Came about 2 seconds away from breaking my controller. Kicked my coffee table a few times, too. I'm pissed. Got to Medieval Madness in the Williams Challenge only to lose every single ball off a bad rebound into the outlane or down the middle. FUCKING ROBBED. I don't even know if I want to retry again today after that.
Edit: The irony of this situation is that while playing tables I didn't particularly enjoy, I had some great games. Then along comes one of my favorites, and it fucks me in the ass.
I got this about a month ago, and finally google searched to necro this thread.
I am playing MM almost exclusively now that I beat the challenge, and it never, ever gets old. The only thing I miss from the arcade version is the increasing/decreasing score requirements for a free game.
This really makes we want to go find a real machine of MM or Champion Pub or Whodunnit. Brings back so many memories from college.
Just thinking of a portable 3D version of fuckawesome pinball was enough to make me go "holy shit" at my screen. And then a moment later I thought "what if they included functionality like the AR cards, and allow you to look around the on-screen pinball table as you would while playing the real physical table?"
I wouldn't know how to describe something like that, assuming I could even do that after picking up my jaw from the floor.
Edit: Okay, so you all knew already a while ago, but that was only a possibility. At least now there's confirmation.
That's... that's not how pinball should work on a DS-like system, IMO. Or am I just spoiled by the Fuse games (Metroid Prime Pinball, Challenge of the Ancients)?

What's wrong with that, besides being used to pinball machines having the scoreboard on the backboard above the play field?
On DS pinball games that I like there are no camera movements. The entire table is covered by the dual screens, minus the "bridge" between the two that the hinge occupies. I don't see how that's possible if you're only using the top screen.
Now to be fair, the PHoF games have some incredibly solid cameras. But they also have the benefit of being played on screens larger than your average cell phone (meaning the phone itself, not the phone's screen).

Well I was saying how it would work on the 3DS with only one screen being in 3D. You also have to remember that the top screen is now wider than the bottom screen, so it won't match up like the screen sizes did on the DS. Besides this game looked great on a single PSP screen, so I'm sure it would look just fine on the upper 3DS screen with the scoreboard and stats on the lower screen.

Man, every time this gets bumped I pray there is some new news about another release. Especially a new release that gets licensed tables because the license holders get their heads out of their asses.

Just had my best run ever on Gorgar, finally taking the top spot on my copy's leaderboard with 559,520.
I love the hell out of Gorgar, and play it nearly every time I load up this game. Just a good, open playfield, a break from multiball and all the crazy shit you have to do in later Williams tables.
So disappointed that the Gottlieb Collection never materialized on XBLA, let alone any new collections. I have Gottlieb on PS2, but it's not the same if I can't climb the leaderboards.

Unfortunately, our best bet for classic pinball tables is probably for Zen Studios to get their hands on the licenses. Their success with the Marvel license has apparently opened the doors to other studios.
And here's someone playing it. Upside-down style has some interesting controls.
...
Still not enough to make me buy a 3DS. But I had to consider it.
And I don't see the point of upside-down mode, especially if you have to use the shoulder buttons. If the D-pad and A button work then maybe, but having the backboard actually on top is a minor bonus at best. Gyro-nudge seems like a poor idea (hopefully one that can be disabled), but that might just be me; I get enough accidental nudges using the nunchuk as it is.
Thread necro to commemorate my 54,404,490 on Whirlwind and 6,441,810 on Space Shuttle; both of these were on 3DS.
Which, by the way, is only 7 tables: the 10 from the Wii version minus Jive Time, Sorcerer, and Firepower.
On the plus side, upside-down mode works a treat. The Zen games make me use the L and R buttons, which is awkward on my hands even with my 3DS XL, but HoF uses D pad and A. I just wish it would save my camera settings; using the full view is a lot less demanding on my eyes with the 3D on.
EDIT: Aha! I can use the D-pad and buttons for the Zen games. It just has to specifically be the B button, not the A button. Fair enough.

Let me restore it a little more.
Nintendo just announced this game as an upcoming 3DS release.

I WILL NOT BE DOING 3DS FOR NWC THREAD. SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO TAKE OVER.

EDIT: Getting closer to a game that makes me want to buy the system, though.
I would imagine the top screen is the play-field and the bottom screen is the oldschool bitmap scoreboard.
What's wrong with that, besides being used to pinball machines having the scoreboard on the backboard above the play field?

Well, the 3DS version is coming out sometime this month. I think the 20th.
Here's the trailer from when it would have come out in May.

I saw this thread bumped and got to wondering about this again, when it was coming out.
I might wait for a price drop on it, unless it's already budget priced.

sigh
That could be what pushes me over the edge for a 3DS...
EDIT: and of course 5 seconds after I make the post I find it: Pinball Arcade.
Which, by the way, is only 7 tables: the 10 from the Wii version minus Jive Time, Sorcerer, and Firepower.
