42" TV - Plasma(?) 720P or 1080P

Hey all,

So I am finally getting a nice HD TV. It will be mostly video games and movies. Lighting isn't going to be a big issue (the window will be behind the TV) so I am thinking of getting a plasma TV because I hear that it is pretty much superior to LCD.

I was planning on getting a 720P but I have the option of getting a 1080P for $200 more.

Obviously I would rather not spend the extra money just for giggles, but is 1080P going to make a significant difference in a 42" TV? I have a 360 right now but will eventually get a PS3 and probably eventually get blue-ray movies.

Should I just bite the bullet and get the 1080P? Or is it going to be a waste of money on a TV that small(!)?

Thanks!

Here are the options:

Panasonic 42" Plasma 720P - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889187079

Panasonic 42" Plasma 1080P - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889187081

P.S. Assuming I'm not an idiot, plasma will be fine for video games right? No burn in?

P.P.S. Is there a magic number of HDMI that people say a TV should have? 2? 3? Thanks!
