"Mapmakers can now place Engineer buildings directly into a map, with an option for them to be invulnerable"
I think we can expect maps that have teleporters and sentries everywhere. Although an invulnerable sentry wouldn't be much fun.
wow, i totally want to make a map with invulnerable sentries that teams can activate themselves...a sentry underground, players stand on a platform to slowly raise it up, and when nobody is on the platform it slowly goes back beneath the ground
I think using a console command to unlock achievements is kind of lame, and I assume it's a debug option they forgot to take out. It's not going to kill you to earn them legitimately, they're not that hard.
Isn't there an achievement for getting a number of achievements, and that ONE unlocks the weapon?
Also I thought there already were invulnerable buildings. That one tiny melee-only CTF map with the trains and the wall (I forget what it's called) has an indestructable dispenser in it near the spawn.
Earlier we were defending on goldrush and my entire team went to the wrong end of the map.
I think that defence was pretty much the definition of a steamroll.

Well for me I couldn't be bothered to input 3 commands when I could input one, check them out, then go back to study.
Acheivements mean shit. If I keep you alive constantly and consistently and you want to turn up your nose because I don't care about a little ring ding ding thing over my head then piss off. I've never boasted about acheivements or stats and I never will. I only like to tell war stories every now and again because some of the situations I get into are craaaaazy.
I can live without every weapon but the vampire gun and I'll get that in a few hours if they reset everything.
I've been thinking of resetting my stats anyway. I'm at my personal limit for a few things and so I only ever get told I get close to something. I want to beat myself at something again!
I'm one of those people who is unhealthily obssessed about beating his own ghost car in racing games...

Goldrush is so good that I think we should never go back to dustbowl.
A) very fucking laggy steam roll all over again.
sigh
I was kidding, the lag is temporary and steamrolls will stop when everyone starts to know the map.
Every time I was on defence we stoped the other team on the first stage everytime last night, except for once. I really dont think its going to be a dustbowl steamroll.
Okay, I've been screwing around with the console commands, and I might have found a way to fix my corrupted original achievement issue using similar commands.

was the other team totally made up of medics running around like douchebags?
I know everybody has been playing Goldrush but has anyone played Granary the patch notes say
"Added setup time logic, and gates to the middle"
This could be interesting of course it makes it more like Well, and I thought Granary was way funnier than well. I don't think there should be much setup time. It just creates turtling and 4 ubers out of the gate. I would like to see Dustbowl with only 30 seconds of setup time I think it would be more interesting.
Yeah it's impossible to find a good game right now. Medic is my third most played class and I just can't play it now. No team needs 4 or 5 medics so I can't switch to it. And the people who are playing medic suck at it so badly.
Why bother unlocking weapons for a class you've obviously never played before and will probably never play again?
Now that I think about it, I really wish the unlocks would have been something like "for every 10/20 hours of that class played, you get the next unlock" or something. Then your options are either be an idle cock or actually just play the damn class without the shenanigans.
Why bother unlocking weapons for a class you've obviously never played before and will probably never play again?
I don't play medic a whole bunch(I'm guessing 5th most played), but it's still nice to have the weapon choices for when I actually have the urge or am needed. I guess it just kind of annoys me that my opponents could be using things I can't that they received for something they did outside of the actual match that we're playing. Just sayin'.
I'm going to use the console command. I feel kinda cheap for doing it, but I've played medic for like 4-5 hours max., and almost never play the class anyway. You might then legitimately point out that I therefore have no need of the unlockables, but I like to have options open to me.

Where do I send suggestions?!
i totally agree....i think this is the best option because at least people will be trying to play the classes in a helpful manner
The way I feel about these achievements is that they aren't there so much as a block for getting the items
they're a way to better yourselves as a medic
you know that by the time you get every achievement you're a damn good medic
or a lucky medic
i understand not using the console command though to get the achievements, i'll probably use it to get the weapons but i want to at least get the achievements on my own through playing normally

was the other team totally made up of medics running around like douchebags?
Both team were a little, it died off towards the end and there were only 3 medics on both team. I remember being one of the only demo men on my team, so it was really easy to rape face once i found a the flanking places in the first stage.
Then uh why don't they just get the 3 achievements that unlock the weapons
What's the point of unlocking all the other ones if you don't really care about them
I'm guessing some people just really don't care about achievements and figure one command is easier to type than three. Or didn't know when they typed the one that you could do them individually. Either way, what does it matter to you? Do you think anybody, anybody at all, is impressed by your TF2 achievements to begin with, or will suddenly be less so because somebody else just unlocked them all?
Yeah I got a few of the really grinding ones over with with pasmo, but I'm going to get the rest legitimately
I might just unlock the ones to get the weapons, but I sure as hell ain't cheating for the rest of them
I frankly expected better of some of you
Translation: I'm only willing to cheese out on some of the achievements rather than get them legitimately, so I'm obviously better than those of you that cheese out on all of them.
I love how people seem to think that your only reasonable options are:
1) Grind for gear
2) Cheat for achievements
What about...
3) The new stuff is barely noticeable, and getting the occasional achievement is kinda fun, just get it when you get it and play the game?
On the off-chance that my team needs/wants a medic with cruber ability, and none of the other medics have it either, I don't think we should simply have to go without. This is not an MMO.
How lame do you have to be to cheat to get achievements?
And you realize that you're just going to make them reset everything, taking away stuff from people who actually earned these, right?
If they actually take away everybody's achivements because some people used a command that they left in, then they're the dicks, not me. Plus, since scores of other people have already used it we're already down that road...my actions are irrelevant at this point. Though who knows, maybe it really is just until the end of the free weekend.
So when you reset your personal stats, do you automatically lose all of your achievements?
No. But I'm pretty sure they removed the reset function anyway, didn't they?
They did. And when it was active, it didn't reset your achievements. Though it would reset your progress-based achievements...I had 23 of my 25 headshots when I did it...probably wouldn't matter for Flippy, but I don't play sniper much so it kinda sucked.
So yeah, went ahead and unlocked the three progress achievements. I actually find trying to get the other ones (or more so seeing which I come across anyway, at least for a while) kind of fun. But I think the idea of tying new equipment to achievements is a horrible, horrible plan. Not as bad as selling them outright, but still horrible. I play medic reasonably often, and I'm often the first dude to switch to medic if my team has none or needs another. Which is more than can be said of most of the people clogging the servers with medics now, and for some of the guys PASMOing it up. I see no reason I should have to grind, in competition with these dudes, just to get cruber ability.
The way I feel about these achievements is that they aren't there so much as a block for getting the items
they're a way to better yourselves as a medic
you know that by the time you get every achievement you're a damn good medic
That's a steaming pile of horseshit. You might get two of the weapons by being a damn good medic. But there are a handful of achievements there that either A) involve the actions of others that you have no control over and which are not great strategies anyway or you will only get by being, at best, a useless-ass medic.
And if you really see this as the case why were you part of the PASMO?
All right what the fuck is with trying to attribute skill to some of these
The fact of the matter is that medics who are far better than me will still find themselves lacking some of these because they're absurdly situational and/or require circumstances that are very unlikely or involve fucking around and potentially shafting your own teammates- that's right, Edcrab is a better medic than Morningfish because he forces his fucking heavy to punch people.
If you're "cheating" and using a command to access the unlockables, good luck to you. If you want to do it the regular way, good luck to you.
God, why is there even a debate about this, people should be killing bitches not bitchin' at them...
you know that by the time you get every achievement you're a damn good medic
If you get certain achievements legitimately, you're either a shit medic, or the players you're up against are barely functional, even by pubbie standards.
I don't give a flying fuck what others think about me
I'm trying to better myself as a TF2 player and I can measure my progress through these achievements
Well bully for you. And a fair portion of those achievements either either luck based, any idiot will get them given time, or actually require you to not better yourself as a player and actively encourage poor strategies.
So they say nothing about your progress as a TF2 player.
Also, there's no Santa Claus.
And if you're using them to measure your progress, what progress exactly did the PASMO represent?

kill five people with the bonesaw while saving an uber defending the point
I hope this doesn't happen every time new weapons are added. Just imagine the Sniper update, or, oh god, the spy update.
Also, the mega turtle engineer update. It's all shit, just give us the weapons, I don't want to game to go through some huge upheaval every time something is released.

A completely pointless gesture, but they were really starting to bug me...
As for the new Granary, yeah, I'd really like to play it. People had been suggesting Well-esque gates for ages, and it's nice to see them appear.
