20 more minutes until I find out what these 15 units are that are sent to my capital. I'm going to assume that my upgraded Ballista ships and my various other vessels will be able to bring the smack-down. After that it is time to bring the battle back to his colonies. Those links a few posts up will be great for this.

Beowulf Villa is still unprotected, it's at Noophaos[85:54] and nets you quite a lot of marble and wine. I haven't bothered checking out his other cities, I don't want to put my other cities on the line of fire here.

He's awfully quick to list his cities there. Ask him if you can have the location to go with the name. To, erm, verify that they really exist. :winky:

I found Grendl Villa (capital, probably with his standing army in it) and Ecgthow Villa. I guess Hrothgar Villa is somewhere close by, but I'm lazy.

    *edit:

    oh snap:
    Troops in Grendl Villa
    Unit Quantity
    Slinger 68
    Swordsman 41
    Phalanx 24
    Catapult 3
    Ram 3
    Doctor 1
    Archer 4
    	Fleets in Grendl Villa
    Ship Quantity
    Ram-Ship 5
    Ballista Ship 48

So I was going over my combat log, and realised that the only decent target I've hit in ages is my good ol' buddy Mekka, who I wanged nicely a while back. Only, now that I head back to his city to hit him up for some resources again, I found he's built a defence! Oh noes!

Anyway, his only defense is 29 slingers. He's even got a 0% wall (level 1 at a level 14 city).

My nearest city currently only has 6 swordsmen, 5 slingers, a doctor and a cook, and loads of rams (not that I'll need those). And of course 25 phalanx, but those aren't going anywhere. I could also stack up on archers.

Question: How much do you think I should build up before I wang him? Another dozen swordsmen maybe? Or are archers a better prospect? I just got access to those, so haven't built any yet.

    Thoughts?

Interesting thread about importance of stamina on Ikariam board.

    TLDR -
Large forces need to keep cooks on staff in order to be truly effective if in offence or defensive battles
An interesting table of stamina's effect on units

    * 3/4 Stamina - Damage and armor protection are reduced to 80% of their value
    * 1/2 Stamina - Damage and armor protection are reduced to 60% of their values and the units lose all special abilities
    * 1/4 Stamina - Damage and armor protection reduced to 40% of their value. What is more is that there is a 60% chance per round that the unit tries to flee.

It seems that after the drubbing his forces received yesterday, our friend The Captain has decided to put his energy towards producing...slingers.

    Lots of them.

Which isn't surprising, considering the only resources his city has are wood and wine.

Oh well, I'm going to be away most of today, so I cannot press the attack. Tomorrow I will go ahead and finish his slingers. Today, I raid for resources. Those level four mansions aren't going to build themselves, you know.

On the missing trade-ship thing, there is a known bug in the game whereby trade ships, once caught in a blockade, can sometimes disappear from the player's list for a random amount of time. One of the posted "remedies" to this problem is to blockade the port of the person who caught the ship in the first place, thereby causing the trade-ship to magically reappear. This is what that guy was trying to do. I consider that remedy a folk-tale and hold no stock in it, myself.

But this is why you should make sure your trade-ships don't get caught in blockades... bad things can happen.

    edit
@Legba: Phalanx are actually extremely effective against slingers. They do enough damage to kill three each round, yet it takes 6 slingers to bring one down. You should send a few phalanx in the attack force when you are taking on slingers.

they sent it back and said that they were not into keeping my ship..that it might have just got caught up in the battle and would make repirations if it didnt come back..
this was terrible dealaltogether..i dont know what to think to say..we sorta see eye to eye i think can you see it in your heart to see that i made a mistake and honestly did not know it was you?

It might be the drool dripping down your face, or perhaps the fugliness of the face down which said drool is dripping, but your offer quite frankly makes me want to spew black bile everywhere. If you have a scratch that needs itching, might I suggest a feline suppository. If you were to insert it tail first, it should tickle, like the pickle, which you so crave. His navy is weak, but with 40 phalanx behind those walls, he might be a tough nut to crack. Also, with all that money, resources, and high level barracks, he could counter attack pretty easily.

Might be time to test this fine gentleman's cat poetry skills, imo

Do we think an Italian Sonnet be too much to ask for in this situation?

Do you think he would be capable of that? I'd say he sounds more like the kind of guy who would dig writing in the style of an inner city rap poet

    inner city => suburban, imo

i shudder to think what eminem has to say about cats, I'll tell him it must be in glowing praise of our furry friends.
