So, I created a neat character. At the moment, she's an Energy/Ice Blaster, but she might end up becoming a Controller of some sort. Or I just might end up switching her primary and secondary.
Why is she neat?

Well, maybe she looks a little familiar.
She looks a little like Ms Liberty to me.
Not sure how great an Energy/Ice Blaster would be, but I'm really interested in an Ice/NRG or Ice/Electric. It'd be like my Elec/Elec but without the drains (which aren't that good) and the DoT (which really aren't that good on a Blaster) and more ST damage and holds.
Caltrops also mess with the enemy AI in ways that are delicious for a cunning blaster or stalker.
Caltrops is great for bunching mobs up for AoEs.
That's like saying Rain of Fire is great for bunching mobs, in that it is totally wrong. Super wrong. Not correct.
Does it no longer slow? I haven't used them in a long, long time. It used to slow mobs fairly well, which could be used to keep them trapped if you had someone else working with you. You could also do rows on each side and have a little "reverse mohawk" down a cooridor and mobs would run down the corridor rather than go over the caltrops, which was good for cones. I could be outdated, though. I haven't played an AR/Dev in a long time.
If I remember correctly it used to be broken in that with enough slows or multiple applications it would stop whatever was in it. I believe it has a fear component similar to the one Burn has as well.

Oh, you've been seeing this girl for as long as you've played CoH. Just look closely at the girl to the right of Statesman in the login screen.
(She was probably a prototype Miss Liberty either way.)
Also, Energy/Ice was mostly to mesh with the name I got, Star Crystal. I'm STILL rather unsure on whether or not to keep her AT and powerset. I might go with Energy/Fire, just because she has a lot of orange in her costume. Hrm.
I remember suggesting a friend make an Ice/Elec or Ice/Energy named Aurora somethingorother, but either would work with your name!
Never been a fan of Energy Blast. Sure, it's the most distinctive in appearance (especially for Dominators, Tankers and Scrappers) but the knockbacks usually work against you. Then again, I have no problem with Kheldian Nova knockback, so...
She definitely looks like a Blaster though, or maybe a Defender.

Energy Melee and Energy Blast look completely different.
Someone should have told me how good this game looks at max graphic settings. For some reason I didn't think my computer could handle it, but it doesn't even stutter even when I'm in Atlas Park.
I haven't had any problem with the knockback with Energy Blast. It usually helps me out since it means the enemies aren't hitting me, giving me a chance to kill or seriously injure someone with sniper. Though I do have most of my powers slotted for damage and range. Besides Energly Blast is really nice looking.
Just one more level and I can finally do the mission to respec.

Knockback on energy blasts is wonderful for blasters. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly someone teaming with the blaster in question.

That's just about the best way someone can put it.

I was looking at that screen recently and realizing that I don't know who half those heroes are supposed to be. Were they signature heroes who got cut/changed, or are they supposed to represent players?

I like this one. But aren't some of those helmets locked to either male or female? Or did that get changed with I12? I'd love to use the crab spider helm on a female character, but I'm not sure that's going to be an option.

i think the only gender locked helmet was the widow hat
Does Stone Melee have a lower accuracy than other attack sets? on my 39 Stone/WP Brute I seem to miss enemies more than I do on any of my other high levels characters. This is with 2 acc SOs in each attack

I don't believe so. I think almost all powersets are 75% base tohit, except a handful of powersets that have slightly boosted tohit to account for the fact that they're all lethal/smashing.

I can easily see prototype Statesman, Sister Psyche, Miss Liberty, Back Alley Brawler and Synapse. Possibly even Luminary and Positron.
Some of these were recurrent in more promotional art and even in the earlier CG movies.

...Yes? I was talking about Energy Assault blasts for Dominators (which are read), and the Energy Blast clone powers in the Tanker and Scrapper Epics - which are red. Energy Torrent is sooooo hot on my Claws/SR Scrapper, for example.

Hello, my name is Hoverman. Meet my friend, Wallman and his brother, Cornerman. People still love us, because we put things on their back, and while things are on their back, they're not shooting at anyone, and against objects or at greater than 45deg, knockback becomes knockdown.
However, I understand the frustration of tanks and scrappers feeling they have to chase everything, especially the Earth guys that get rooted and then see people bounce away. But, getting them back to you is what Taunt, with its hliarious "ahhhh" sound, is for. However, once the eng/? blaster gets some time under his belt and learns how to "play pool" right, it's not a problem. It requires time and strategy on the part of the eng/? blaster, but blasters should be playing positionally anyway to line up cones. Even the fire guys gotta be all strategic at times and can't just burninate their way through everything.
I think that's why I am drawn to blaster, scrappers, corrupters, and stalkers. It's not so much that other characters don't have to think... tanks have to keep their mind on everyone, too, as do defenders and controllers, but when you live by the cone and/or have to find either the strongest or the weakest antelope in the herd all the time, it adds an aspect to the game for me that's a lot of fun.
I will admit that I sometimes get carried away with energy torrent. It's fun bowling a strike. But, usually when teaming I only start really tossing people around if they get too close to me. If the guy didn't accept the taunt and just wants to come loping up to me, I'm going to power push/thrust them away from myself and the other squishies.
Not sure I feel like figuring out Mastermind's pet controls right now.
The controls are pretty simple... mostly attack, defend, don't do anything, stay put, get over here. The pathfinding is a hassle, though... you're better off dismissing them if you're going to travel up/down/around or sneak through a zone, as they can train in trouble and can leave you in a high-water situation without high-water pants if you walk up on something and they're still screwing around with a fence somewhere... since while you do have some offensive abilities on your own and carry around a little gun/bow/evil hand, your pet is your primary weapon. The powerups are a PITA, and you have to re-summon and re-set everything when you zone. I like the concept, but it's a lot of micromanaging. I'd rather just beat some ass.
Alright, I've gotten on the Virtue server and I'm still new in the game (played two days). I'm pretty much just doing the missions from the contacts and fighting random mobs that I find on the way to the missions. Will I be doing this all the way to Level 50? Are there any "must see" things that I'll miss?
I'm a Super Strength/Willpower guy playing with a Fire Blast/Thermal Radiation partner.
They recently put in a system where you can "level down" and redo any neat content you may have missed, so outside a very small handful of missions, you'll be fine. when you hit 20, you'll want to head to Striga (off talos or independence port), and when you're 25 you'll want to go to croatoa (off the tram). Those are some pretty funtimes zones.
I'm excited for 2xEXP weekend simply to see how obscenely fast we will level this time. This is the first 2xEXP since the EXP changes went live.
Those vet rewards are all right. I can't say I'm terribly thrilled with the chance to pick a third vet power, that just seems lazy.
They really ought to just put a cap on the system if they aren't going to come up with anything new for them.
Double XP will be cool, I haven't felt like playing much the last few weeks, so that might bring me back. I'll probably pop in this week to make sure the market doesn't eat any of my stuff.

They have? I recently completed the Frostfire Arc in the Hollows but seemed to have outleveled the remaining missions for the zone (Striker at level 18). Flux doesn't direct me to any further contacts like Julius the Troll. Is this level down feature automatic or how does one activate it?

I've sometimes had the channel sort of stop working for me, followed by the client automatically reconnecting to it. Doesn't happen that much though.
Are you TrueBlue, by any chance?
So that explains why you suddenly stopped responding about your camera settings. :P

I may be wrong on all accounts though.

energy blast is blue if you are a hero, red if you are a villain
But then these are the same people who gave Dominators rainbow colored sparkles to denote their Domination ability.

51 Month reward - badge, all CoV preorder helmets
54 Month reward - badge, additional choice from the 4 vet temp powers
2xXP next weekend
Meh? I might come back for 2xXP if I'm bored enough.

Good start to the day. Pity it's going to be the worst one of your life. The light is now on.
Small correction. Energy Blast is only red for Dominators. Corruptor energy blast is blue. You almost never see an Energy Blast corr though.

My Dominator (mid teens) is decent, but he's Grav/Energy, meaning kinda weak teamwise...
The Brute I tried was rather mediocre.

Not super interested in stalkers.
Corrupter seems moderately interesting, though I dunno what type I could try, was thinking Fire/Storm.
