Is there anywhere that's not Smashboards that I can go learn some new techniques? I asked my tourneytard friend and he said that "there aren't many techniques in Brawl" and that Smashboards is the only place to get them.
I'm pretty sure there has to be some kind of Wiki that has info, because I think browsing Smashboards is uncomfortable with this lack of organization and sorting methods.
Edit: and complaints about Brawl. Man, just go back to Melee if you hate Brawl so much and you live a happier life.

Smashboards is the only one I know of right now you might want to try the smash wiki on wikia.
And yeah there aren't many techniques in brawl but there weren't many in melee either until a year after it came out
You know I wonder why Smash doesn't support as many competitive websites as Pokemon. I mean, I'd assume it would have wider appeal, but all it has is Smashboards, where as Pokemon has like Serebii, Smogon, Psypoke, Bulbapedia, and who knows what else.
My friends new-ish Wii (got it last Fall 07), totally stopped playing the disc after a few days. It was working great, then one day it just wouldn't read and never again since. He's sending it in to get repaired.
I have a launch night unit which started the game up fine last night, now I don't want to turn it off in fear that I'll have the same fate as my friend. I've been trying to find out if the issue happens with launch units, or just newer ones, or both. Hard to get a good idea though since the scattered opinions online are all anecdotal. Is this silly? Should I just stop worrying?
I know any response to this will be anecdotal as well but you guys are better than the rest of the internets unwashed masses so that gives it more weight.

Also Rockin I think Smashboards has a wiki.
Each of the three Pokemon sites you listed covers different stuff or covers stuff in different ways. Smogon is pretty much all about competitive battling and movesets, Serebii attempts to be a massive planetoid of information about anything vaguely related to Pokemon, and Bulbapedia is obviously a wiki so you get obscure stuff like how apparently they put stockings and sleeves on Dawn for an educational website because she barely wears a skirt in the games or anime. Smash has far fewer games and related products than Pokemon so there just isn't as much material to make a fansite. Plus you would have to live with the fact that you could not match the awesomeness of the Dojo. Sakurai voiced DeDeDe, what can any fansite writer do in comparison?
The forums on each may overlap a lot, but that's after the people posting there got drawn in by whatever the more static content was.

The official explanation is that it has to do with really dirty environments for the Wii. The ones that got hit by the error on the forums were a mix with no real common thread.

That actually makes a lot of sense. He's got a cat and a fair share of smoking occurs in the room the Wii is in. Mine has been in a mostly pet free environment with no smoking. Guess I can rest easy.

For one, because pokemon is a strategy game with a ridiculous amount of customization, resulting in an untold amount of strategies based on what pokes you use, how you train them, etc. etc.
Plus, it's been online longer, with netbattles and shit.
Smash competitively was played in person almost universally, and it's quick reaction game. You can theorycraft all day about why DK can beat MK, but unless you have the talent and skills to execute your plans, it's all for naught.

My friend claims that Melee has an infinite amount of strategy compared to Pokémon, haha.
Changing the topic, has anyone ever had a 100% lag-free match? I think I've had 99% lag-free matches.
I shall put forth that such an online match is physically impossible.
It happened to me once. I was playing against my friend who was in the same room on a different TV.
...on the same internet connection
I think that explanation just gave me Addison's Disease.
That's it, now I definitely know I've been watching too much House.
Speaking of theoryfighter, how's that going over at Smashboards? I'd check in personally, but every time I do six or seven warning windows come up saying the website's trying to spyware me.
By the way, Snake can beat anybody handily except for runaway Zelda. (I'm looking at you Aeon, you teleporting, fire-sniping, toe-kicking bastard!)
Is there any strategy for adding stickers to SSE? I'm only like four hours in, but since I can't tell what characters I'll be playing I haven't been bothering with stickers.
I don't mean getting them so much as choosing when to "stick" them. Though I suppose if they are effectively infinite I can just put the best and most relevant ones on every character and be done with it.
Since what characters you use are decided by the game, I wouldn't suggest using stickers. But after you beat it and want to do levels on hard, put stickers on your 4 favorite characters since the effects are distributed amongst the characters you use.
Yeah, I'm at the end now and can pick whatever characters finally.
Now my problem is how the hell do I know which attributes will affect what. e.g. what is the difference between "weapon" and "slashing" for a character that wields a sword? What kind of attacks do snake's explosives or link's boomarang count as? The manual is worthless.

Explosive and Specials: Indirect respectively work.
I had no idea that the benefit from stickers was distributed among all your party members.
Do those stack? I know two stickers on the same guy won't but if I had like ike metaknight marth and toon link could I have a swordstravaganza?
By the way Munkus, you still around? Because you weren't able to defend your title and kick everyone's faces in, I ending up winning that tournament thing and I'm pretty sure you owe me something or other.

They don't get shared amoung party members. My Meta Knight had some sort of super no-flinching sticker on that made him an unmovable tank and it was a very obvious effect. It was not shared with his party members. If you want a swordstravaganza, you'd have to put stickers on everyone individually.
As for when you use stickers, I'd recommend doing it on your second Intese playthrough that everyone should do. (it gives you a special message even!) That way you get to play along with the plot but you'll know what characters to expect and which ones you'll use. And of course stickers are so common you can just stick your less valuable ones on everybody and have a good time even if you'll barely use them, because its fun to power up your party.
(Hint: Super no flinching monster is great. Make sure you give your favorite guy a huge no-flinch sticker.)
Speaking of stickers, is it just me, or is getting the last hundred a real pain in the ass?
I'm a trophy whore y'see, and it seems like grinding for stickers in the CD factory has gone from netting me 20+ in new ones in 20 minutes to MAYBE five.
I'm starting to think for the last 50 it may be more efficient to just do it in the coin launcher.

With fourteen stickers left, I get one sticker an hour if I'm lucky (as I've mentioned before). The coin launcher, in that same amount of time or more, rarely gives me any new stickers. It's not exact science so take it with a grain of salt, but it seems that the factory is still faster (just slightly less fun).
Do you lose stickers when your character dies or any other way? Should I save my rarer stickers for specific areas. I'm thinking more about getting the boss trophies here, and am worried about the trophy stand stickers running out before I get everything. I'm not really sure how many I have at the moment, so maybe they are so plentiful that it doesn't even matter. Anyone?

You don't lose stickers you've placed on your stand, unless you manually remove them. Ever. Or stickers in your permanent collection.
However, you WILL lose stickers you've collected in a SSE stage if you die before completing it. About half your stickers and trophies I believe.
On the plus side, if you get a rare trophy, you can quit mid-stage and keep it (and any stickers you've collected).
So yeah, slap stickers on your characters with abandon. Be sure to use stickers that increase trophy stand drops; they'll help with your sanity.
ElKaboom: thanks. Even though that's not what I wanted to hear.

My guess is that slashing applies to character-based sword attacks, and weapon applies to weapons that are item pickups (e.g., Home Run Bat, Beam Sword, Fan, etc.). Still, there's a lot of guesswork and it would have been nice to see a nice, complete, correct guide somewhere.
