great fatalities and just was pretty fun to play.
I honestly think a fighting game is better when it doesn't try to cater to some super-hardcore, nutty fanbase.
I just wish they'd put a fat geek as a secret character in the MK games. But he can't fight. He can only use harsh words, and ultimately do nothing but bitch.

MK2 was the best of the 2D MKs (and arguably the best MK period).
Deception was the best of the 3D's. Armageddon could have been the best, but they went and gimped the fatality system and for some reason made it really unintuitive to figure out how to lay down anything bigger than a 3-hit combo.
I don't know why everyone's so down on the MK games. Mortal Kombat Trilogy was about ten years ago, and that was good. Mortal Kombat 4 was good.
I haven't played MK since MK4. I couldn't stand MKTrilogy because it used the horrible MK3 engine. MK3 just wasn't much fun for me. I loved MK2, but MK3 felt so... off. So bland. And it didn't make things better that they whored out that engine - MK3, UMK3, MK Trilogy, MK Advanced, MKDS... bleh. Too many games with too poor of an engine.
I also disliked MK4 because everyone felt too generic. I mean, everyone basically had the exact same dial-in combo, which cut off very early.
I hear the more modern MKs were pretty good, but I haven't given them a go.
Midway would be wise to make this game play as much like MK3 as Marvel vs Capcom played like Street Fighter II. Honestly, if this is over the top like Marvel Vs Capcom, with maybe a Motor Kombat style, I could see this being fun.

Rumours say that Boon didn't get enough funding for his vision because of Midway's financial problems.
You guys need to relax. Just take in the ride. Who gives a shit why Superman can get beat up by Scorpion?
Just let it happen. It'll be hilarious.
Warner Bros. OWNS DC
Batman used to shoot people ALL THE TIME.
The whole no gun thing wasn't around at the begining of Batman.
Also, the first Batman comics had random sound effect baloons.
But ya know . . .
But he did used to KILL people plenty. So did Superman. I remember a comic where Superman accidentally snapped the neck of the bad guy, and just shrugged it off.

I'd assume it's related, if this DC thing is real...

anagram at the bottom is
EMBARGO LIFTS TOMORROW
or is it "rotor wombat files gorm"?
Harley vs Mileena?
Clayface vs Goro?
and who was the drunk guy that had a vomit attack? Put him up against Batman.
I'd play that.
bamegor flist mrotwoom
could be any dude who wears black's hand, though

yeah I believe it was mentioned on giantbomb that the embargo would be up later tonight

Of course, this also leads to the no sense of Joker/Darkseid.
If Darkseid is in this, I would be obligated to purchase despite having not been interesting in MK in probably a decade.
I agree.
They should have used the real Batman and Sub-zero. Instead of these fake-ass CGI renders.

It is not meant to be a serious game, and that is fine.
