On 3 characters I have now got to 20, I have never once had to go to the White sands. Never.

DX10 is supposed to come back in August.
Mine is still running with DX10 selected, but somehow I doubt it's actually doing it. The fog rising off the water in some places will just look that much more badass come August.
Also I don't think there's a single Demonic Pict on Stormrage right now that isn't backpaddling around the Acheronian Ruins.
Least I haven't found one yet.
Yeah those flailing Demonic Picts are quite a sight. Between them and the bats frozen in the air, the Acheronian Ruins are a very creepy place indeed.
Finally got my first toon out of Tortage last night, and off he went to Aquilonia. It's quite a shock to talk to quest NPCs and hear no dialogue.. instead reading what they say as they stand there mutely. I think it'd be a little creepy even if Tortage wasn't completely voiced.

Really? What other MMOs have you seen where every NPC has a voice actor?

I don't like the fact that the text has no backing, in certain situations it can be pretty hard to read. However i am glad it isn't spoken anymore. I was getting annoyed at the slowness they read their lines, and i couldn't focus to read them because of their talking!

but like..it's required for all the nighttime things.....................................how did you get around doing that............
Oh for the single player thing, yeah like for one part of the quest.
But the daytime quests you get for the White sands. I went once. And got ganked too many times. And since then i have never had to do any of the quests there. Underhalls and the Ruins are more than enough to get to level 20
I always go to White Sands last. I gather all the quests, do all the other quests in Underhalls and the Ruins first.
That way I'm always at least 17 or 18. I look like a fucking menace so the only people who mess with me are hiding rangers who attack when I'm on mobs.

It's worthy to note that White Sands is not representative of the larger world. Griefers don't show up nearly as much in the wider world and a lot of them are just testing out their new combos, looking for the best strategies.
I play on PVE so White Sands was never a problem, the only issue I had was having to kill some of those Red Guards, there were always so many running trying to kill them it was one of the last thing I finished, thankfully I did manage to kill a few here and there including on White Stands where they spawn at that shack.

None, of course. What I meant was the way that, when you talk to an NPC, the dialogue screen comes up and you are shown a close-up of said NPC... just standing there, shifting around or whatever they happen to be doing.
Just feels a little weird is all I'm saying. I knew of course that there would be no spoken dialogue after Tortage, but for some reason I thought that the entire dialogue screen would go away, and text windows similar to the way WoW handles quests would come up. Not sure why I thought that, but I guess I've just been playing that particular game for too long. :P

I feel that. What I thought was weird was when every now and again while talking to an NPC they will, without breaking off in their dialog, kneel down below the camera's field of view and... start going down on you? Admirable that the guy can keep up the fake Jamaican accent with a mouth full of vagina, though.
Question about sheilding: What do you set yours too? and how often do you change it? I'm a little in the dark on what is a good idea to do. I just leave it for all around.

They could at least act like they are talking, that isn't so hard to accomplish. Well now it would be since all the NPC's have been done up and going back to add animations would be an odious chore.
All the same, it's a pretty minor thing. My main gripe is the class I wanna play is gimped to fuck and back (demonologist). Fucking priests can out DPS a demo, plus heal and buff.
Necromancers are reported to be almost as gimped as demonologists, but I can't help but think that having that swarm of pets is awesome.
I must try one.
Necro's seem cool and with colision detection in PvP they would seem to work in theory. But if you can get a opening through the swarm and run up to a necro, I would think they would die quick. Thats what I don't like about pet classes, if they need their pet to do damage/live, then they usually stink in PvP.
After I get my HoX leveled up, I think I will roll a bear shaman next. From what I gather, they are great healers with good melee damage?

This is one reason I wish I played a healer. I have a horrible feeling that healer DPS will get nerfed and leveling them will be a tad slower.

They will probably get nerfed while necros/demos get buffed. It just means you'll actually have to group most of the time as a healer, which makes a lot of sense.
I don't see why a healer needs to necessarily be nerfed to the point of needing to group to get anywhere? Healing's not even the same in this game as other games, there are no single target heals, they're all hots (and one emergency heal). And quite frankly, it would suck balls to have to have a group to make any kind of progress. I do think single target dps on necros (and probably demos, but I've not played with one) needs to be upped. I actually outdps my brother on his necro right now even on single targets and that's just wrong.
Yeah, I agree with what Fantasyrogue said - basically the healers in this game aren't really the typical type of healers. They can manage on their own; the way they heal is different also. And I think that is a good thing. From what I have played the early game is just alot of solo until you get up to 30-40, methinks. I hope they won't nerf the priests any more.

And oddly, my level 28 Priest of Mitra versus a level 28 Bear Shaman in my group, I'm outhealed. His HOTs overwrite mine.
According to the class desc, Mitra is supposed to be the strongest healing class....
I've never grouped with another healer before though I did hear something about heals overwriting eachother. Although that might have specifically been regarding having two healers of the same class (like, two PoMs) in one group.
Also, I just saw a dev post on the EU forum that had a long list of things they're looking at for both demonologists and necromancers. So there's that.
I said that for about 2 hours yesterday. I rolled a Bear Shaman on Thog and played for a few hours. But it gets boring (for me, mind you). I don't know why, I kind of like knowing I need to keep an eye out for people. I also look at the long run, I can see open world level 80 PvP being a blast.

Yea, I agree with you. But like I said, I just have a bad feeling. And as you said, a PoM shouldn't out DPS any of the mage classes. I just hope the classes that need buffs get them soon.

They took out the option a couple of patches ago. Not sure if they'll add it back in anytime soon.

I expect to run this thing at about medium with few hiccups.... is that realistic?
Does it run well in vista or should I expect to put a stripped down XP build on another partition?

And no you don't get a mount with it, no bow either.
Plus it says they do ship to selected other countries as well.
