I've got a Gaggia espresso machine, and I love it. Don't know how much it cost, as it was a gift, but I would guess around $300. I think 150 may be on the low end though. I'd advise dropping a little more coin in order to get a durable, well made one that will last you awhile. You'll also most likely want a good grinder. Again, I'd recommend Gaggia based on personal experience.
I've heard good things about Miele too. If possible, I'd suggest getting a stove-top espresso maker in the interim and saving up to afford a good machine.
Clean whatever you buy frequently - it will last you much longer that way.
