Hmm, maybe I'm just forgetting the events of the 2nd and 3rd season, but did they ever find Kobol? If so, why didn't they settle there? I remember there being some nice place with forests and stuff.
Because they weren't interested in stopping there I guess. Baltar pretty much had to whip the people who wanted to settle new caprica into a frenzy to get other parts of the fleet onboard with the idea
But if Earth is populated by the renegade 13th colony they probably would speak the same language wouldn't they?
Yeah, but bear in mind in real life the people of Earth don't all speak the same language.
Furthermore, English is a derivative language, which uses aspects from German, Scandinavian and Celtic languages, and further down the line, Greek and Latin.
If the colonials were to speak a language from Earth, it would have to be one of those, not English. Greek would be the best bet, I suppose, because the colonials worship the Greek pantheon.

He still gave an unauthorized person access to secret government areas for personal gain.
We call that treason here in America, and execute the hell out of people who do it!
/tobykieth
Actually it's been along time since we've executed anyone for it. More recently it's been alot of wrist slapping.
Baltar is cowardly slime. That's how i know he can't be the final cylon. THey apppear to actually have spines.
Last one I can remember didn't have it too easy, but he certainly got kept off the gallows trap.
Also, moving requires energy, and energy requires fuel, which is not infinite. Why waste precious fuel jumping randomly when you might need it later if they start following once every 33 minutes again?
They were only able to follow them every 33 minutes because supposedly the Olympic Carrier harbored a Cylon agent that was transmitting their coordinates every jump.
And I imagine burning up a little extra fuel jumping around is probably better than waiting for a Cylon scouting party to find your ass and feed it back to a couple basestars.
And yet there are still a number of Cylons just hanging out around the fleet in various places. Remember the six that came to accuse Baltar of treason? Remember how she just disappeared and was never found? How odd that only one of the Cylons had any means of transmitting their position. No, I'm thinking they infiltrated the Olympic Carrier after it failed to make the jump and then sent it on ahead with a nuke. (why would the nuke not have been detected before?) They probably decided following them every 33 minutes wasn't getting them anywhere so they played a little mind game and gave their agents aboard the fleet a little more security and made it look like the Olympic Carrier was the reason for their following them.
I still think that episode (33) ranks as one of the best. The pacing, music, SFX. The scene where you can almost see through the windows and you're wondering if anyone is actually alive on it...just really powerful.
Also think of lingual shift. Even if English was the language of the colonies there has been considerable time between the exodus from Kobol that the 13th tribe would have shifted quite far from the orgionla language. They have had no interation in thousands of years with teh other 12 to keep the language the same. I men think how far english has come in just 200 years.
And also the point of english being the basterd child of Germanic and Romantic languages is also valuble. In these kind of contexts I never assume that what I hear on Friday is the actuall languge that thechars are speaking. I almost always assume it has been translated for the viewing public. specially since I realized that for people in other countries it has been.
I'm pretty sure we are, yes. I seem to remember a "Next Friday" at the end of the preview last week, and I don't recognize the name of the episode on the channel guide ("Hub"). Should be a new episode. After that though, I have no idea. I can feel the squeeze already, knowing that the new episodes will be over soon...
After tonight's episode, how many do we have left before the series finale?
there are supposed to be 22 episodes of season 4. Razor used 2 of them, and this weeks episode is S4E11 so after next weeks we will have 8 remaining, with no word on whether the finale will be a long ep or not

Not initially. But the Cylons did find it, and send forces down to the surface.

maybe they realized that and decided to break off pursuit so that it wasn't really obvious boomer was a cylon?

I am about to become very unhappy.
The ending in particular was beautiful and perfect.

As for 2009, erm, it looks like QUITE a bit is getting revealed next week, unless those scenes are just make-believe.
I love number 3's attitude after waking up too.

Who knows, it's Sci-Fi Channel, they'll probably replace BSG's final episodes with another Mothman movie.
