If you are referring to Laharl and Etna they are in the manual which I didn't expect so if there is nothing more major than that I'll go ahead and boot it up.

It regards Flonne actually(they show her in the intro along with Laharl anyway).
She has a decidedly different look now.

Why do we always beat you to the news from your own company, Houk?
I really am super interested in how that battle system really works. Appears to be some sexy VP action combined with swing gauges, which Gladius taught me can suck you in and never let go.
The combat in AT2 is totally reworked. Still four people, but two 'combat' characters and two revyateils. The revys can both sing and harmonize with eachother for massive mcbighuge attacks. The turn system is also changed. You just alternate with the enemy, but the enemies specifically go after the revys and you have to press the buttons as the attacks hit (there's a swing meter) to guard them/reduce the damage depending on how close you are to perfect.
For posts regarding information of the game. HEROTICISM will be used as my PLAY BLOG when Disgaea 3 : Absence of Justice comes out in the United States. Until then, you might see a random prinny or two wandering around here or there.
Yes, that's right. Doublejump saw his blog and hired him to be a blogger for their magazine. Awesome++;.
I really enjoyed Mana Khemia. It's a bit harder than Ar Tonelico and Atelier Iris 3 (though still not what I'd classify as anything approaching 'difficult'). The plot is kind of (very. very very. extremely.) weak, but the gameplay made up for it, I thought. I liked all the characters, too, which is incredibly rare for me.
Could someone tell me more about the Atelier Iris games? I saw a video review for 3, and it looked interesting enough. I have some Goozex points to blow.
Really, I am looking for a good Atlus/NIS published game that isn't Shin Megami Tensei or an SRPG. Bad characters are usually a deal breaker for me.

Hopefully we can get an over 9000! joke. Maybe in the battle system tutorial or something.
Dear God, am I seriously considering buying a PS3 for this one game?
What the hell is wrong with me?
there are some other pretty cool games too, i heard
Lies.
It's Disgaea 3 and maybe SMT4, if that's the route they go down. :P
I got a PS3 just so I could play my import P4. I'm also waiting for Valkyria Chronicles, but that doesn't change the fact that the first game I played on my PS3 is a PS2 game...

Wait, the PS3 automagically ignores PS2 regions?
Man, I really need to figure out if I want to dig up a 20GB or just settle for the bass ackwards BC in the newer PS3s...

It doesn't. You still need a Japanese PS2/PS3. Or one of the various ways to mod a console.
I just wanted to post here to say that if Ar Tonelico 2 comes out before a certain other piece of software, I may have to put some caps in certain bitches.

SpaceDrake, as much as I want Lise (or any other "real" Atelier game or that matter but even if one of the old PS2 ones made it out in America it would probably never make it to Europe), it's become quite clear that it's not happening and the healthiest thing for you to do would probably be to get over it. Even if there is still a chance, I'd imagine (judging from things Houk has said in the past) that they wouldn't even start work on it until they get back figures on Disgaea DS.
I'm as hyped as all fuck for it. But all I got is the trailers to go on.
Let's see....skills into the thousands?
Geocubes? Comeon, cubes man.
Giant fucking stacks of people whipping around destroying the landscape. Woooyeah.
I want this game so much.
Wait, thousands? Does that mean there are skills that go up that high? That there's a point to getting Sword Skill levels past getting Winged Slayer and Dimension Slash? That there will actually be enough magic AOE templates to fill the entire list?
In other news, I'm buying a PS3 this week to play Disgaea 3 on.
So, used 20GB, used 60GB, or just walk down to the store and buy a new one? Honestly, I'd like to keep playing my PS2 games and entertainment center space at home is a premium, but...

Hm?
Welp, from one of the previews I read, they said they played a beta party or something of characters in their thousands and when they levelled they were still getting new world smashing skills. So new stuff doesn't stop at 100 by the look of it.
I have no idea where I found that preview it was ages ago, but the same one also said the devs wanted to have "millions" of hours worth of potential content.
I basically took away from that interview the impression I'd be buying a blue ray filled from end to end with stuff to do rather than pretty 3d grafix bullshit. Which has got me all kinds of excited, I don't know about you guys.

Were they playing the wrong game?
What? You get overlord's wrath by levelling. Spells by levelling. If they're in their thousands and don't have all the weapon skills yet, that's still pretty significant.
Shit even the skill combinations is interesting. What if you have to do that to unlock skills, not just through weapons alone on individual characters?
Man there's like at least a dozen explanations for why they'd say skill, the most likely of which is that they are game reviewers, so tend to generalise, and all skills and spells turn up under special.
Again, we were barely able to scratch the slightest amount of the surface with the time we had with the title, but NIS America has spent a ton of time pulling out all of the stops with this title, including more features than any other Disgaea title has ever seen before. In fact, the development team made the idea of creating a title with millions of hours of play part of their design concept. As a result, they've added loads of new features, such as brand new Item Worlds and Character Worlds to maximize stats of soldiers and accessories, the ability to morph characters into weapons for use by other warriors, and even the expansion of downloadable content with new job classes and scenarios for the game. Even some of the save games that we saw featured characters in their mid thousands that had fully completed the title and were still learning devastating new abilities.
So from that I see...you can go into characters just like items. Turn characters into weapons for use in battle. And the mid thousands abilities thing, probably related to all the others.
I saw the skill combining in the trailer.
I can't wait for this game.

There are also school clubs that give groups of characters abilities (and the president leeches from his members replacing the mentor thing). There's even a 'Reverse Pirate' club, where you seize the pirate ship from the item world pirates and stage your own raids. Other things are more boring. Bonus mana, bonus experience, double effectiveness of items, etc. The Mabilities (silly pun on maou and mahou) are the passive abilities learned by leveling and you keep them when you transmigrate.
Skills are bought with mana. Characters can be explored like the item world with the same general results. You can also transfer skills and mabilities with that. There's also a palette swap shop to change the colors if you hate them.

Though I remember seeing something about it having some kind of army combat system?
Either way, day 1. AT1's story was silly at best, and ridiculously easy, but the combat was fun.
Wait a sec, AT2's competing with Persona 4? Well, forget that.
What's the source on this info? NIS America and RPGFan show nothing.

I guess it's on-topic to mention that I'm working on finishing the only NIS SPRG I haven't beaten; Makai Kingdom.
There's something very low-end about this game's production values. The story is interesting, at least.
It looks interesting, if comicaly skewed toward the little dudes in the back. *KABLOOIE* is as good an answer to a problem as any, I suppose.

True true, but I never think to try that.
I'd rather see them add more buzzwords to the attacks. "Shiny Triumphant Winged Slayer of Demon Pureeing PLUS 10 OMEGA X" If only as a joke.
