Oh hey, most of us at least have heard about the nineties tv show,
Beverly Hills, 90210, right? Some of you kids may be too young to remember the show, and I bet that just leaves an empty hole in the pit of your soul, huh.
Well fret no more, young one, because the CW, the network that brought you such hits as Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, and Smallville, are remaking the series. Yay?
Here is the preview clip:

It kinda looks like a more realistic version of The Hills.
Watching the trailer, two thoughts were foremost in my mind:
1) goddamn kid, how do you go from the sheer perfection of The Wire to the complete and utter crap that this show is bound to be?
2) man, aunt becky still looks smoking hot.
So with this and the return of american gladiator and a bajillion other remakes lately, what other shows will get the hip, updating treatment?
I am holding out hope for a Parker Lewis Can't Lose remake, maybe a remake of Adventures of Pete and Pete, who knows.

Also, they remake this and not Saved By the Bell? Fuck you, hollywood.
What did I ever do to you, TV? Why must you cancel my shows?
my head, it is spinning
Fuck...
apparently people in "the industry" think that twenty years is the magic number for capitalizing on nostalgia

sweet, i wait with bated breath for the Dawson's Creek remake in a few years
By intentionally ruining it so that no one will ever think fondly on that zip code again.
They may be on to something.

It's cheap and hilarious.

I got all my best moves from Luke Perry, I thought you knew that.
On the topic of Pete and Pete- It doesn't need a remake. I don't think you could get the chemistry and the feeling right. It needs a Criterion DVD release, that is what it needs. The musics alone warrants this. That was probably the best show that Nickelodeon had that wasn't Ren and Stempy.

The producers of this show apparently hope that they're going to capitalize on kids in the 13-17 range and adults who watched the show the first time.
This is why I watch less and less TV as time goes by.
Why?
I've got a crowbar, half a can of spraypaint and some yarn. Chose your destiny.
now if you'll excuse me I'll go back to watching Battlestar Galactica 2003 The Re-imaged Series
Wait, arn't you currently in the middle of a "aggressive conflict zone" right now?
Just shoot anyone that gives you sass for watching.

Saved By the Bell was in no way good.
There. I said it.
Dude, seriously, I LOVED this show as a kid. I don't want to hear no disrespect.

And get the guy who created it to do this.
Wait, that might mean this won't suck after all. Gah, conflicting rage and desire to see Rob Thomas's work hurt my head.
endless "reality" competition shows (Big Brother, Amazing Race, Fear Factor, The Bachelor, Biggest Loser et al.)
or
endless "teen" drama shows - (The O.C., The Hills, Laguna Beach, Veronica Mars and all the other crap including this new show.)
Which is worse?
Also - Is it 20 years since "The Wonder Years" went off air? I shudder to think who would replace Fred Savage, could they do any worse (he directed Daddy Day Camp remember)? What about "Alf"? Or The Golden Girls?
I mean 'Just got more sexy. More provocative. More...' etc was almost satire.
I never saw the original series (Im not even sure it aired in the UK). Was it good. Is there backlash against this because it is butchering a decent series or just because we are sick of remakes. I assume the latter.
They already did a sequel. It was essentially a remake with different names on most of the characters. It was even worse than the original.
Hell yeah that is
