half the time for me it just says "this video is not available" in firefox, and i have to click the thing and go onto the actual youtube page to even view it.
That happens when the youtube user has disabled video embedding. The forum still embeds it, but the youtube player itself won't allow it.
I'm just curious but is there an actual limit to the number of youtube links that can be placed in a thread/page before some issues arise. I doubt you guys would appreciate a live test, so instead I am asking out of curiosities sake.

Well D&D had an 80's music thread that had sweet music videos in virtually every post, and it worked just fine.

Not for me it didn't. I'm not sure what the threshold is, but a page full of youtubes tends to muck up my browsers. (both IE and Firefox)

Maybe your computer was just trying to protect you because it knew you couldn't handle all the awesome at once.

Yes, that must be it.
Or at least it tells us perhaps any issues caused by an overabundance of embedding would far sooner be client related rather than mucking up the server.
That's helpful enough, right?

If anyone is still interested, I've created a Greasemonkey script that adds a link next to the title of each embedded video to open it in a new window/popup.
If you focus this new window and move your mouse over the thread and use your scroll wheel, you can continue to read the thread while the video plays.
[strike]Issues: The popup window covers a part of the thread (I have an idea on doing something about this - shrinking the width of the thread?) which makes it a little hard to read certain parts.[/strike] Added in v1.1
Install and click on the "POPEX" next to the title of an embedded video.
So I have an issue now, all of the inline videos aren't showing up. Theres an outline of where the video would be, it has a symbol in the top left corner. Square, circle, triangle, each a different color.
Anyway, I didn't mind that at first but now when I go to other sites their embedded videos aren't showing up either.
There's something I should download or update to fix this?

I'm not having that problem, so it's most likely client side. What OS and browser versions are you using?
Windows XP, I'm using MSN and so i'll assume that means I'm using Internet Explorer, not really sure what version.
Searching around on another site, they mentioned that Adobe Flash player was required to view their videos. So I downloaded the latest version and nothings changed.
I can still view videos on YouTube just fine.

Kind of annoying...

You're doing it wrong then! :P
I'm at work so it's IE6 and Windows XP.
Thoughts?
It could happen, but it's not a high priority right now.
Out of curiosity, what is high priority right now? I'm always interested about 'behind the scenes' stuff.
Getting Tube back to his home planet.
Australia's a planet, right?

Dango, Dango, Dango, Dango
