I was hoping to get Civ 4 Beyond the sword on the cheap today, but for some reason it's not even allowing me to purchase it.
I have the Civ 4 Gold Edition which contains Civ 4 and Warlords but it says that I do not have Civilization 4 and links me to its steam page. I've looked around on Steam's support page but it's lacking and I can't find anything about it on google or other sources. I know it works with boxed copies, but it's not recognizing mine at all. Anyone know a way to fix that?
Dude, you can't register your Civilization 4 copy on Steam, period.
It shouldn't matter. According to the Steam store pages for both Warlords and Beyond the Sword, they should work with both retail and Steam versions of Civ4. OP, have you tried registering your copy of Civ4 as an external game? I'd be surprised if that did the trick, but it's worth a shot. Failing that, contact Steam support. This sounds like the kind of issue they'd be motivated to solve ("I want to give you money, but you aren't letting me").
Also, really dumb question for you OP, but... your copy of Civ4 Gold Ed. is installed and working, yes? If it's not installed and/or not working, maybe Steam assumes you need to buy a copy of the base game.

Did you really look through Steam Support? It's right on the front page
