Removing vomit stain from carpet

Long story short, had a bit too much to drink last night and threw up on the carpet. This morning I tried to clean it up, used soap and water and towel, that didn't really work, so I got out the bleach. It kind of worked, and faded the stain quite a bit, but still left a bit of the stain. Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing? Would more bleach be the best bet?

Hmmm... I just know that the longer it stays there, the more it sets in because of the acids. If bleach didn't work too well, then I'm not sure. Have you tried some "Resolve" and bleach mixture? That and several minutes to set might do something.

Just a warning, do NOT mix chlorinated cleaning products with acid, chlorinated gas is very dangerous.

Have you tried soaking the spot on carpet with water for a little while? Maybe that'll help loosed some of the stain?

Rent a Rug Doctor, grocery stores usually have them up front. They're something like $20 a day, plus cleaning fluid. Dumping cleaners on top and "soaking" them up with towels just grinds the stain further into the pad, you need something that will actually extract it.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestions guys. I've bassically bleached it to the point that theres just a white stain there, which is fine by me since its an old crappy cream carpet. I decided nows as good a time as any to put down the bamboo flooring I wanted. So I'm just gonna replace it in a couple weeks and for now it doesn't look like vomit.

Good to hear you got that sorted out! I came in here and was going to suggest a Rug Doctor, or even heading to the Rug Doctor section of your local grocery store, as they have special sprays/liquids for just this situation.
