Yeah, although maybe it's bad luck on my part, but I've only pulled two fatalities off but they've been the same animation. But in no way am I complaining; it's very damn cool.
And yeah, no gaming for me tonight... I had already moved around my schedule to try and play tonight but forget midnight... it's just as well, my friends are pissed I'm as high as I am already.
So how much armor is there? Is there a bunch of clones running around or can you actually look somewhat like an individual?
I've seen plenty of variety. There's a lot of variety of drops on the way to Tortage. But, that said, the best gear are really the quest rewards and some of the armor pieces on the legs, head, and chest are common. Other than that, people seem to go for their own look. You can also turn off the helm, which I do, because the hair in this game is actually cool looking.
I'm rolling wherever CripTonic and his cronies are going. Probably some PvP server. Hopefully the same one most of the PA mooks are rolling on. I need someone real girthy to make jokes about while I slaughter wenches and sleep with monsters. Or however Conan works.
God you're bad.
Also, rolling on an EA server tomorrow will be suicidal. Do not recommend. We can re-roll PvE with all the PA nubs seeing as all the PvP endgame is identical regardless of server type.
Will there be any sort of trial available at launch, hopefully one you can buy in a store (Downloading issues in Australia because it's soo big)?
I haven't heard of anything, and all of the MMOs I know with the cheap trial discs have been around for awhile. But you can get a buddy code, which will allow you to play for a few days.

I gotta say, I didn't put much faith into this game a few months ago (and with good reason from what I've read) but now I'm pretty psyched for it. I hope I enjoy it.

The EA members from BI maybe could help out anyone that rolls on StormRage tomorrow. Help prevent those guys from getting ganked as much. Plus a roving BI squad is always fun.
Later on once PvP balances out and I actually know what I'm doing, I'll probably roll an Assassin and I will strike fear into the hearts of men! And then I will strike daggers into the hearts of men!
I am interested in hearing how this performs now on the lower end of the hardware spectrum. In "beta", it was miserable... but since everyone seems to have increased performance with release, I'm curious if this is true for the shitty machines, as well.

i have a fairly shitty machine, soon to be a beast of a machine, but on medium with some lowering adjustments i'm averaging about 25-30fps. notice some stuttering when i turn quickly in some areas.

does anyone have any experience with bear shaman? i'm looking at their feats right now and they look really excellent.

My Bear Shaman is 32 right now and he's great. They start out pretty frustrating but get a lot better around 20. Just keep your heals ticking on yourself and use your moves that are on cooldown before you think you need to (especially in pvp).
You know, I'm really not looking forward to the actual launch of AoC, since not only will the servers all get maxed out and lagtastic, but the very friendly, (semi) mature and entertaining vibe of the PvE server I'm on (Wiccania, the "unofficial RP-PvE server, since I'm that pretentious) may descend into the level of soul-crushing annoyance that is, say, Barrens Chat.
In other words, I shall now adjust my monocle and top hat whilst urging Funcom to keep the non-EA riffraff out of the nice, clean servers. Harrumph!

I really don't know which class I want to play. I know I want to roll a priest, but they all sound so damn cool. Anyone playing a Priest of Mitra?
That was my highest char during closed beta. Very fun class.
Not quite as damage-focused as the Tempest of Set. There is a feat you can get that makes it so one of your heal-over-time spells self-activates every time you are hit in melee.
*Is interested in a buddy code should some kind soul find themselves feeling generous*
Also, to those asking about the lower end, I found myself able to play the stress test fairly well [Ok when it wasn't crashing because of lolstresstest] on low-med settings with an x700 pro, p4 3ghz, and 1gig ram. I'm upgrading soon, but for now it seems to get by.
Also, to those who are currently playing, a couple questions.
1. Do you see this game lasting, or trickling down as many people return to WoW?
2. How's PvP? [Compared to WoW-more fun or less fun]
3. Are the zones past 20 open ala WoW or EQ2, or are they instanced such as Tortage?
1. Hard to say whether it will last. I would say so because I am enthralled with it right now. It's combat is a breath of fresh air, the game itself is absolutely beautiful, and there is actually a compelling storyline that I want to follow and listen to, with quests worth listening to the dialog. So I really hope it doesn't flop. I hate to bring it up, but Funcom has a bad track record.
2. PVP is hilarious. I haven't been in any sieges yet, but I play on an RP-PVP server and some of the situations just crack me up. You'll be running around in an area and you'll see a red-tagged person running towards you. Instantly, you think "Named NPC! Get em!" only to find out that its a player wearing the same kind of armor the NPC's in the area are. It's a lot of fun, too, though I haven't gotten too in depth with the PVP action.
3. All zones are instanced. There are multiple instances of each zone you can switch between (greatly helps in stopping spawn ganking and reducing waiting for a quest mob to spawn). The lack of openness bothered me at first, but I got over it quickly. I think I've grown to like this system a lot more, though it did take some getting used to at first. Did I mention all the areas are absolutely stunningly beautiful? Cuz they are.
Also, I have a buddy key as well now. And I'm down with passing as many around as Funcom graciously allows me.

Vanguard and SWG are Sony....
Funcom did The Longest Journey, couple other adventure games and Anarchy Online.

Hm, I really hope it lasts as well. It seems to be more unique then the others and indeed looks like a breath of fresh air when compared to WoW and all its clones....though in a way, that could definitely be a downside to it. So many people seem to hate innovation
And I can't wait to get a buddy key :V Hopefully Funcom allows you to graciously hand out many :P
Zombiemambo: That pre-order code was the Early Access key. You still need to use the one on the back of your manual.
According to the guest pass business, you need to go register.ageofconan.com and it'll be there on your account page along with instructions on how to use this together with a friend. However, either its not up yet or I'm blind and cannot find it on my account page. Both are distinct possibilities.
I'm not sure how many uses you have. I'd imagine it replenishes after some time, however.
So I'm retracting my previous concerns about PvP servers, based on a couple things I hadn't given much thought. Even in its current state of no grief-protection system, there are mechanics in place to avoid assholes.
1. Multiple spawn points. As has been stated, this isn't like WoW. When you die you don't automatically go to the nearest graveyard, but you can choose from all of the one's in the zone you have discovered. Discovering consists of getting within 5-10 feet, and there's an onscreen message. I also believe they're all on the map regardless, someone might want to correct me on that though.
2. Multiple zone instances. You can switch at any time to a different instance of the zone. As far as I know there are always two instances, and there are more depending on population.
3. Everyone has stealth. This is probably the most important one, though I completely ignored it because I still don't have it on my main (You get it at Level 18). Some may cry foul at this, but it's not the same as stealth for Rogue classes. Non-Rogue's have their stamina drained quickly when moving while in stealth. For those unfamiliar with the game mechanics, once you run out of stamina whatever action was draining it ends (unstealthed) and you become more vulnerable to damage and knockdown effects. The same is true for sprinting. This makes it almost exclusively a hiding tool. If you keep an eye on your surroundings, it's pretty easy to see people coming about 150 yards away and stealth out.
So bottom line, if you're really getting reamed out there on a PvP server there are plenty of ways to get out of the situation. The only time it will really be bad is if you're trying to do a specific quest, and somebody is making that impossible. This is pretty common to non-FFA games though, like World of Warcraft, and most people should be used to it.

The 1-20 zone is completely isolated from higher level players, ganking won't be a problem at least up until you graduate. And there will be plenty of guildies to roll with for protection. Roll on Stormrage with the rest of the big boys.

Well where do I go? When I go to create a new sub it says I need a key, which I have, but it apparently doesn't care.
Right below Purchase Early Access Key and above Create a New Subsciption, the option has the obscenely long titled "Use a Key to add a Prepaid Card, Upgrade a Subscription, Sell your Soul, or Create a Subscription."
From there, you should have a screen with a blank bar you can enter your key into. This is all after you've logged into your account, of course.

Basically, it's going to be hell getting a copy where I'm at, and I'm looking for a way for digital purchase.
I've seen no mention anywhere about a digital purchase model.
