hay all,
im doing computer gaming development and design and i will be buying a wacom tablet very soon if not tomorrow to assist me in acomplishing more work and well.... fun hahaha + i allways wanted to participate in some of the cool artist drawing threads you guys have going.
the programs i will be using are
Adobe
Premier Pro / photoshop / audition / dreamweaver all cs3
autodesk
3dsmax 08
and the usual microsoft office stuff.
thing is im a student and finding times a little tight right now. ideally i would KILL to have a big cintiq so i could just sketch on the bus without needing a computer nearby but its way out of my budget.
now thats basicly the main thing i want but apart from that im happy with anything else so i have decided on the cheapest tablet of the range the Bamboo.
what i need to know from you guys is should i pay double the amount for the medium sized bamboo fun or will the bamboo be sufficient enough??
i could not see any difference in the bamboo fun from the bamboo with the exception of a eraser on back of pen and larger screen.
will the standard bamboo work well in mainly photoshop and 3dsmax?
my budget peeks at 400 australian dollers but i would rather the cheapest option. (bamboo $129) (bamboo fun $250)
cheers for any help and i look forward to showing you all what goes on in my head

so do you know if its just as supported as the better tablets in 3dsmax or photo shop?
can i buy a pen that has like 10 buttons that i could make into hotkeys etc?
jesus im makeing the big decision in a few hours guess ill just ask the STAFF what they think 999999$ they never heard of 3dsmax
Other than the Cintiq being a monitor that needs to be pugged in to a computer I have to say that there are cheaper alternatives to achieving this goal. A sketchbook for one. I mention this because knowing how to use a tablet stems from knowing how to use a pencil. Having a tablet, or an expensive one for that matter, won't make you a better designer... or a more efficient one.
I'd buy the one that is withing your price range and one that has a size that you're comfortable with.
The bamboo is not a bad tablet, the absence of an eraser can easily be overcomed by keyboard shortcuts that swap betwee tools. I never actually use the hotkeys on my tablet, I always use the keyboard shortcuts with my free hand while I draw with the other.
The Bamboo fun has more keys and an eraser, other than that it's essentially the same as the bamboo.
The Intuous has twice as many pressure levels as the models I mentioned before. It is the high-end tablet, which comes with a high-end price tag.
Get the one you can afford.
well i got my bamboo here with me now still boxed..... i saw another brand with like a HUGE service area 1024 points sensitivity and was only 20$ more expensive...... it was just way to good to be true so im now trying to find it on the internet ... and cant seem to find it
i went with bamboo mainly cause i was worried the other one just wouldn't work with 3dsmax etc
cheers for ya help magic toaster? whoever posted just before this one appreciate it
