Well remember though that item worlds aren't 100 level extravaganzas anymore -- they're 10 levels. Which is much more manageable, considering that in order to effectively do item worlds in Disgaea 1 involved skipping most of them anyway through clever jumping.
Yes. They're like healers (I think it's Healer/Mage on level X to unlock), only specializing in all the buff spells. And are at least semi-decent with a gun. Moreso than healers at any rate. They're the opposite of the witch doctors.
Cheerleader is a pretty arguable translation, honestly. It wouldn't be wrong, but it's not how the Japanese would say Cheerleader. They usually just use Cheer Girl or Cheerleader (make your own terrible Japanese pronunciation for either). These are 応援師 (ouenshi). Ouen meaning basically any kind of support or aid, including 'cheering' and shi being a suffix meaning specialist or master. Yes yes, a squad of cheerleaders is generally ouendan (dan = squad/team), but that's a bit more gender neutral and you know that they were as much an assist squad as 'cheerleaders.'
Edit: Or did you mean she doesn't look like an 応援師? There's not really any such thing as an 応援師. If you GIS it, the first like, 3 pages are Disgaea 3 things. Then random figures.
that's not what comes to mind when someone says ouen/cheer/support/air/応援 shi/master/leader/師. I can see the color motif and the pom pom like armlets. Even the design of it can say cheer, but it looks more like a belly dancer than a cheerleader.
The thong is an undergarment and swimwear, worn by both sexes, in a style characterized by a thin strip of material along the center of the garment's rear designed to sit between the wearer's buttocks cheeks connecting the front or pouch to the waistband behind the wearer.
I can't tell if it goes between the butt cheeks or not. It doesn't look like it to me. It looks like the strips are tied up.
There is no outline in the area where you would expect the front to be. The area is colored that is supposed to be covered is colored this and the skin close to it is colored this
Two of Atlus' best publishing efforts from the PlayStation 2 era are getting the Greatest Hits treatment, with Odin Sphere and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. The latter of those two took an impressive five years and change to receive the coveted $19.99 price drop and dreaded red bar. We're not complaining, as all PlayStation 2 owners should give these titles a whirl at these low, low prices. We're just sort of shocked that someone at SCEA remembered Disgaea existed.
Both titles will have their box arts slightly shrunk and their street value hit rock bottom this September in North America. Congrats to both.
I'm finally getting Odin Sphere.

Did I mention that not only are the DoubleJump guys freakin' awesome (their forums are great fun, and they hire really goodGameFAQs authors), but the owner/founder/"Guy in charge" at DoubleJump is a PA Forumgoer?
(Although I cant find his profile now that I'm actually looking...)
Anyway. Yeah. Book. Free sample. Support the publisher. Fuck Gamestop. Yadda Yadda.
i would have preordered the game and guide straight from NIS but they dont take trade in credit from Gamestop last time i checked. also my experiences with their ship times have been... problematic in the past.

Jesus.
This is going to be beautiful, isn't it? Probably going to keep me busy until Spore and DOW2 and Fallout 3, eh?
Don't worry, I'll turn on the Houk Signal.
I placed my preorder last week.
but Disgaea on the DS...i recently felt a pang of desire for such a beast and, lo and behold, here it is.
life is good to me like that sometimes.
EDIT: and rhapsody? good stuff.

... what.
The psp port of 1 was the best game purchase I made all last year. And I already had the PS2 version. That game just screams out for portability.

Weirdos.
A.. .loincloth?
They call those thongs where I come from.
Anyway, I expect the outlined strips of cloth to connect sort of like this:

Regardless, if my school had had cheerleaders like that, you'd be looking at an ex-varsity football/basketball/baseball player.
Sometimes I think the artists that did the La Pucelle and Disgaea characters do things just to try and get cute girls to cosplay as them. :P

That's not funny.
No easy feat.
I had much more fun after that.
Might I refer you to the publisher's homepage, wherein you can preorder directly from them, and probably^H^H^H definitely get the book before the game even comes out?

Ninja Edit: SCORE! 16 meg sample PDF!
It was a epic story about fairies, emo-knights, and women who wear very little clothing. I loved it.
But the game is tits-hard. Easy mode felt comparable, to me, to normal in most other games.
I found it pretty resonable myself, but I chew through difficult games, so my sense of difficulty is a bit off.
