Were I younger, with less responsibilities and still lived in my hometown, I would go check out the Iowa State University steam tunnels.

Well, there's also all the motion detectors and stuff they apparently installed. That would kinda slow me down too.

For now I shall live vicariously through TS and hope he hits the hospital soon.

Huh. You would think Motion detectors wouldn't work in steam tunnels what with the heat and water condensation.

The steam doesn't just float around in the tunnels. The tunnels carry pipes which carry steam which heat the buildings.

Are you saying movies are wrong?

I'm saying that reality is a lot less awesome.

What does that half burned sheet on the inside of the box say? Just like an item list or something? And that ghost is so creepy it makes me want to shit my pants. Is it holding some sort of dimension traveling tool?

Worse, it's a camera! I get the shakes just thinking about what it might be taking pictures of...

Anyone know hat the thing is? Looks a little big to be a turf aerator. Maybe it's a soul grinder?

Wow, for the first time in my few years as working as a commercial/industrial HVAC mechanic I feel special. There are people who want to go into spots I work in. One of my jobs is a state run hospital. Google for Springfield state hospital center. Sadly I have yet to take pictures there, and I wont be back until september/october.

I do, however, have pictures I took in Baltimores Sparrows Point Shipyard while I was working in a leased warehouse there. A few of the pictures were taken from my car as I was leaving one day. The shipyard security was pretty tight due to it being so close to the Francis Scott Key Bridge, and even though I worked there, they werent thrilled with me walking around with a camera. Including security, there might have been 25 people where 30 years ago there were 3000. This is just the shipyard mind you, the mill itself is still in operation. Sparrows Point Shipyard

I used to do some urban exploration when I was younger (there aren't really hobos here, which is a plus), but nowadays I have watched way too many horror films or TV shows to attempt that anymore. D:

Kudos to everyone with the guts, though.

Not so much exploring, but there is a soccer stadium downtown with astro turn that I love to go to late at night and work out. A simple gate is all that blocks people from the inside, and you can easily slip through/climb over. Luckily, I live in a country with very little police and the ones who are around aren't especially strict.

I used to do some draining myself before I moved, and I haven't had much of a chance to check my new place out. I went out today, and took some pictures of a prospective drain. What do you think?

    Life still too busy GSD?

    Don't be a cocktease :)

I love reading about this stuff but don't think I'd like to try it anytime soon. Plus, since the GOP convention is here in St. Paul/Minneapolis they made it a felony to trespass in the good spots under St. Paul.

So, where can I find a storm drain that I can fit into? When I was in the city for my first few classes in college I expected that I could open up a manhole and find a good-sized tunnel.

Imagine my disappointment when I found that most manholes hide a small hole with a pipe and valve.

Today was fun shit, had a meet in my town. About 20 people showed up and we explored a bunch of places. Abandoned foundry, church, police station. Don't be afraid to just show up at these kind of things from websites like UER, the more (usually) the merrier.

As promised here ya go, with bonus picture!

The drainage tunnels that run under Cairo

    picture002qu0.jpg
    By SkutSkut

    The house

I don't know if anyone lives here or not, there's a mail box but the house is in such decrepit shape that it'd be all kinds of violations, and the front yards grass is knee high but there's like, a drive way leading to the back.

    picture003es5.jpg

    BONUS EDIT!

Apprantly that house is empty, now me snooping around it at night is a different story

This thread makes me equal parts excited and sad. I saw it and I'm thinking, "Aww, there are no place in Juneau, Alaska to explore." Then I think, "Oh yeah, the mines!"

But I guess I'm not supposed to go into mines? I'm not hardcore enough to tread where the UrbExperts won't go :(
