Is there really a business case for this? I mean, I'd buy it, and I'm sure a bunch of people around here would buy it. How are you going to convince the average Wii owner to give a crap about it?

I'm sure it's been mentioned in the thread, but I really think it's a stretch to refer to Kid Icarus as a "franchise".

It was a fun game from 20 years ago that a lot of us remember fondly, and then the main character showed up in a Smash Bros. game. That's it.

I'm happy to see another game, but... franchise?

KI has two games and smash Bros.

Halo is considered a franchise and only has two and a half games.
Halo also has pretty popular novels, a shit-ton of toys, figures in the Hero-Clix thing, all that shit.

    Can't argue with that.

You cant base whether something is a franchise or not on how many games there are. It all about the Benjamins baby! And the merchandise.

Nah, if they make a KI game they won't be using that design.

At least I hope they won't.

Someone please tell me they won't.

The same way they convince them for any other game.* Hype, and lots of it. And hopefully a good enough game to support said hype.

    * Arguably barring Metroid Prime 3.

Well you could always have the main character guest star in a really popular high selling game on the console.

    ... Wait a second.

I could see a Kid Icarus game being very very successful, and I love Platform Adventures with RPG undertones. KI was built off the old Metroid engine originally, I could see this game being a mixture of Metroid Prime and Legend of Zelda.

If Metroid-level sales are the upper bound of what you can expect, it seems a little shaky to me.

But I do think a Kid Icarus game is being made right now, actually. Just not one based on this concept art.

Whats the big deal with IGN? I love them.

    Sold reviews?

IGN Nintendo editor dedicated the last two years to the Gamecube's life by detailing how horrible a company Nintendo is and how crappy the games on the system are?

    POV "news" articles?

The fact that Casamasina could easily get in Perrin Kaplan's panties but he never threw her any?

If a KI game is being made, I'd be surprised if Pit isn't instantly recognizable as Brawl Pit (which much of that concept art is not). You can never underestimate the power of SSB revivals/introductions. See Marth and Roy.

IGN is really only good for getting media on a game because they get a ton of it.

Or make it the best bunch of angel mini games that the world has ever seen!

Why not both? Rope in both markets!

I honestly wouldn't mind if they ran with a more mature design. What the fuck do I care if they're not true to the "spirit" of some two decade old platformer?

Pit fighting the Corpse-God's Blood Legion? Sure. As long as it's first party and good, I'm down like a clown.

While I've never played the original KI game, I think that the series could be revived and it could be popular if Nintendo did a lot of marketing. I bet a lot of kids would like to play as an angel that shoots laser arrows, and it could also appeal to a larger crowd for being an action game. I'd like to see this game as a more lighthearted and action oriented version of Zelda.

Oh, and absolutely use the brawl version of Pit and not these "mature" ones.
