This game is pretty awesome, but there's something that's REALLY getting on my nerves. Every 20-30 minutes (sometimes less or more) the game freezes for 5 seconds and continues playing. Audio continues to play, but the screen freezes. Is this a problem with just my game?
Well my copy came this morning, as did I. But this was about 10 minutes before I had to go to work, so I decided I'd hold off on opening it until I get home, in about 5 hours.

Can't. I left the parcel on my bed at home, then left for work where I now sit, reading this thread. Already gone over the mini-drama of the other Brits waiting for their post (I just slept) and was relieved when they all got theirs. Now I'm just sitting, reading threads, doing some work, and pining.

So I start to beat someone down with my fists on the sidewalk. All of the sudden traffic stops and 5 guys get out of their cars and come running after me. There is no way I can kill them (no weapons) so I run to a police officer and let each guy hit me once. All of the sudden two other cop cars show up and theres now 6 officers with drawn weapons yelling at the 6 attackers to get on the ground.
Out of no where the pedestrians pullout 2 shotguns, 2 pistols, a bat, and a fucking RPG. After a small but intense battle everyone is dead and all of the sudden I have a stash of weapons I could only dream about earlier.
Zombie mode would take it from best game ever, to best anything ever.
edit: Veevee, your story is similar to how I acquired my first handgun and bat. It was awesome to see the police go after the dudes who randomly attacked me.
So, what are the indoor locations like? Can you walk into places like hospitals and police stations? If you get busted/killed, do you appear inside them, or out on the street in front as in previous games? Also, again asking, hows Juliette Lewis on Radio Broker and are the songs Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani and Teddy Picker by Arctic Monkeys in the game... I've been told they are by this very forum, but I can't see them in the song lists in the manual!

I haven't had any problems. I was fooling around with it for a while and didn't run into any sort of technical anomalies. You may want to delete some old saved games that you may no longer use to see if it frees up some memory, or disk space.
Got home with it shortly after midnight and managed to follow the storyline for over an hour before roommates and friends showed up and controller-passing mayhem sessions broke out until 5 AM.
The cars have much more realistic weight and physics.
You can't blast down a street at top speed, then brake at the last second for a turn. It'll take some getting used to, but I like how they've done it.
Oh, and I'm fairly sure the RB/A handbrakes are the same, just double-mapped on the controller.

Out of interest aswell, as I've heard it causes problems for Oblivion, have you cleared the HDD cache? I've never done this myself, and have no idea how... so if someone wouldn't mind telling me how, I might do that before I pop GTA4 in... if it may cause problems.
I'm going to pick up my copy of GTA IV later today before work, but chances are I won't get a chance to really sit down and play it until next week. I'll try to sneak in a few hours here and there, but until my schedule balances out with work and school I'm going to playing super early in the morning.

getting flattened by traffic has caused some really funny random deaths. dudes dont just stop now when you wander out into the road. especially on the expressway.
also, the cops really dont like it if you
go through the tunnels under the bridges to get to other islands when youre not supposed to be there yet according to the story. thats a fun trip when youre looking for some instant 6 star mayhem through downtown.
i need to add some PA guys for multiplayer madness, because even just playing with random schmucks its fun as hell. i can only imagine how great its going to be with actual people.
I just bought a second copy of the game off jb hi fi because I JUST CANNOT WAIT FOR A WEEK FOR THE GAME TO SHIP FROM HONG KONG. I figured once i get my uncensored copy i will just sell this one or return it for store credit or whatever.
One major fucking problem is that I keep on thinking that I'm missing a lot of stuffs that are censored on the Aussie version. It's like i feel that most of the scenes are uncomplete even though probably none of them have actually been censored. It's censor paranoia ffs.
So, last night I decided to go pick up the game at GameStop, where I thought I had preordered it. I went to the front of the line and told them that I didn't have a stamped receipt yet. They asked for my phone number, and explained that I wasn't in their system as having preorderd it. This was at about 12:02am, so they had just begun handing out the game to the people who had preordered it, payed for it and had a stamped receipt. I asked if there was any way to get the game despite having not preordered it and they just handed one over. I didn't have to stand in line or anything!

So Gogol Bordello didn't make the official soundtrack? That is disappointing, it was the first thing I thought about when I heard about the protagonist.

Seriously, it was nuts. We played Free Mode, Mafiya, and Team Deathmatch. Surprisingly, my favorite so far is Team Deathmatch. Being on a team and working together is really fun, not to mention calling up the other guys and taunting them. It's absolutely insane.
So I'm at work (posting from phone) are odds pretty good if I try and pick this up @ lunch. I'll be able to find it? I live in a pretty good sized area with a ton of stores, are shortages anticipated?

Nothing. It's just easier to hit RB to handbrake when you're using your right thumb to aim while shooting out of the window.
I have yet to perfect the handbrake-turn-to-facing-enemy-to-headshot-to-peel-out manoeuvre, though.
I've perfected the handbrake 180, just don't have my aiming down yet. I did manage to handbrake 180, get a shot off through the windshield of a car and still have enough speed to do another 180 and continue in the original direction. Didn't kill anyone, but it looked cool.

And there are so many of us. I need to get a wireless adapter hard. Trying to play BF2 with PAers mde me come to the conclusion that online multiplayer wasn't for me because I was stuck playing with random French people I didn't know rather than the PA crew who were all american in BF2. It will be nice to shoot people and then mock them in the forums afterwards (or be shot by people and not log in the day after so I don't get mocked).

if you quick tap RB around a door or two close objects niko will do a quick roll from one side to the other.

i just did that mission too but i was too busy beating people to death with blunt objects to be able to tell you how to do it heh.
i believe its just hitting "b" on an enemy that isnt quite aware of you yet. you have to be unarmed too.
