Technically two, but fair enough. What I was getting at was that your "flat out false"hoods were merely disagreements over subjective views (pun intended).
and this was in regards to characters being too small. Well actually, I don't consider it subjective, it's fact.
Oh, that's cool? Can I also consider it to not be subjective, and say that the camera does get zoomed out too far? For the record, I've played Melee on a wide range of displays and while I require corrective lenses I was using them at the time.
What you must realise is that this is similar to a religion debate. Christians will claim fact God exists, Atheists will claim fact he doesn't. Given neither can actually be proved, there is no fact. This is similar, there really isn't a valid method to determine whether the camera zooms out too much to see or not. But I've looked at all the evidence and it's far too heavily swayed to 'not' that I would consider the matter settled and anybody who can seriously believe otherwise is some kind of crazy (coincidentally this is also my opinion of people who believe in God).
I would like to add, I am not in anyway angry here at all.

He has some legitimate complaints(multiplayer unlockables, repetitive SSE) but for the most part he really just didn't know at all what he was talking about. This is why Yahtzee shouldn't review games he doesn't care about just for the hype.
I love the shitstorm that inevitably occurs with a new ZP.
I loved it. It was very funny. I think it's fairly accurate if you've never played a Smash Bros. game and aren't big into fighting games, but picked it up on the hype. I agree with him on SSE, being "that guy", and the unlockables. Fuck unlockables for multiplayer game modes.
I picked up Brawl a day after it released, played a lot for a week and haven't touched it since.
Rami: there is no "proof" or "evidence." It's an opinion. It's more like debating about whether carrot cake is tasty than debating about whether God exists.

I really liked today's review. Unlockable characters pretty much expelled all the patience I had for Super Smash Brothers, mostly because unlocking them in SSE was totally lame. ROB being punched by Cpt. Falcon may be a real selling point for some people, but for me it isn't. And I know you could unlock them by playing the multiplayer, but...Shouldn't I decide what characters I want to play with?
A little code to unlock everything would have been extremely appreciated.
I agree, unlocking characters is terribly boring, especially because SSE was... terrible.
Boring, repetitive, shit, glued togther by questionable video clips.

We could to academic research on the subject. Grab some prerecored smash games, tell subjects to watch characters, press a button when they have lost track of where they are on the screen and then graph that data against camera zoom levels. See if there is a strong threshold where that happens most often. I'd by lying if I said I've never lost track of where I was while playing the game, and I usually play on a giant projector. (Though the biggest factors seem to be if I'm on a level with a dark background and someone is playing as Gannondorf. Fucking purple shit.)
I love the shitstorm that inevitably occurs with a new ZP.
You know what I love, the fact that every single page people go "hurf durf everytime there's a new ZP people will have opinions, hurf durf I'm so much better then them forums are for something something hurf durf". It's not more irritating then people having dumb opinions in the slightest.
For the record, I really didn't find this one in the least funny, and I'm really not a fan of the series or nintendo in general. If you're trying to be better then thou it makes you merely look like an areshole if it's not actually funny. Yeah he was right on one or two of the points, but that was it, and if I wanted a dry review I'd go to a real reviewer, am I right guys?

Well, I will say that I have had quite the few moments where I have actually lost sight or focus of my character in a hectic 4-way fight. Even on real simple maps like Final Destination. The action is getting so fast, that I blink and the next thing I know I'm on the opposite side of the screen, or spiked down with such velocity that I don't know what hit me. It's not a complaint or anything, but it has happened more times than I'd care to admit.

Although, admitting to not liking/getting bored of SSBB in any fashion is pretty indicative of someone WHO HAS NO FRIENDS.
I got a little bored with SSBM. Throughout college, my roommate and I played it a ton. He is generally better at fighting games than I am; I am a "specialist" type who likes to pick one character to master. When we first started playing, in Freshman year, he destroyed me. By Junior year, I had specialized in Marth to the point that he and other friends considered it "cheating" when I picked him.
This review didn't make me mad, and I freaking LOVE Smash Brothers. It just wasn't as funny as most of his other reviews, probably because he didn't want to do it in the first place. I did laugh once or twice, but that was about it.
I don't know what he's talking about concerning effects clouding up the screen, and the fact that he and 3 of his friends who had never played the game button mashed all night doesn't mean that it's just a button mashing game.
Although, admitting to not liking/getting bored of SSBB in any fashion is pretty indicative of someone who has friends who don't like playing Smash Bros.
FTFM. Melee was delightful when I as at college and lived with/near friends who enjoyed playing the game. Out here? Not so much. So Brawl actually doesn't get much play time at all.
We could do that test, but unless everyone gave identical results it still wouldn't 100% concrete fact. Though certainly it could give results good enough to be considered one. You're going to need a huge sample size.
Also, Wolfman, would you consider the few moments you have lost total clarity of vision to give the game a poor visibility over all? I'm sure I could find a few moments in most games where vision is unintentionally obscured to the point of detriment to the player.

Oh, and put me in with the "bored of it" crowd as well. Which actually depresses me. I was going bucknut for the game near the end. Diligently reading each dojo update. Slowly waiting down the clock on launch day like a child on Christmas. Nearly freaking out when the DRE error reports came in, and hoping to hell it wouldn't happen to me when I put the game in the Wii. And then played the hell out of it, and loved every minute of it.
I haven't touched the game in over 2 weeks, and I have no real desire to play it.
I still love the game and wouldn't trade it for the world. But I'm just bored with it now. And I really wish I knew why.

What the hell are you arguing about? It's like you were in a tragic accident and now your brain is stuck on argue. You made your point, some people agreed, others disagreed. We all think that it's subjective, though without research, which no one will do, we can't identify if there is an optimal zoom level for most people or whether smash meets it.
I mean it's so fucking obvious; I guess because he has his own little video review shitfest people take him seriously.
Yeah, it's pretty impossible for anyone to not care about SSSB and even go as far as to not like it.
Your sarcasm is shit.
I'm drawing this conclusion not from this single game "review," but from the many he has done.
Nearly each one causes a bitchfest on the internet, especially with AAA titles involved.

Yup, even going as far as to getting all the character trophies (you know, beating all 3 modes with every single character) and also reading each description.
Here though, I just can't find the motivation to do the same thing.

He really liked The Orange Box. His No More Heroes review was pretty positive. He seemed to like Zack and Wiki. Generally, he focuses on negative criticism because that's what's most funny. He's not a troll, he's a humorous game reviewer with a unique style. He has known biases that he lays right out on the table, he speaks his mind and it's usually funny and true whether you agree or not. In this case, a lot of people disagree (normal, see thread title). If you think that all he's doing is trolling, that's your problem.

Bingo, bold'd for truth. He's not an objective, high-minded game journalist. He's a guy who does a great job at being funny, and often times he throws in some brutal honesty which I find refreshing and hilarious.

My only experience of playing Brawl was with Lightreaper and a bunch of guys off his course, and it was on an old portable TV that showed it in pretty bad quality Black and White. I had no problems seeing what was going on to be honest. I guess I have played a lot of melee though.
He said a bunch or negative things about a game I am really looking forwards to, although a lot of them aren't really relevant to me.
One of the things I loved about melee was that I was constantly unlocking cool new stuff. I played it none stop for about a month after it came out, and was still unlocking cool stuff. There is a difference of opinion about unlockable content. One side say "I paid for it, don't restrict me from accessing it" and the other side say "I love the challenge of unlocking stuff".
I tend towards the latter side of the argument, but there are a whole bunch of examples of unlockable content being implemented badly. It's just a matter of individual preference and what is suitable for the type of game.
I did laugh quite a lot at this review, but it hasn't made me anticipate Brawl any less, or changed my view of Yahtzee or ZP.
Yahtzee isn't a real reviewer, though. At the very least, ZP isn't a real sample of game reviewing and if it is, it's done poorly from a serious perspective. He strives to be funny, and by god that's what he is. But if you sit down and examine really any of his videos you'll find very few actual "review" going on and a lot of "gay joke/complaining about nothing in particular"
Everything he said about Smash Brothers was absolutely inarguably true, though he only really said two things about it: "Unlocking is stupid" and "It has some stupid characters no one cares about"
