The biggest issue with a group not doing it is not clearing all of the trash in the room after the first boss. When you start the escort, two of the big shadow guys spawn around the node, and they pull together despite being 30 yards or so apart. Them + the four trash pulls around them = a wipe.
I just did that the other night, the Tankadin, Healadin and Rogue all outleveled the place, my 65 priest and my wifes 65/66 Druid were in quest greens and blues from Hellfire and some of Zangarmarsh.
Only death was when I stupidly used Vampiric Embrace on the first mob during the first ambush.
We were fine through the rest of it. (Healadin said at some point that he had over 90k honor worth of healing gear on. That might have been a big part of why we found it so easy.)
I love how Dark Iron started off strong, we were in the top 15 PvP servers at one point, and then FREAKIN STOPPED as soon as we got the badge vendor...
We're 191st?!?
I think we're all too busy cybering on Moon Guard to accomplish anything!
Happy: new computer likely arriving tomorrow or Thursday.
Hope: that I can save everything off the old hard drive (reason for new computer = second hard drive going "NTLDR not found" and refusing to boot from CD drive so I can try to repair). Machine was several years old anyway...
Question: if I can in fact get everything off the old hard drive, is there a way to bypass the massive patching by copying the WoW folder from the old drive to the new one? Or is it going to be Friday or Saturday before I can actually play? I know I'll have to run the base installs (original game and TBC).
You don't have to run the base installs or anything, just copy the files over and run the exe (whatever it's called, WoW.exe probably). I'm on my 3rd PC since I started playing WoW, I've never reinstalled.

happy: SSC clear tonight, and the only people who would be contesting my tier 5 gloves if they drop will not be online

Ah, not clearing out that room before starting would be a problem.
I did it on my warlock, mage, and both rogues. I tired to tank it with my warrior the mob died on the second ambush.
My paladin has a far more of a horror story. I was healing a run over a druid who had a mix of moonkin and feral druid gear attempting to tank the instance.
I only have so much mana
We had a group of guildies try it once on normal a few months ago. Keep in mind, these guys are rockstars, they pump out heroics daily like they were nothing, we horrible outgeared the place.
Yeah, we wiped. It's fucking stupid. Worst 5-man quest in the game, also kudo's to not being repeatable unless you reclear 85% the instance.
I healed it on my 64 priest with a lv 65 pally tank, 2 mages and a hunter. It was a joke.

My server's 181st, but it's really out of date. We have since gotten both the badge vendor AND the monument.
UBER HATE: For the first time in weeks I couldn't make it to the raid and they fucking killed her. I mean I'm happy we finally killed her as she was about to tear our guild apart. But man, I invested a ton of time, money and nerves into this encounter AND I DESERVE TO BE ON THE FUCKING KILLSHOT.
Ugh, I just had a conversation about paladins, its depressing how arena ruined pvp.
Back when pvp was fun, the paladin spec was holy/ret hybrid. You had a one hander and shield for healing and destroying rogues and warriors, and then a two hander and seal of command that you'd get out when you needed to help take out casters.
You could do everything well, nothing best, and it was completely fun.

This is me and Twins.... took us about 10 nights to learn, I was there for 8 of them, then they kill him while I'm at my grandfathers birthday.
It took longer because we switched after 4 nights to a reverse tactic because p2 was being painful, and in reverse tank position is really bloody tight... and let's not speak of the people who can't stand still on a balcony without falling off. (That last one must've been one in five wipes on the last 3 nights I was there).

There's nothing quite like getting buffs up for an attempt, getting consumables up, edging carefully into position on the railing, and then watching a rogue who doesn't even need to start on the railing go soaring over the edge while trying to jump up, wiping the group.
Happy: Kalecgos through Twins in one night (albeit a long one). Brutallus is still our largest cockblock, just because the RNG sometimes screws you even with 5 healers on the tank.
Hate: Oh god, a week of Mu'ru work.
Hope: With only six healers needed on Mu'ru, maybe I won't be spending every single day in there.

One of these days, perhaps when I hit 70, I'm going to ask people in trade if they want to come with me to raid Southshore just like I hear people used to before Battle Grounds and Arena. It could work, people on my server pug city raids all the time.
Happy: FINALLY completed my Aldor Regalia! This might not seem important to all our BT/Sunwell raiders, but this is my first complete set and it feels awesome.
Annoyed: Doing the Netherwing faction grind yet again. Once was more than enough.
Happy: Found 5 Netherwing Eggs last night in the space of 5 minutes.
It's not that bad for me.
Did it the first time on my prot pally, doing it now on my mage.
The only bad part the second time around was the netherwing relic quest with the mobs that would evade while doing their aimed shots.
First time I did it with my geared Rogue and was spoiled thanks to stealth. Second time around i'm using my Warrior and just find myself getting pretty messed up out there. Those ravagers and shit hit really hard compared to the Shattered Sun stuff i'm used to. Warriors don't really have a "oh shit gtfo" button so basically it's easy to get in over your head out there.
Also I stopped bothering with the stupid relic quest the second I hit revered, such a pain in the ass. I found a great place for melee to go though, where you can run up and engage them so you aren't stuck getting shot from midair.

Good to know, I may have to do that, as I'm sitting at 3k away from exalted and I'm hoping to get it completely done this week sometime (can't do it tonight or tomorrow), I'd like to get it all done in one shot.
Well, how'd he advertise it? Why exactly did they laugh it him? Like, "arenalol" kind of shit?
Well at the time the alliance on my server were spending time on very important pursuits.
Like linking Legendary items constantly.
edit: With Vanity flying mounts, on my Dwarf I only want a Gryphon, so since I haven't even started with netherwing I don't really see a reason to now. But with my Draenei, I want a Hippogryph.

If they released the other skins for Hippogryphs I would be so happy...

Oomg gratz! I was in the same boat forever and ever, the first set I finally completeed was Arena S2. (I was happy it happened during S2 still) Then I realized this was true:
Arena ruined alot of things.
One of them being fun.
At least for me. Even when we were winning it wasn't fun. I know if I'd continued once S3 started, I'd have the shoulders by now... I wasn't far off then, and they buffed the hell out of survivability of my class right before S3. I just realized it was not fun for me, at all. I love running in BG's as a PvP healer. I do not love running in Arenas as a PvP mana burn/dispell bitch, while desperately trying not to die, the only thing in my field of vision is the piller I'm humping.
I still run around occasionally in Arenas with friends, but meh. Not for me anymore.
People on my server have developed a fetish for linking spells in trade chat. For Instance:
Guy A: I'm going to [Devastate] you fools.
Guy B: Haha, not me! I'm going to [Vanish].
Guy C: Not if I hit you with my [Pyroblast] first.
Goddamnit, it's not funny, people.
Generally, the trade chat is pretty retarded here. Every 30 minutes or so some will be all "omg that blue lvl 19 sword on the ah is nevah worth 50g lol ^^ XD"

I want the blue. I think that would be sweet.
