The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I went into setup the other day by pressing F12, etc., to switch the hard drive to "performance". Well, that may have improved performance a little, but now the thing sounds like a jet engine. It's a lot hotter. I switched it back to "bypass", the setting for older systems, the one it's previously on, but it's still not back to the way it was.
Task manager says usage is low. Is it a monitor / video card setting? What can I do? The comp is in the living room and so it's getting to be a pain in the ass.
Is it the fans that are louder? They might have sped up in reaction to the higher temperature. You should have an option somewhere to turn that off or set it lower.
Check all fans and heatsinks to make sure that they're not inundated with dust/debris. Usually if it's trying that hard to cool, it's because its airflow is impeded.
