The issue of gender is meaningless when dealing with a race of shapeshifters. If runaways is to believed, gender is chosen by preference or not at all. Xavin (if that's his name) had no problems turning female when the situation called for it and couldn't understand why Shiny-Alien-Runaway-Girl didn't like it when he turned male.
but the context of the dialouge from during and after the rituals makes it easy to deduce that whatever the actuall process is, one of the end results is assuming the memories/personality of the person.

Hey, so, has anyone decoded what the Skrulls are saying during those transformation rituals? If you look at the scenes where they're doing the "I am human. I am male" bit, you can match the English letters to the Skrull symbols, but I haven't taken the time to translate (or transliterate, really) what the Skrulls conducting the rituals are saying. Has anyone done that?

that's still pretty flimsy compared to what sue storm has done to them over the years. it seems like they'd be just as likely to go after dr strange and rick jones as iron man, then. still doesn't seem "special" enough to warrant torture next to reed richards.

c) Inadvertently caused the destruction of the Skrull homeworld - it's his fault Frankie Raye saw the starcharts that pointed her toward their homeworld, and it's Reed's fault for saving Galactus in the first place
d) Caused the whole 'skrulls can't shapeshift anymore' thing (though it didn't last)

If we are taking a vote, I read it as Sue and Reed. As in the queen was responding to the previous statement.
I don't get how you all are seeing that. There was never even mention of killing Sue. First she talks about Reed, then Tony. "and Reed Richards and that #$%^ Tony Stark." "We should kill them now, I can be Sue Storm, I can Kill Richards in his Own Bed Tonight"
Sue's name doesn't come up until after they talk about Tony and Reed. It's pretty clear that they talked about killing Reed and Tony not Sue
So what if they hate Sue. Tony's a (somewhat) hero to the people, and he basically runs the show when it comes to protecting the Earth. With Sue it may be personal, but they if they can wait this long to invade they aren't going to fuck Sue's shit up until the time is right. Tony is a bigger threat.
Either way, while Hank Pym's fate is a sort of conclusive (Unless they did some sort of bag and tag and threw him in storage off-panel, but that'd be some dumb cop-out post SI), do you guys think Jessica Drew is dead? It just kind of faded to black on her. I'll also be interested to see the Inhuman crossover, and see if that resolves what happened to Blackbolt. Surely some of the characters being impersonated have to live.

Well its hard to say the timeline because that first Mighty Avengers arc was so delayed, but that was the first mission for the Mighty Avengers and they are already a team during World War Hulk, so I'd say it happens first
