So... would we be allowed to trade stuff with other members of the group?
I'm tempted to reinstall for this shizz.
yea. Whatever the group gets people can use.
For example if you're playing a Barbarian and somone else is playing a sorceress and an Orb drops you should pick it up for the sorceress.
The best way to do items for one of these is to just drop everything of use in town when we go back and have people take what they need. And since there's no trading outside the group it makes no sense to hoard.
Lame tangent, but what's a fun character to take a tour through Diablo2/LOD single player these days? I never played the game and it is in my backlog. Looking for something simple and straightforward rather than tricky or difficult to play.
Hey did Blizz put in a no-cd patch for diablo ii like they did for warcraftiii and sc?
They did that?! Does it work on Macs?
Notice the questionmark at the end?
I actually have no idea. :P My laptop screen is wonky and my LoD cd is missing, so it may be a while till I can actually get in on this action. Point being that even though I'm on a mac RIGHT NOW, I have no answer to your question.
The sad truth: I accidentally memorized my CD key... And because of this awful fact I have been allowed to reinstall for the god-knows-how-manyth time... I suppose if I played with you guys then I might not spend every waking hour playing it... Ya' never know.
Damnit... Why couldn't they have made it a 50 digit code or something?

Could someone suggest a good PvE build for a Druid that is viable in both solo and multiplay?
Standard Furry Werewolf builds work pretty good. Just Upgrade a Ribcracker, drop a Shael rune in it. Get some Leech and just start Furry-ing.
If you're looking for something a bit funner I've found that using a Bow, with lots of points in the summons and some elemental works good as well.
But in all honesty Druid's are a hard class to play solo. Elemental is weak compared to Sorc, Summons are weak compared to Necro, and Melee solo in Hell is nearly suicide without the best gear.

I'm loving my untwinked Meteorb Sorc in solo (though online ladder) play. There's a lot of variety as you move up the levels (Firebolt->Frost Nova Melee -> Teleport&Merc -> TeleMercFireWall -> MercMeteor -> Frozen Orb; eventually, I anticipate a return to Meteor and a lot more use of Fireball), and by the time you're in Act 4 or 5 you've got power, utility, and range. It's not, from what I've read, the best character by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a lot of fun and, unlike some other Sorc builds, it doesn't call for very intense gear.
It's also pretty straightforward, just not as tedious as a Fury-esque melee (in fact, less tedious and more easy). You want difficult, play a Kicksin. I couldn't. x.x
With decent gear, Kicksins are downright brutal...up until Hell. A charged up Dragon Tail will absolutely MURDER everything in Normal and Nightmare, but will barely scratch a skeleton in Hell.
I'm thinking about going with a Frozen Orb/Thunderstorm Sorc build. Orb only has Ice Bolt for a synergy, and Cold Mastery's usefulness maxes out around 8 points. Thunderstorm has no synergies, only prereqs. That means that 20 Frozen Orb/20 Ice Bolt/8 Cold Mastery/20 Thunderstorm/20 Lightning Mastery is perfectly doable, with all the rest going into prereqs and Warmth. No idea on the effectiveness, although the idea of being able to just spam Frozen Orb with left click and Teleport on right click with Thunderstorm going auto sounds REALLY nice.
Are any kind of melee character really viable in Hell difficulty or should I just focus on a caster class instead?
Melee is totally viable in hell. I just wouldn't recomend soloing hell with a pure melee character. In fact there are very few classes that I would recomend soloing Hell. After the 1.10/1.11 patch Hell became basically very difficult.

Remember when you could just make a whirlwind barbarian with a lance and kill absolutely anything you wanted?
...Good ol' prepatch days...
Oh yeah, and remember when you could use bone wall to farm items? Good ol' bug exploiting days...

Vividly.
Well, found one set of my CD keys and hopped on BNet. I...just need to figure out what class I'll have a fun and easy time with. I'd like to be a lazy summoner or something, but it looks like they eat ass in hell without skill charms and/or aura runewords(of which I definitely won't have any time soon, if ever).
We should either do an Eastern Sun playgroup or a completely untwinked softcore regular group. Either one would allow us to play without the constant urge to swap items between accounts.
I'm on USEast on bnet with my untwinked sorc...I think she's just Orb right now, but she's on nightmare atm, around lvl 34. only played her for a day or two. Or are you guys thinking of going from lvl 1?
I have been thinking of rolling a poison creeper druid if so.

So I take it that I should max Lycanthropy, Werewolf, Rabies and Fury if I'm looking for a melee Druid? MAn, now I remember why games like Diablo gives me such a hard time, my altitis always flares up at times like these. I'm already working on a Summoner Necro and I'm looking at the possibilty of creating a Druid and an Assassin as well :P
As a necro i was either a zoo keeper (amp damage and all the minions I can muster) or I would do all the bone spells (this build sucks mighty ass until level 16).
edit: i am also on the PA vent server
edit2: i think my guy is ladder, but i cant remember.

They're still pretty good. 6 of them let you reroll a Rare. Get a Rare Diadem and continually reroll it until you get somthing that you want.
Meh, who knows.
I'll Play a Summoner Druid or Necro.

Me too.
I'll play a Holy Bolt healy Paladin unless someone else plays a summoner-Necro.
They did?
Yes. But no, not for D2. And it is odd.
