In English:
"Shenmue is back!"
"Sega has rereleased classics like Nights,Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now it's said that Shenmue is next. But don't think that it's about a new game, instead, they're bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii."
What.
The.
Hell?

Someone change the title to "stupid rumor about shenmue that is only going to get people excited for no reason god dammit"
I gotta be the first to say it, Shenmue was not good.
It does have the biggest rose tinted goggles of any game, though.
I played through Shenmue for the first time less than two years ago. Shenmue II, less than a year ago. No rose-tinted anythings, I loved them to fucking death.
On a technical level, both Shenmue games would fit on a Wii disc right?
DC discs were 1gb, Wii discs 4.6gb iirc.
The games were on 3 discs right?
3 x 1gb x 2 = 6gb
Obviously they wouldn't have to have the doubled up stuff twice, and from memory a lot of stuff is doubled up, and more modern compression could help a lot too. So by my guess, it would just about fit on a Wii disc.

In theory.
Dreamcast GD-ROMs were 1.4 GB. Wii discs are standard DVDs, and so can go up to 8.5 GB. Shenmue was on three GD-ROMs, Shenmue II was on four. So, yes, it could fit easily.

I think Shenmue II was on four discs, but yeah. They'd both fit on a dual-layer disc, and that's not even counting the fact that there are lots of things mirrored between discs and shared between the two games, so the actual size is much less than what the games took up across 3-4 discs. And then compression and all that.
As long as I can use the Wii-wheel to drive my forklift, I'm sold.

I'd still take Shenmue I & II on Wii (with 480p and widescreen support). Didn't have DC or Xbox but enjoyed watching my pal play and getting an occasional turn. Hope it really happens.
Edit: Like LewieP's suggestions below and Wii wheel support for the forklift, too.
What ever helps raise money for Shenmue 3. Apparently this is the same mag that released the Nights on Wii awhile back, so who knows.

Not sure about 480p and widescreen, but Shenmue looked ridiculous on a DC VGA box. I hope they recreate & enhance that experience for today's HDTV owners.

SoA 2 and Shenmue 1+2 for whatever console of the day.
Never believe.

RE4 Wii Edition style controls could work too.

So, how about a game of Lucky Hit?

Dragon's Dogma: 192 Warrior Linty | 80 Strider Alicia | 32 Mage Terra
Are you saying you're against widescreen support and 480p?
I wouldn't mind improved graphics, myself. Neither game looks bad, but they're definitely Dreamcast games.
God no, I assumed that the DC version already did support Widescreen + 480p, if this isn't the case then add that to the list.
The DC version did 480p, as did most Dreamcast games, but widescreen TVs weren't exactly mainstream back in 2000.

They weren't mainstream in 1996 either:
Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei - In 16:9 Widescreen
You should have made that a standard feature in games from that point on, Sega!
Face it guys, it's not coming out. We're not getting a resolution to the story. The dream is over.
(If they do release this, though, I'll finally buy a Wii and as many copies of this as I can. If it helps them make a sequel.)
(But they're not.)

Man......
Actually, it ends with Ryu killing Lang Di, then Tommy Vercetti pops out of nowhere, revealing he was behind it all along. This leads into the sequel:
Grand Theft Auto: Tokyo
That would actually be kind of kick ass if they had a GTA in Tokyo.
Just think about all the panties you could buy in the vending machines then putting them on people's heads. Or using them as bait.
Well Shenmue spiritual successor was the Yakuza series...
