Who do I see for sciatica/sacroiliac pain?

The title says it all really, but I'll explain in case it matters. I've had Crohns Disease for 15 years, so I know tons about intestinal/bowel health and function. But for the last year or so, I've had intermittent pain in my right buttock D::winky:, which I assumed was intestinal. My crohns specialist did a colonoscopy, which showed nothing except Crohns, and gave me some painkillers and kind of gave up after that. He's a bit of a dick to talk to (super-passive, extremely geeky and sciencey, no communication skills at all), but he's about the only UC/Crohns specialist around here, so I can't do much about that yet.

For various reasons, I started to think that my pain might not be intestinal at all (though sometimes Crohns can have other effects) and might be sciatica or something sacral.

In Japan, where I live, people usually go straight to a particular specialist - if you have a sore throat you go to the ENT doc, if you have eczema you find a dermatologist.

I'm pretty healthy apart from Crohns, so I don't know much about other medical specialisations. Who should I go to for sciatica or similar?

Thanks

I figure I could take a bear.

My mom saw a chiropractor for her sciatica.

Neurologists deal with nerve things and orthopedic surgeons deal with bone things. Since sciatica is often both, I guess either of those could work. Either one would possibly (probably?) send you to a radiologist for imaging.

I'm sorry to hear about your Crohn's. My mother has the disease and has had several surgeries and I, myself, am showing early stages of the process.

Anyway, for pain that specialized (such as myalgia) I'd really reccomend finding a pain specialist or a pain clinic in the area.

Thanks all - btw MegaMan if you want to pm me I've been doing pretty well until now, so I might have some good answers for your questions, even though you are a nurse.
