Apparently Now an NISA Press Release Thread? Holy Invasion of Tokyo, Badman!
Posts
No.
I will not buy this.
I am not buying the same game for the third time in a row.
Sadly I do not mean to say that I bought the PSP one. I've bought the PS2 version twice
portable systems are my preferred platform for strategy rpgs.
I have never played Disgaea, but I would like to start
I CAN ONLY PLAY CRISIS CORE FOR SO LONG.
Then if you have a DS, pick up TWEWY.
NIS, you made an extraordinary game once, now get back to making more. Port-itis is leaving a really bitter taste in people's mouths (as is the PS3 jump).
...
Uh...
I feel like I should hit you with a bat or something.
Or most SRPGs for that matter.... But I've heard a metric fuckton about this game in its previous iterations. I'm stoked and will definitely pick this up.
What should I expect?
It increases the chances we'll see a port of Disgaea 3 on a sub-$Texas system.
And yes I am buying this because I do not own a PSP and touchscreen controls on an SRPG = win.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
-One new character playable. Whoop-de-do.
-New opening movie. See above
-Cameo characters. Unless these are brand brand new, these were in the PSP port as well. Neat, but pretty underwhelming.
-New Multiplayer modes. Rendered moot as I will never find another person near me with the game willing to play.
-Prinny commentary. Sounds cool, dood.
Think I'll pass. I already own the PSP version, so there's nothing worth paying a 30-40 dollar price yet again. Great for people who don't already have the game though.
I'm loving the PSP one, mostly due to the widescreen and the pick up & play aspect. The things that were "fixed" in Disgaea 2 aren't being added in, so it's just adding a couple sprites with set stats, and the Prinny commentary actually has me worried -- it likely means they don't have enough space for all of the voice acting, and are dropping it (and adding in some Prinny commentary).
edited to add: and damn, those screens are UGLY.
Like I need more games.
Steam ID : rwb36, Twitter : Werezompire,
I never managed to play Disgaea but people rave about it, so I'm interested in this and want a new DS game.
Also here is a bat, go to town, that was a pretty stupid thing to say.
How can you tell? They're the size of postage stamps... And I think when you click to enlarge, they actually shrink.
Anyway, I am really happy for this!
The Capcom style testing of the userbase is not very cool.
Heres what I'm going to do. If the only new developments on the table in Japan when these hits the states are still on Sony platforms, I wont buy any of their DS games. An original DS or Wii RPG announcement and I'll make purchases at retail the following day, right down to Puchi Puchi Virus.
You need a bat too mate.
Hint. Do you own Disgaea on any system?
Then this port isn't directed at you. Your purchase won't change any statistic gathering they do in any signifcant way. Direct attention elsewhere, apply motivation gained through rage to something useful.
Or at least don't sound so bloody self important when you vent. :P You talk like your purchase would swing further development on the DS man.
I already bought Disgaea twice, and that's enough.
I'm also of the opinion that this port is going to look awful compared to the PSP one(flawless).
No. If the statistics discounts people who already own the game on another system, as it should for a new market, your choice either way never gets taken into account other than "hey, that's a nice surprise".
NI likes to hang out with Sony. Sony has treated them well in the past, so they stick to those systems. Sure they are branching out for some quick cash in ports on the DS, but so what? You get a couple of titles from years past, except portable with a few new features. Plus now there is a chance for people who missed them the first time because of rarity or console choice to have another bite at the apple.
Maybe they'll decide to do something original on the Wii/DS, but I really doubt it. I'd be plenty happy if this lead to La Pucelle on the DS though, as I'd love to have an uncensored version of that brought over to the states.

Marl=Rhapsody
DS=Nintendo DS.
Dream on, Nintendo boy. My 8-year-old PS2 and I are laughing at you while engaging in some fantastic, slow, unreadable Japanese turn-based glory.
I had the JPN release at one point, I think I sold it to some nerd who had just caught the N1 bug from beating Disgaea for big bucks though.
I also sold the Mastiff Version for more than I paid for it.
You were the guy in leather pants that ripped me off! We meet again, for the first time for the last time.
N1 still has yet to show what that action game they have for the DS is so there might be some hope for a new IP of sorts. I'm not sure if they have any action games they could port. I know they're mostly a Sony hardware focused group so I kind of doubt it but hey who knows.
By news I mean US release.
And I didn't mind the Mastiff La Pucelle that much. The voice work was quality, and it's far, far better than not getting the game at all.
I mean, level 9999 like how many times? The PSP edition will last me.
Yeah, but other than the fact that it exists and a few screenshots we know nothing about it.
