Why is Dan Abrams saying Clinton is closing the gap and only 4 points down in Oregon

He's quoting polls with horribly flawed methodology. Polbano said that the Suffolk one had like half of of the state in the "Southwest" column, when most of the population is North in and around Portland. They also had 1/3rd say that they had already voted when the number of already voted was closer to 2/3rds.

The other one was ARG. I don't think I need to get into that one.

    Oregon has early polls?

Also Dan Abrams is a fucking toolbox.

They have mail-in voting that starts pretty early.

Early as in Obama coming off big win in North Carolina, or early as in Clinton is The Comeback Kid Redux Pennsylvania?

I got my ballot on the 5th and mailed it the same day. I don't remember what was happening then.

    Oregon does elections by mail.

    It's awesome.

I don't get why more states aren't like that.

Oh well, at least my precinct uses scantron bubbles instead of antiquated pull levers, or diebold's brand new 'vote' tallying touch screens.

I think the start of May so between the two. But Oregon is Obama territory.

The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

    We can't stop here?

I heard there were some bugs in the system that they had to stamp out. Supposedly it works great now though.

I could definitely see some concerns with ballot stuffing and added costs to ensure that your voter rolls are actually up to date every couple years. But the latter bit is something the government should be doing anyway because of the risks of the former.

Doesn't Australia do this country wide for their elections?

Yes, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. The split decision tommorrow shouldn't change the course, either. We're heading for an obamularity. The 'limit' of awesomeness.

Also Dan Abrams is a fucking toolbox.

He's just a lawyer, he can't help it. Abrams does do some good stuff, like follow the Don Siegelman case like a hound dog and provide a reasonably unbiased view of the candidates' screwups (his "Teflon John" segments are usually pretty entertaining in an "Old man yells at cloud" sorta way).

Geraldine Ferraro is the toolbox, but let's keep in mind that she's a paid shill for Fox News. Think about that for a second. You're a bitter woman who was quite purposefully an Affirmative Action VP candidate in a doomed bid for the candidate who can't help but notice the race of certain candidates over the course of 20 years and your political philosophy has fallen as out of favor as your own career on shows like Crossfire. What's left to you? Sure you can get involved with charities and activism and maybe a friend's political campaign, but when it comes down to it, the best and easiest money you're going to make is by going on the channel owned by your erstwhile political opponents and just saying what they want you to say as a Democrat Authority Figure. Not only do you get paid several hundred dollars for ten minutes a day, but you also get to be a part of trashing on all the people from your own party that didn't really support you that much when your fate was on the line and who have opportunities because of the trail you crashed and burned forging. Quite honestly, if I were in her position, I might be a slave to Rupert Murdoch, too*.

I totally wouldn't be. Ethics are pretty much my strong suit.

Probably at least part of that is statistical aberration.
