Quick Help. Car being salvaged for cash and will be picked up soon.
Alright so the transmission went out on a beater car I have had sitting about for a while now and i've decided to salvage the car. The salvage yard will be picking up the vehicle for free and quoted a payment of about 300 dollars for the car. I've never salvaged a car before but my question is when will I be paid for it? Will the employee who picks up the vehicle and receives the title make payment to me and end the whole thing or will I have to head out to their offices?
My big concern is that I will be unable to make it to their location before they close if the latter case is true. I really would hate to get screwed over somehow. If anyone has ever done this please let me know how your ordeal was.

My friend had to go to the salvage yard to get it. YMMV, but you may luck out and he has a $300 check waiting for you when he picks it up.
Did you get a signed copy of what your quote would be?

No signed copy. The guy is coming out here now to check it out and tow it but 300 was the rough estimate. I will at least be sure to get a signed copy of something indicating the intent to pay if I don't end up getting anything up front.
It's just a situation for me because I won't have a ride until after they close most likely.

Sounds like they're towing it back to their place to get a better estimate of it. Definitely make sure to get some sort of paperwork, but in all likelihood, you're going to have to go there. Is it close enough for a bike ride by any chance? Maybe the tow will take you with him? Just some ideas.
Well my paranoia was for nothing and I guess I got lucky. Exchanged the title, received the check, and the car was pulled to the yard. Mods can close this. Thanks H/A
