Because P3 turned out to be such a huge success in Japan, the devs did an expansion to celebrate this fact. So yes, festival.

    Um.

Have to head to work, but... P3F doesn't see any of my P3 saves. Is there a trick to importing them from P3?

Figured it out: You start a new game and it asks you. Woo.

160 hour import Gooo~. Now I just have to decide if I want to skip work to play or not. For one, gainful employment means new games. For two, I won't need a new game for a few months.

My copy shipped today! (Just like Blackjack said it would.) I can't wait to jump back in to P3. Has anyone confirmed yet whether or not we can take on the extra boss our first time through FES if we're importing P3 saves?

Can you get tired in The Answer? I think it said something about looking at party members' conditions, but I have no idea what you'd do to get it better, so is it safe to assume they don't get tired in this part of the game or what?

By the way, there is an English "max s.link in one playthrough" guide for Persona 3: FES now...in the FES version's section of GameFAQs. It includes the new s.link and accomodates for all changes, including not using donations to raise Academics (because it forwards time in FES).

Ow. You're kidding. Wasn't the drain on your cash reserves punishing enough?

Random very spoiler-lite The Answer observation:
Metis wears a mask. All the enemies have a mask motif. Meaningful, or just incidental to her butterfly stylings? Will be fun to find out.

So...I thought you needed to start a new game or new game + to enjoy FES, but now I read I can just move my 20h save over? Is that true? (Is that smart?)

Can somebody give me a relatively spoiler free version of what "The Answer" is?

An extra dungeon? A side quest? An extra chapter not really tied into the game?

Fuck, I'm getting back on the phone to EB.

You can move any save over, whether you finished or not, and it carries some things over.

So move any save you have on over, it'll bring over compendium (personas have base stats/skills) and your courage/intelligence/popularity stats over as well for example.

EDIT: An_Alt: "The Answer" is a continuing storyline that is what happens directly after P3 ends. They boast 20-40 hours gameplay. Think of it as another dungeon and storyline to go through.

Haha oh man. The first Elizabeth date is hilarious. I'm so looking forward to more of these.

That floor 14 boss took me a handful of tries before I could take him down. Man he hit hard. Cadenza's evasion boost saves the day.

Holy cow. I only got to play the tiniest bit but even floor 1 of the dungeon in The Answer was more difficult than anything P3 on normal threw at me. It's like I'm playing a real SMT game.
Also the shadows are on crack now or something because good god they move fast. Staircase sniping looks to be my friend.

Also, changing BGM for the dungeon is soooooooo nice that it deserves a bunch of extra o's in "so". Too bad the dungeon music in The Answer doesn't suck like Tartarus did so I don't really want to change the music. Curse you Atlus!

That's how I feel. The original BGM is the best, but the others are good too.

I'm up to the second block(I think).
They're not playing around with the boss checkpoints. You get a shortcut back to the start after it dies.

Also seeking confirmation on whether or not the uber boss is available in FES' first run, and not an NG+.
You can date her, then turn around and fight her to the death!

What difficulty are you playing on? I just got to him on hard and if he chooses to assult dive my main there's a pretty big chance I'm fucked, even with Cadenza?

Also, hard mode is really fucking hard. Especially bosses, since they can typically one-shot you (or just hit you twice in a row). Although the fact that I've been stingy and havn't bought any new equipment probably isn't helping either.

Not taking along Yukari is suicide.

And so far, I don't see why the Velvet Room even has a point in The Answer.

It's less wasteful to just gain Persona from the cards, max them out, and discard them when the new shuffles come along. Why would I give them up for fusion when I can't resummon them?

Also, no Social Link XP Gains towards fusion = D:

That answers that -- no Persona resummon in the Velvet Room. Jesus.

How well can you fuse in Answer? I heard only a max of 3 cards at a time, which locks out quite a few endgame personae.

So how difficult is Answer? Can you set it to Hard? I have dreams of replaying Question (NG+) on Hard then switching over to Answer on Hard and going Gbbaggahbah~ after a few hours of getting my ass kicked.

Haven't really seen much to confirm this, but supposedly Answer is just as difficult as a Hard run of P3 standard.

It seems mostly the same to me, except for the (painful) limitation of not having the Compendium, and the monsters hit harder/have higher evade.

So far, I'd say the Answer's difficulty is basically comparable to Monad's.
Except the monsters aren't using Hama/Death skills... yet.

A gamefaqs thread says yes. I guess I'll find out in a 100 hours.

Yeah I'm playing on hard. Even with Cadenza, there's a good chance you'll still get destroyed. I just used Cadenza, switched to my Pixie next turn then just started pelting the bastard with some of those med level magic gems I got from Elizabeth. I managed to dodge 2 Assault Dives on the main and Junpei dodged one on his own. Junpei even landed a critical at a good time. Had to revive Yukari once because of 2x Mazio.

Hard mode is pretty tough when you can't exploit any weaknesses. The damage I'm taking is pretty huge when I get hit. I haven't bought any equip yet either but these Rash Guards and Hi tech Sandals/Rubber Soles are working alright for now.

If the uber-boss is available on a first run with transferred data, you can bet I'll be tackling it again.
But not without Orpheus Kai, fuck that noise. I'm not spending another 10 hours fusing demons for one phase.

Joule if you're going to attempt that boss, try to save up a bunch of cards. I was kicking myself for not having more to increase my endurance. If you can get it up to 89, you can just equip apocalypse or something for the rest.

So, to tear us away from the Persona 3 stuff, for approximately the ten seconds it takes for you to read this post, these scans of Kuma linked earlier, and I now bring you his Persona name and likely source.

His Persona is Kintokidouji, which is likely based on Kintarou.

No, it's just that in my area I didn't see P3 for rental during its release. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough though.

I've gotten the hang of The Answer now, pretty much.

    Up to the third section.

I might be going back to The Journey sooner or later(maybe to alternate between the two), what with Answer's recent story developments.

Kind of minor, since it was hinted at in some of the FES webisodes:
Visiting the past? I think I better brush up on the main game before getting too deep into that.

I can't comment on The Journey's hard mode yet, but The Answer is giving me a pretty nice challenge. It helps that party AI has improved a lot; they will actually try to knock down as many enemies as possible and go for the all out attack instead of just spamming spells on the same damn guy.
Metis needs to stop casting Marin Karin during boss fights though, why the fuck they give AI controlled party members status spells is beyond me.
