Xbox 360 Notifications?

The little notification icons that pop up whenever you get an achievement, something is finished downloading etc. never appear on my 360. Does anyone know why this is and how I fix it?

    Press the Guide button. Go to Personal Settings hit notifications and make sure it is turned on. If its off they will never pop up, if that's not whats wrong than I have no clue.
