I wonder if limbs removed by giving corpses the old Mike Haggar Stomp actually count towards...
...any of the related achievements. I got Marksman during a regularly scheduled thumping session, but that may have just been the nefarious "achievement lag" that seems to crop up every now and then, since I had just killed one of those scythe-armed dudes with the church slacks a few moments beforehand.
I find myself stomping on every corpse that I come across. I can't be the only one.
I stomp every corpse I find and every corpse I make. I feel the best way to make sure they're dead is the crush their heads with my boots.
I stomp the hell out of everything I kill, but mostly because it's very cathartic.
MOTHER *stomp* FUCKER! *stomp*
A thousand times this
That too. It certainly helps alleviate some of the fear when you can curb stomp the thing that just scared the hell out of you.
Also, has anyone successfully killed an enemy with only melee? I believe there's an achievement for killing some number of enemies with melee only.
I've tried, but it seems like it takes a lot of hits. I've finished off almost-dead enemies that get too close, but I think you have to stasis them to have a chance at full health, especially since they sometimes block your attacks with their claws

Can you actually hurt them when they're in stasis? I remember feezing a slasher and blasting him with the cutter a few times, then he woke up and ran me down like nothing happened

Of course! They just react slowly. It's very useful for strategic dismemberment for faster necromorphs. You probably just didn't hurt it enough to kill it.
So I got 1000/1000 at the shooting range on the military ship, but didn't get the trophy for it. Anyone else have this problem? Or is that not the shooting range where you get the trophy?
Also: Holy fuck, leaping from that ship in zero G as explosions go off behind me, panning the camera around, all this shit floating through the air. Brilliant. This game has some real, real incredible moments.

EDIT: PAUSING DOESN'T AFFECT YOUR TIME, WHOO-HOO.
There was about thirty minutes between my saves, 20 or so of which were paused, and my time only moved ten minutes on the save screen.
That's nice. I hate it when games don't stop the clock because I often pause and leave it alone for hours at a time. This way it's a more accurate measure of how much you're played.
So lets say I like RE games but HATE HATE RE:4 and also like fps style games in this genre like Condemned. Am I correct to assume I will still like this? (my main beef with RE:4 is it doesn't feel like RE and because the title is RE I can't enjoy it as much because its such a departure from what I wanted out of RE games)
So... I really want to get back to this but the children are up, and I won't be that dad. In the meantime, I'm pondering my decision to upgrade my RIG so early. Should I have bought something else with my Chapter 1 credits, do you think?

Are you using one of the DLC suits? If so, I'd say focus on weapons for just a little while.
If you aren't, upgrade your air and health ASAP.
Also: The game is trying to take my precious cutter away. But I didn't get this Class H for nothin', goddamnit!

Nah, upgrading the rig is a good idea. You can never have too much health or air.
You can upgrade the weapons later when you get a feel for which ones you're using the most.
What I mean is that I have a RIG Lvl 2 now, but I'm also putting nodes towards health and air. I think I remember something in the description of the upgraded RIG that said it was more armored. Was that true?
Also, I haven't downloaded any RIGs. I want to play the game as intended my first time through.

Then yeah, upgrade the shit out of the HP and Air supplies.
I am not sure about the lore, but at least from a gameplay perspective, the RIG is totally separate from the armor suits you wear. I always thought they were separate things, seeing how people have RIGs who have basically no armor on. If you upgrade your suit, the RIG still keeps whatever upgrades you have for it.
So guys, in chapter 6. This is a big HOLY SHIT thing. And don't click it, spoilers.
When you're in the zero G area, right after being grabbed by the tentacle again, before going into the actual zero G, there's a little "THIS IS A ZERO G AREA!" caution sign with stuff scribbled on it. IT'S A TRANSLATION GUIDE FOR THE ALIEN SYMBOLS.
I was totally going to get this game on the 14th, and got my girl to check in at EB Games to see if they had a copy, but it turns out that the PC version isn't coming out until the 21st. Damnit, on the same day I pick up Far Cry 2 and LBP. Just a week before Fallout 3. I hate that shit. Now I'll never get to play it.

Oh. You're one of those.
Yea yea blah blah blah better controls, not a remote control character, blah blah. I'm not here for that. I just wanna know if the game is fun and is enough different from RE:4 to make it not feel like RE:4 in space. Strafe makes it look more promising.
Don't open spoiler unless you're past chapter 7!!!!
I'm stuck in chapter 6 or 7. I need to destroy the tethers so I can release the asteroid with the beacon. I destroyed the first two tethers inside the chamber, but I have no idea how to get to the second two.

HELP PLEASE!
You have to jump on the asteroid and run to the other side while not getting smashed by those ring things

I'll be all over this game very soon. (or maybe it'll be all over me)D::winky:

Nope, no multiplayer. Single player only. Thought it seems to have plenty of motivation for multiple playthroughs.
I just completed Chapter 5. It's still fantastic.
I'm also among those that stomp nearly every corpse. The stomp is among the most satisfying I've seen in a game.

Multiple miners running around, trying to clear the rooms of wave after wave of AI controlled Necromorphs? Like Gears 2's Horde mode but nastier.

I'm almost halfway through and I use the basic cutter the most. They're flooding me with Ripper and Line ammo right now, so I'm sticking with those.
Don't bother with the Pulse Rifle, it's only good when swarmed, and even then, there are other options.

The new thread is up. This time, there's an OP, and everything.
Look at me go.
