Summoning necros don't have much trouble with bone fetishes, due to the minions acting as a huge melee buffer, but for everyone else, yeah fuck those little bastards.

You really should buy the expansion anyways, considering how much it improves the original game.

It just adds new classes right? I'm not really interested in playing assassin or druid so I'd be cool with the vanilla as long as I could play with LoD people.

It also adds a doubled stash size, charms, runes, runewords, massive numbers of uniques, new item modifiers, and elite-level equipment. It's definitely worth it, and it's only $20 to boot.

sounds like I'll get it then

You also get a fifth act as well, so you do indeed need to get the expansion in order to follow the PA crowd there.

I am down for 9pm EST tonight.

I only ever made solo Zealots, and not very good ones at that. Don't know any builds, really.

Would some kind of group-helping aura-oriented paladin actually be helpful to people?

Vengeance/Fist (has Conviction and Resist auras), Hammerdin (has Concentrate), and Freeze Zealots (Holy Freeze and Shock) are all valid builds whose main auras can benefit other characters.

9PM eh? Hmmm... So that'd be 1AM GMT, huh?

This concept of timezones confuses and infuriates me!

To me, it's 9:30PM right now... Curse you orbitary path of the Earth! Curse you! ...Or rather, the rotation... Either way it's damn inconvenient.

Hammerdin. A barenaked Hammerdin stands a better than even chance of soloing everyone but the bosses, and that's only because they'd run out of mana.

Hey guys, mind if I join up?

    I'm looking at either:

Necromancer (probably summoner? Not too familiar with other necro builds)
Paladin (zeal/holy freeze is my favourite)
Barbarian (...? I haven't played them since like 1.09, or whenever it was when whirlbarb was basically the only build)

I could also go druid if there are a bunch of people already playing the aforementioned classes.

It may tell you your cd key in the registry... That'll work, if you meant what I think you meant. But then... You'd need some other way of installing without the disks if you've lost them.

Edit: Okay, well, I searched my registry and came up with no cdkey... I know that there are tools to find out things like this, but I'm not assured of the legality of such things. Not to mention that they are usually damn dodgey.

Well, i did some research and found out that CD key information is kept in the Storm.dll but it heavily encrypted and almost impossible to find the CD key without using a program that pulls it up when it is un-encrypted as it is submitted to the Bnet servers.

So, theoretically, if i replace the STORM.dll that gets installed if I install using a friends CDkey/CD with mine, I wonder if I'll be able to use my original Cdkey instead of his.

    Hahahaha...
I was running hell Baal, but my revived ran out of time too soon so I decided to portal out and see if I could grab some urdar or something from an earlier act. I eventually found some of the type of monster I wanted, got back to Harrogath, and went back through my portal...

Baal got his tentacle rape on while I was out, I guess. I died instantly.

Hmmm I was playing around on my summoner necro, he rocks fairly hard, but vs diablo he's toast. I tried for a while with Iron Maiden / Clay Golem recasting in having him knock his own health off, but it was too little, took forever to get him to the l in his name, then I died, ran completely out of corpses.. figured it was to much hassle.

9 EST is 1.5 hours from now right? A little late for me :(

Normal Diablo is a bitch for summoners, since you might not have revived yet, and your minions are not strong enough to tank him yet. And Diablo loves his high damage massive AoE attacks. Don't use iron maiden, use decrepify to slow him down, try to have revived, pray he doesn't wipe out your skeletons before they can reach him. I generally have to portal out several (like, 5-10) times to rez my hireling and recreate my skeletons and revived. Since he either doesn't regenerate or regenerates really slowly in normal you can whittle him down that way.

In Nightmare and Hell (after maxing out skeletons and skele mastery), Diablo is much easier for my summoners. When I teleport 20+ skeletons and revived on top of him and keep him decrepified, he uses far fewer special attacks for some reason, and the minions can pretty much endure his DPS indefinitely unless you get unlucky. That works with the other act bosses too.
