How do you play as a Bone Necro? Do you back your bone spells with summons or curses?

Clay Golems, Revives, and Curses, all of which can be used with only one point in the skill and a few +skill items. Bone spells require a ton of synergies and you won't have the points left over for anything else.

Except at higher levels, it is a swaaaarm.

I found the skeleswarm type necromancer to be very very effective with an Auradin in the party.

Ive beaten hell by just trading, no twinking, with a skellymancer. Max skellies and masteries, make good use of your curses and corpse explosion everywhere. It works alot better solo though.

I would be down for some SC non-twink action, farthest I've ever gotten in this game was beating it in normal, once, so I'm not really comfortable trying to compete in HC or a really twinked environment.

    God damnit West.

    US West.

Well, say we run HC on West and non-HC on East.

To keep this from getting out of hand -- since I don't know how quickly we can get the OP updated -- I'm going to take a stab at organization here. I figure what we need is a distinction between the list of PA people who are generally playing Diablo II and the list of PA people who are setting aside a new character to play in a scheduled group. That way, we can hook up to play whenever without compromising the more interesting setting of the structured group, which will naturally meet too infrequently to satisfy everyone's desire to play D2. So here is my attempt at making the latter.

    Scheduled Group: Non-HC Ladder, Un-twinked
    Server: US West
    Game: gPA Password: wang
    Ventrilo: ???
    Time: Yet to be Determined

    Participants: Projected Character, Preferred Time:
Arikado - Amazon or Assassin - 7-10PM PST (10PM-1AM EST)
DharmaBum - Summoner Druid or Necro - a night in the early evening, like 8-9ish EST.
Mahnmut - Cleric Paladin - evening, 8-9ish EST, maybe not a school night
Narcis Prince - Amazon or Sorc - Evening after 5 CST (6 EST)

    -

So if everyone interested in this particular structure could please speak up once more, I'll update this list; we can compromise on a first meeting; eventually, I'll add in character names. I hope this works. :|

Zen, if you want to set up a similar list for the HC group, please add me; I plan to play a Bowazon, and my time preference is the same.

Count me in. I'll be playing either Summoner Druid or Necro.

I'd like to pick a night in the early evening. Like 8-9ish.

I never got a chance to play through as an Amazon or Assassin. I was always Necro or Sorc. If you guys pick a decent time frame, I'll be down to play either mode. I am super rusty though.

Zen: That does make perfect sense. The next time I make a character it'll be on WEST. I'll also write the non-HC scheduled group back to West unless there are objections; that way we can use those characters after we're done with 'em.

Until I can get a copy of LoD via Goozex or Half-Price Books, I'm not gonna be able to join you all. I'd totally be interested in playing though, and most nights are fine, since the semester is almost over.

I was also thinking about having two subgroups: One is a scheduled group, the other is a join-as-you-please untwinked non-HC ladder group. A lot of people just like playing D2 (hell, I know I did), and one night a week just isn't gonna cut it, heh.

I'd totally be up for that as well, or for twinking-indeterminate join-as-you-please play. I'm sure I'll be playing more than once a week. The main thing is that the scheduled group has to have separate characters set aside specifically for scheduled play.

I did act 2 and ended up at l21. Also, with 5 skeletons, 2 mages a golem and a mercenary, everything except duriel was extremely easy (Duriel ate skeletons like no tommorow though, and nothing near to res made it quite hard)

Hmm...I have no will and made a necro summoner. I'm about at the exact same spot as you(level, skellies, and location), but I have no mages. I guess they only annoy me because of the ice ones destroying my beautiful corpses.

Basically I'm chiming in to demand any sweet +raise, +mastery, or +summoning wands/heads that you find.

Neat -- and to confirm, by "this" you mean the scheduled group, not just DII in general? I'll add you to the list.

The forums at diabloii.net are pretty good repositories of build guides. You could look around there -- but I doubt you can go wrong with a Meteorb Sorc. :)

For my own part, I've just started moving over to West; I just tried a Skeletons+Corpse Explosion Necromancer, but I think what I want to focus on is an Amazon using Lightning Fury, Charged Strike, and Freezing Arrow backup.

Those guides are pretty awesome (if only because I'm mentioned as a contributer in Ash_Housewares' Frenzy guide). If Ladder resets on June 25, that might actually make it a bit easier for all of us to have a fresh start on non-HC.

Minor problem. I had to get an iso so that I could use my legal key since I can't find my CD anywhere, but have the case. My problem is that D2 assumes that the lod cd should be in my E drive (normal cd) rather than any of my other virtual drives. Is there a way that I can fix this or no?
