I would prefer to see a soldier get a fly-by-wire rocket launcher with a much faster rocket, but less damage, say 75 as opposed to the current 100 or so

The problem with the Pyro update is that there's going to be an achievement where you have to kill so many people by setting them alight and then them burning to death afterwards. But everyone is going to be playing Pyro, farming achievements, so unless they change Pyros to make them burn, it might not be an easy achievement to get.

The axtinguisher may get a nerf but I'm certain it's going to be part of the standard pyro set up. The only time I used my axe (except for lolmelee kills and awesome taunt) was when I was fighting another pyro but even now I just try flame the pyro or run away shotgunning so the ability to crit if someone's on fire may end up being situational but it'd be better than basically the zero normal axe situations.

A bit like how all medics are blutsauger, medigun, ubersaw medics.

I couldn't change my medic weapons last night and was stuck with the original weapons. Oh God that syringe gun sucks so much.

I got stuck in the roof of the tunnel (right after the first caputre point, stage 1) by riding on the minecart as we capped.

I could look around and shoot n stuff, but I couldn't move. More importantly, I couldn't dance.

    Bondage pyro, eh?

Should have just left the pyro alone and keep the TF2 look. Would've been funnier.

Yeah personally I think the Axtinguisher isn't great but assuming it does more average damage than the regular axe, I'll still use it. Right now I never use the axe for anything. From the current description I don't think flamethrower->axe is worthwhile, but sometimes you do get to ambush people who are already on fire.

Seriously, there's nothing like Orange to make you feel fantastic as a sniper.

And I like how all the people who play pyro with some frequency are saying the axe isn't that great. It's not. And kinda like the ubersaw, if you go about specifically trying to use it you're going to die a lot more often than it'll be effective.

Also you don't need to fight other pyros with your axe (although if you bring yours out and they don't they have no honour) if you can just lead them with your flames. Start backpedaling using the flamethrower. IFf they run straight at you, you're only getting the edge of their flames while they're getting the edge up to the middle of yours. Assuming you were at roughly the same health to begin with, you'll always win.

    • On the first part, I was a BLU soldier. I tried to jump down from the top of the RED spawn building, but when I reached the edge things got glitchy: I'd almost go over the edge but then I would get pushed back/stuck on something. This lasted a few seconds, during which several RED players left the spawn, and I might have been right above the spawn doors as well. Maybe it has something to do the with the spawn doors opening, or maybe I just moved around whatever was causing it after that, because eventually I managed to jump down. I don't think it was lag however because the RED players I saw moved normally.
    • The wider tunnel in the second part allows you to see from one side to the other if you are looking at it from the right angle, something that wasn't possible in the original dustbowl. Maybe this was intentional, but it could be used for sniping (and maybe even rocket/grenade spam, haven't checked if it's wide enough) from a safe location.
    • We never reached the third part when I played so I can't really say anything about that right now.

Pfft. There are loads of great snipers on PA. I just can't play anything else, whereas they can.

Noscoping is surprisingly generous. Much like the [strike]fucking fucking[/strike] magnum.
I don't know why spies even bother stabbing snipers. Three magnum hits in three seconds will kill us, and it'll take us 1.5 to react, so you'll probably land two before we even retaliate. And it crits so hard.

There isn't much they can do with the axe to make it good simply because pyros are already a close range class with the flamethrower. Other class's melee weapons will seem decent simply because they tend to break out their melee weapon in close range and also have a much higher tendency to run out of ammo and fall back on it.

Pyros want to get up in your face with the flamethrower and rarely run out of ammo so the axe is bound to be underwhelming relative to other class melee weapons.

This map will be a new payload map type/style. Littleboots and I are working on this. There will be a series of switches along the rail, that can be thrown to make the cart go alternate routes/tracks, some routes/tracks will will be harder, some will be easier. This should be interesting.

Nobody do this. It was okay with medic, it really was. The kritzkrieg helps out the team. The ubersaw=more ubers, which also helps out the team.

If you go and fucking farm the achievements for the other classes it just seems unfair for the people who actually play the class. If I'm running around trying my best to get the achievements in normal play, and I see some nub swinging about the Axtinguisher because he spent a few hours farming, well that sucks.

I'm only a mediocre player so hopefully some of the others provide more/better/correct info.

I mainly play pyro, engineer and medic so my heavy advice may be a bit off but when you're defending its never a good idea to go into a situation (or stay in one) that you're more than likely to die in unless you're taking out a key target like a medic due to the 20 odd second respawn timer. I saw at one point you stayed fighting two pyros as a heavy and perhaps you stayed because I was healing you but fighting two pyros once their circling you is a bad idea. Basically if you're a heavy and in red health its best to duck into cover and get a health pack or if there's a medic with you let him heal you, it'd make you survive and it'd let the medic build up his uber quicker.

On defense ubers are usually used to block offensive ubers (in which case the defensive medic will hit his uber after the offensive team so when BLU's run out RED can kill them) or simply in a kill all enemies way. Also if a medic ubers you because he's just about to die I say try pushing the opposition back a bit.

Offensive ubers are usually used to take out sentry guns. Any decent medic will run ahead of the person their ubering to take the sg attacks and knockback. If you're a heavy you need to be relatively close to the sg when you're attacking so you do more damage to the sg than the engie can repair so when you're ubered and running towards an sg dont be spinning your gun.

Medics a good class to play as a beginner, you learn the levels and you'll be able to pick up on what other people are doing. Just remember if you uber someoen to take out an sg run forward to take the knockback. I'd also soldier and pyro are good beginners classes.

Thank you very much. I've spent some of the morning watching instructional videos on some of the classes. Medic, Heavy, and Engineer particularly. I've learned a good deal I believe, though I'm undoutedly going to suck for quite awhile. I'll probably hop on later (watching my parents shop at the moment), and I think I'll give a medic a try when I do.

Aside from my lack of knowledge, my biggest difficulty last night was adjusting to the utter chaos of an all out battle. So even learning, until I adjust to that type of gameplay I'm probably going to have a bit of trouble.

It's fun though, my main fear is dragging down the team. I should probably ask: Last night I was trying to follow the other Heavy (Frank) a bit, but I was also trying to keep a bit of a distance to avoid getting in his way. Is this a good practice to get into until I learn the ropes?

I'm starting to ramble a bit though. I'll hop on later to try putting a bit of what I've learned into practice, as well as just practice period.

Note for reference: I've changed the screen name from "darkadonis" to "Dark Adonis". Still debating whether I should change that, but I thought I would at least make the name look better. Also grabbed an avatar of a Warlock Engineer from Warhammer.
