Vista wireless ping spike, every 60 seconds.

I've googled this, and found plenty of people with the same problem. No solutions.

I have Vista, all updates and whatnot installed. I have a Linksys router on the other side of the apartment, and my gaming computer in this room. Moving the router/modem is not an option. I am using a Compact Wireless-G USB adapter.

My signal strength is very good. My ping in games is awesome, like, 30 when playing TF2. No complaints.

But every 60 seconds or so, I get a ping spike, usually 4 digits. My googling tells me that its from vista trying to find a new access point. In XP you could turn this off with some cleverness, but in Vista you cant, aparrently?

Im not the most knowledgable in the works of computers and interwebs. I know enough to follow along with linksys's settup wizard to set this stuff up, but any instructions/fixes would be more appreciated if they were spelled out in simplest terms possible.

Yeah, there's a program called. Vista Anti Lag that should fix this. Keep it running whilst you're gaming etc. http://www.codecase.de/index.php/download-val

I think this is mainly a problem with network card drivers rather than Vista itself.

edit: To see if this has fixed anything open a command window and set up a constant ping to a server
    e.g.
    ping -t www.google.com

With my network card I had to use the XP drivers rather than the Vista drivers in combination with Vista Anti Lag. So that might be worth a shot as well.

Yeah, I did that last night. XP Drivers+Vista Anti Lag=no more spikes. Thanks.
