Tell me, how does one actually go about pronouncing that name?
By pretending to be sure the way you said it was correct , and then hope no one else calls you out on it. Also I wouldn't mind a Diablo 3 I loved my werewolf druid.

That seems to be the standard fantasy way of doing things.
I was watching a league match final for Supreme Commander recently, and the commentators had said how they had asked a representative from GPG to come up on stage and actually pronounce the names for one of the sides that they had come up with.
Hahahaha, you're funny. How about better balancing skill sets so that there are more viable strategies late game? How about making the server code more robust so there's no duping/drophacks? How about assigning loot items so there's no ninja looting or racing to grab everything? How about fixing the PVP netcode so that melee characters can actually manage to hit someone with increased running speed? Or making it so that you can't rush a level 5 character and have him leech experience from a party of level 80+? Or how about improving the friends system so you can follow people into games and don't need to memorize account names to whisper people? Or implemented an auction house? If they just took what made Diablo II awesome, removed all the suck, made it look and sound great, and added some more modern infrastructure improvements, it would rock hard.
If you want to spend your $$ on that, fine, but I'd rather have them invigorate/revive a new genre. What they did to roguelikes, MMOs and RTSes was good and I'd like to see them doing something like that to other genres.
You're not really convincing me that having a major developer going all sequelitis on us is a good thing. Scrapping Ghost was probably the right thing to do, but that doesn't invalidate the whole idea of a Blizzard FPS.
Hmmn, just looked up the domain name, it's contract doesn't expire until november 2009 with the current owner, but maybe he will relqinquish ownership on may 1st
I've ben playing MMORPG's since Ultima Online back in 1997, I know just how bastardized the genre has become. WoW is a total EQ clone, through and through... that doesn't mean it isn't less successful. Blizzard isn't dumb, releasing a free to play RPG would only take money out of their own pockets.
Yeah obviously WoW makes them a lot of money, but a subscription-free online RPG gives them an opportunity to bring in new customers that shy away from monthly fees. Some people may suspend their WoW subscriptions to play it, but I think there's enough new customers waiting to make it worth their while.

That's just crazy enough to be true!

I'd love to proven wrong, but I'm always right. Sorry guys.

I accept your challenge. However, I wanna' lay down some rules here. I will only bet my cock:
1: This is an assured release of Diablo III.
2: No bullshit like "We are considering making a third diablo."
3: There is a likewise bet from your side of the field. An eye for an eye.
4: Noone remembers that I ever said this.
This way everyone wins, and someone loses a cock. Fun times are had by all.

So not only do you have to deal with the agonising and horrifying reality of having your penis removed, but then you have to consume it whole.
I mean, I'm sure that both scenarios are unappetizing, having your cock cut off and having a cock presented to you to eat. Together they make a horrible scenario where you wish you had filled up on bread sticks first.
Wrong! Blizzard is immune to all the problems with selling PC exclusive games. Any console versions will be a really late after-thought that doesn't sell very well (like the PS Diablo and N64 Starcraft ports).

Looking back, that was really quick on my part, because as soon as I saw that there was a Diablo II thread I went looking for my discs...
And so it was that many a bed was left unused as their owners went to the webs to play Diablo 3 or to find someone to substitute for the spouse that was playing diablo 3.
All kidding aside, I never got that into D or D2 but understand what people liked about it. So what do you think the single player campaign will be like. I mean, I know its too early for conjecture but one of the things that kept me from getting to play it a lot was talking with people in camp and how static the dungeons could be. I mean, it was fun laying waste to everything in sight and trying to carry as many fountain buffs as possible and balancing mana and health, but it just wasn't for me I would have liked a little more variety.
So yeah, the only realistic possibility of this being an announcement anybody really cares about is if that's the day Blizzard buys the domain from them. Even if that's it I certainly wouldn't expect an official announcement and fully fledged site. They'll probably just make it redirect to battle.net or something until they're ready.

Things the May 1 Announcement are not:
1. It is not an official announcement of Diablo 3
2. It is not about an upcoming Diablo novel
3. It is not a Network merge
Full post is spoilered for hugosity
In the past days there have been a lot of activity in the network sites after the countdown teaser. A few forum threads keep continuous debate between Diablo fans of what this announcement will be. I have given a few responses of what it is not, to make sure fans won't be thinking the wrong thing. We have made no claims and expect fans to not get caught up with the wave of speculations and rumors in the forums and the web to the point to believe them.

Things the May 1 Announcement are not:
1. It is not an official announcement of Diablo 3

3. It is not a Network merge
Only Blizzard Entertainment may make an official announcement of games, unless we had a leak. However, we have no leaks. We know as much as you do whether or not there will or not be an announcement at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals. We do have our own set of theories such as the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals ending the same day Diablo II was released (June 29 2000) and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction expansion being released (June 29, 2001). We will all have to wait and see what happens.
I have been open commenting there will be new Diablo novels. Richard A. Knaak commented on the video interview other writers might be writing new Diablo novels at some point. However, no new novels could justify a two weeks countdown teaser unless it was something that might be considered as a decent announcement.
As for rumors that this is all about a Network merger, I have to say no. As far as Umaro has told me, each site is independent. For example, this community is mostly Diablo news, content and upcoming interviews. StarcraftTwo will get at some point a face lift with a new layout and CMS to cover only Starcraft news, content and such. Blizzplanet will continue to do what it has always done: all games news, interviews, Blizzard product coverage and promo.
What the flip is the May 1st Announcement then?
Well, the answer will be unleashed that day. Not earlier.
Does Blizzard know?
I would say yes.
Is it about the Diablo II Patch?
Blizzard officially hinted of a Diablo II patch in an interview from China when the Zerg race was unveiled. I have stalked four Blizzard folks, and haven't gotten any updates at this time. I might be given a follow up, hopefully.
Is it about BlizzCast Episode 3
BlizzCast Episode 3 was recorded many days ago. It is probably been edited and distributed to the localization team. For that matter, there can't be an ETA. It will be out when it is ready. Once episode 3 is translated to all the Blizzard supported languages, the web designers will prepare the webpage code for a simultaneous release. I was told the questions I gathered from the diablo3.com community won't show up in Episode 3 and probably nor in episode 4. By the time I had submited these questions there had been months prior to that of hundreds of questions submited by the World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2 communities. It will also depend on whether the Diablo II Team Developers are available at the time a BlizzCast is produced. Sounds like they are busy folks nowadays. Fret not, our questions are on queue. They will get answered on BlizzCast format at some point. The most I can say here is: BlizzCast 3 is coming out soon. And no, the May 1 countdown teaser isn't to announce BlizzCast 3.
Is the Countdown Teaser about an Interview?
A Diablo II Team interview request was answered as follow: "It's is a possibility". I will update you in upcoming months.
How good is the countdown anyways? Why should I bother coming around on May 1?
Would I come up clean and spare you 10 days of agony, if I didn't know there is still some good behind the May 1 announcement? [grins]
There is some merit to the announcement. Sadly it is not what we are all awaiting and craving for years. But it is a step forward in its own rightful positive kind of way to what fans are craving for. Hope this quick FAQ may help some people. I am a fan too, and I really don't want people getting way too excited than they should by following forum rumor mill threads.
Good thing you quoted that and he posted that. Because now I couldn't give two shits about the announcement, I'm sure it's more hoolah like back when the musical composer dude said he just got done composing gothic music for a game he believed was called diablo 3.... or w/e. That was like what 3-4 years ago now?
Or that one blogger Steve **** I don't remember his last name has said for the last 5 years that diablo 3 is in production and here are loosely tied together facts from half drunken blizzard employees at a blizzcon.
Seriously until Blizzard says they're having a party or conference in like I dunno, Prague, I can't even begin to buy into the BS.
