What makes your collection special?

So - we've all seen the EPeen threads here containing pages and pages of awesome stuff that make us ashamed of our tiny 32" LCD screen with no exteral speakers. What I'd like to see instead is what are the few items in your collection that really make it special? What do you have that instantly starts conversations when folks visit?

For me, it's my recent acquisitions for my Atari 2600. I have a small (to me, large to the wife) collection of about 100 games for my Atari, but recently thanks to a great trade I managed to start getting into homebrew titles - recent releases made by hobbyists which rival the quality of any commerical titles. I show them off to everybody and they are always amazed that people are still releasing Atari games.

Here's what I have so far:

Group shot with my system:

And a few highlights...
Gingerbread Man and Wolfenstein VCS (I LOVE the artwork on these!)
IMG_1514_0716.jpg

My two (limited edition/numbered) Christmas Carts
IMG_1516_0724.jpg

And finally Melbourne Tatty - not my favorite game (that honor goes to Toyshop Trouble), but the materials included with punchout figures are just nifty

So what are the gems of your collections?

Nothing too special, and I'm sure not what the OP had in mind, but Racing Gears Advance is pretty bitchin, and I don't think too many people have that. It's a shame, really.

I have an unopened, still in original packaging Ultima 2.

But honestly, the true gem of my collection is the beat-to-shit, dog-chewed, moth-eaten, baby-drooled-upon copy of The Bard's Tale for Apple IIc. Sucker still works, and I pull it out to play every so often to relive the glory days...

My collection is very large, but not especially rare. Many of the rarer games I own are either greatest hits versions or part of compilations.

    I'm proud of these, though:

I used to have an developer edition (I think) of Goldeneye for the N64 with levels and multiplayer characters I have never seen anywhere else, not even as characters you could unlock with the gamegear. However I got jealous of those perfect stats in all the singleplayer missions and all the unlockables that profile had so I deleted it and made my one, still the dumbest thing I ever did in my opinion. Otherwise I only have a couple of special editions of games and stuff you get with them.

Nothing, really. If my epeen is to be judged by my video game collection alone then it is tiny and flaccid - the victim of cold water shrinkage and cruel insubstantial genes.

I've got like 30 PS2 titles and 6 for PS3, but I guess what makes it special is they're all games that I really love, and wouldn't want to have missing from my collection.

I wish I'd kept all my old SNES stuff ... >.<

Hmm...I suppose what really separates my collection from most is my GP2X.

Also my 30-something 2600 collection. Which is abnormal, given I'm perhaps half the age of the 2600. Wait, just did the math, I was half its age last year. Now I'm one year off. Point is, it's way before my time.

I've also got a Game Gear and NGPC lying around, and wish I still had my Gameboy Pocket.

Oh and I've got a Famulator, a GCN freeloader and a "modded" (if you call modding the act of ripping out two plastic bits) SNES so I can play them all.

    coll3.jpg

The only thing really special with that 4th one, FFTA2, is that I got it on launch day in Japan by pure coincidence, so that's cool to me.

I used to have a pretty decent Saturn & PS2 import collection until I decided that I wasn't using it anymore and sold it. Some of the highlights were Shin Megami Tensei: Soul Hackers, Chinese language editions (my second language) of both Siren 2 and Sakura Taisen remake, and Summon Night 3 (quite possibly the best Strategy/RPG ever IMO).

Kururin Squash. It's a game where you control some rotating ship around, and you must not hit the walls or obstacles. You can control the spin and direction of the rotation, and it has awesome multiplayer.

One of my all time favourites went missing the last time I moved house. A signed copy of Metal Gear Solid with Hideo Kojima's signature.

All is not lost though, I still have the entire Rare team's sigs

Yeah yeah I know I've shown it more than once.

I also managed to grab Guardian Heroes, Burning Rangers and Panzer Dragoon Saga.

That's really awesome - so many signatures! I actually hadn't seen it before.

I should add I'm VERY VERY jealous of the folks with Saturn collections - I only got to play the console once or twice in my life and loved it. I always wanted to try Burning Rangers. I would be fearful of my life if I tried to bring another console into the house though - and I'm really trying to focus on finishing my Atari collection off (to the point that I have all the good, non-incredibly-rare titles) and then starting more on the homebrew side of things.

I've got the Pokemon Pearl and Phantom Hourglass styli, the Crisis Core UMD case, and three of nine Tales of Symphonia cards given away in a Nintendo contest I didn't enter. Only 100 people won, but figures I ended up with one of Colette instead of Kratos or Zelos. The other two are of Raine and Regal.

    That's it, really.

Oh, also a Zelda heart meter shirt, a FFCC shirt (ironic, since I disliked FFCC), and I used to have an Ocarina of Time shirt 7 years or so ago but lost track of it. Pity, it had a badass picture of adult Link aiming his bow at onlookers.
