So - we've all seen the EPeen threads here containing pages and pages of awesome stuff that make us ashamed of our tiny 32" LCD screen with no exteral speakers. What I'd like to see instead is what are the few items in your collection that really make it special? What do you have that instantly starts conversations when folks visit?
For me, it's my recent acquisitions for my Atari 2600. I have a small (to me, large to the wife) collection of about 100 games for my Atari, but recently thanks to a great trade I managed to start getting into homebrew titles - recent releases made by hobbyists which rival the quality of any commerical titles. I show them off to everybody and they are always amazed that people are still releasing Atari games.
Here's what I have so far:
Group shot with my system:
And a few highlights...
Gingerbread Man and Wolfenstein VCS (I LOVE the artwork on these!)
My two (limited edition/numbered) Christmas Carts
And finally Melbourne Tatty - not my favorite game (that honor goes to Toyshop Trouble), but the materials included with punchout figures are just nifty
So what are the gems of your collections?

Also, a ~50 stack of NES games with some fairly rare titles.

But honestly, the true gem of my collection is the beat-to-shit, dog-chewed, moth-eaten, baby-drooled-upon copy of The Bard's Tale for Apple IIc. Sucker still works, and I pull it out to play every so often to relive the glory days...
These, I consider gold:
The very last Saturn game ever released in the US, Magic Knight Rayearth, and a very rare Sonic Team platformer on the left, Burning Rangers.
I'm proud of these, though: Original boxes from when they were first released.
@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
I've got like 30 PS2 titles and 6 for PS3, but I guess what makes it special is they're all games that I really love, and wouldn't want to have missing from my collection.
I wish I'd kept all my old SNES stuff ... >.<
Starwing Competition cart SNES
Snatcher Mega CD
Metal Gear Solid Gamecube console
Border Down Limited Edition
Radient Silvergun
Ltd Zelda Silver Ds console
Rez PAL Dreamcast
Just off the top of my head.

Dude, you won an award for BioShock. Don't be so coy.

Edit:
This is me receiving the "Holy Shit will you just look at that Eyes of Jesus Award" on behalf of the rest of my team at 2k Games at the Way of the Rodent Awards.
Also my 30-something 2600 collection. Which is abnormal, given I'm perhaps half the age of the 2600. Wait, just did the math, I was half its age last year. Now I'm one year off. Point is, it's way before my time.
I've also got a Game Gear and NGPC lying around, and wish I still had my Gameboy Pocket.
and I have a few games for it.
Apologies for poor quality photos, they're all I have.
Decide on the next line by the rhyme when I choose it.
Also I put songs on YouTube
The musings of this lonely rube.
I made a thread once. It didn't end well for me.
Oh and I've got a Famulator, a GCN freeloader and a "modded" (if you call modding the act of ripping out two plastic bits) SNES so I can play them all.
The only thing really special with that 4th one, FFTA2, is that I got it on launch day in Japan by pure coincidence, so that's cool to me.

What is this game? I just can't place it...
I think it's called Kurururururururin.
All is not lost though, I still have the entire Rare team's sigs
Yeah yeah I know I've shown it more than once.
I also managed to grab Guardian Heroes, Burning Rangers and Panzer Dragoon Saga.

I should add I'm VERY VERY jealous of the folks with Saturn collections - I only got to play the console once or twice in my life and loved it. I always wanted to try Burning Rangers. I would be fearful of my life if I tried to bring another console into the house though - and I'm really trying to focus on finishing my Atari collection off (to the point that I have all the good, non-incredibly-rare titles) and then starting more on the homebrew side of things.
That's it, really.
Oh, also a Zelda heart meter shirt, a FFCC shirt (ironic, since I disliked FFCC), and I used to have an Ocarina of Time shirt 7 years or so ago but lost track of it. Pity, it had a badass picture of adult Link aiming his bow at onlookers.
I should probably also mention that I somehow ended up with two copies of SMB1 alone, two copies of SMB1/Duck Hunt, one copy of Duck Hunt alone, and two copies of Rad Racer without actually buying any of those.
the coolest thing i have is my saturn, and a copy of guardian heroes.
Indeed.
Nice. I only managed to get GH in japanese on eBay, english version was way too expensive.
