Well, I was thinking Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 3, 4 and 5 but its over 100 bucks for 5.
Bust a Move.
Shock Troopers 2
I'm a big fan of Bust a Move on NeoGeo but it's mostly nostalgia. They have one at this shitty mexican restaurant I used to frequent. In retrospect, I think I went there more for the NeoGeo than the food.
Thanks everyone. Owning an Arcade machine has always been a dream of mine but my mom would always say how are you going to get it here and where are you going to put it. Now I found someone to sell it too me cheap and drop it off for free.
CraigsList is anaemic in the UK, last time I checked.
I can't really afford market value price, I just think that he wouldn't know the actual value of it. It's like the only arcade machine they have, tucked away in the corner.
Nice! I've got a 6-slot standup at the office, didn't get nearly the deal you did though.
Personal favorites for the MVS, for me, are Samurai Shodown IV (Yes, IV. Shut up!), Last Blade 2 (Fantastic fighting game, if you've got anybody to play with), Blazing Star (Really excellent and very playable shmup), Pulstar (More frustrating but still great), and Magical Drop 3 (Twitchy but good puzzle game). Dig around on eBay and you can find pretty good deals on carts, be warned there are some counterfeits on there though.
Something else to remember is the harness on that cabinet is JAMMA, so you can plug any JAMMA-based motherboard into it. I've got a Sega Titan board and a copy of Radiant Silvergun I plug in sometimes so I can bask in its sheer awesomeness.
Yeah I understand the cab is Jamma compatiable but is it as easy as just putting a new mobo in and connecting the wires? How long does something like that take?
Also, for anyone ever wanting an arcade machine Neo Geo is the way to go because of the carts it takes. All you do is put a cart in out of their 135 games. So you are not stuck with just one game.
Yeah, it's really easy to swap boards. You might have to unscrew a few screws, but beyond that you've got like three plugs and you're done. If you don't have the board screwed down you can swap a Jamma board in under a minute, easy. When you get the machine take a look, you'll see what I mean.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves is the best fighting game on the Neo Geo.
Or, if you're actually not made of money, put in the Samurai Shodown cartridge of your choice. Every one of them was good, even III. You can't go wrong.
edit: holy zombie Jesus, the MVS cart of Mark Of The Wolves sells for like four hundred dollars. Although I guess there's a low-starting-bid auction up now for the cartridge alone. I'm gonna check in like three days and see how much it ended up going for. Still, damn. *hugs Dreamcast port*.
Generally arcade cartridges for the Neo-Geo (MVS, Multi-Video System) go much cheaper than their home system (AES, Advanced Entertainment System) equivilants. Metal Slug 1 goes for thousands for the home cart, or about £20 for an arcade cart.
There are exceptions, and high demand games like Garou are naturally extremely expensive. However, it also means you'll be able to play games like Kizuna Encounter legally - the arcade cart is fairly common, whereas I think less than half a dozen English home carts are known to exist.
Another good point worth mentioning is that all Neo-Geo carts are region-free, and with very few exceptions will show the correct language for your system. A Japanese-labelled cart will play in English on an English-language board.
Trivia time: the arcade and home carts are different because at the time, SNK didn't want arcade operators being able to buy the then-cheaper home carts.
I have a Capcom CPS2 cabinet. As it turns out, those games have batteries in them that, when they die, kill the game itself. No fun. The thing lives in my parents' garage now.

Ya, Thats pretty sweet for 300$ The arcade machine arena is really depressed with the current economy. I love my asteroids deluxe machine and still want more like a ms pacman cocktail machine. Don't let anyone else convince you to modify it. Also, yaton6262 sells some nice neogeo MVS carts. They aren't collector grade if you know what I mean.
I've snagged some MVS carts from him and they seem to work well enough for the price.

CPS2's can be revived. CPS2shock accepts original roms and essentially goes around this bullshit circumvention setup. Suiciding batteries really do stink when capcom stops officially supporting them. Back in the day, they didn't want bootleggers copying their boards, So they decided a battery backed encription key was needed. Meanwhile legitmate collectors get screwed years down the line since these batteries die taking that needed part with them.
One day, I'll have a Time Crisis machine. I dream, anyway.
Saw a Virtua Cop Machine sell for 1 dollar on ebay.
No, really guys start looking around. You can pick up arcade machines in the 200-300 dollar range now that arcades are dying.

A hotel near me has a neo-geo cabinet similar to that. It has some fighter jet shmup game on it that is fairly decent... though I don't remember what it was.
I've always wanted an arcade cabinet of the old Spider-Man and Avengers games.
...
Now that they're affordable, I just can't bring myself to spend the money to get one, because it seems so... DECADENT, y'know? Like, I should be eating nachos out of a hollowed out endangered tiger's skull and cracking open a bald eagle egg or three for an omelet I'll take a couple of bites out of and not finish before I start playing it.

Depends on what you paid.
Just two games?

Edit: I have a plan to ask the owner of a bar near me how much he would want for the F-zero AX machine they have that basically goes unused.
You should check CraigsList and the place I got mine from, www.neo-geo.com

Now gut it and put something decent inside there.

Doubly awesome for the Pin*Bot machine right next to it. Perhaps triply awesome.

If you don't have this game, you fail at Neo Geo (unless it's not on Neo Geo and I'm just being a senile young fool).
Man, I have no idea what you're talking about right now, but it's totally turning me on.
