Laptop battery won't charge.

Just like the thread title says, my laptop battery won't charge. I can still run the laptop on AC power, and when the battery had a charge it could run off that, but if I want to move rooms or something, it now involved a shutdown and reboot.

Any ideas?

How old is the battery? Batteries consistently lose capacity over time and eventually won't be able to power the item. Best case loss is about 20% a year, but it can be worse than that depending on the temperature its stored at and how often its charged/discharged.

I was kind of thinking it might just be a dead battery. It's probably at least 3 years old.
